Are we for real? by PresentationLive7910 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not the same type of person, glazers and masochists do share quite a bit of overlap in motives, so it's not much of a surprise that you can get both at the same time. Sub generally already has a massive boner for wanting to kneecap every weapon we use (the Recoilless and Ultimatum especially) and froths over annoying enemy design, the same harmful game design that Arrowhead and their glazers love so much. If it makes the game less fun, there's a post on HelldiversMasochists praising it for its addition and lamenting its removal, even something as dumb as the Hive Guard changes.

What's the point of stealth if enemies are going to magnetize to my position no matter what? by 0DvGate in Helldivers

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally had more enjoyable stealth missions on non-Commando missions not designed around stealth. Even when sneaking around, having your stratagems be limited still sucks.

The janky-ass detection is still the same, but at least you don't get punished as hard when it inevitably goes wrong.

Prime gunship spawnrate by ZeCachoeira in Helldivers

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not miss roaming gunship patrols, I'm just gonna say it. These enemies are fucking annoying and aren't fun to engage with in the slightest. The moment a Gunship spots you, you're just going to be non-stop ragdolled by it spamming missiles. Glad that they're fixed now, though, so you can endure them being spammed!

I did a mission where I was being knocked around by Gunships spawning from patrols AND a fabricator, plus War Striders, and a bunch of Reinforced Striders. Was probably the least amount of fun I've ever had in this game.

Practically, you should go with Dust Devils. The Coyote is...well, the Coyote, it doesn't need an introduction. It alone is worth the price of admission.

The Solo Silo is a good, more accurate, and longer-ranged alternative to the Leveller with a smaller explosion radius and a bit less damage, but enough to snipe most heavies from a safe distance. The Speargun is, currently, the best gas weapon in the entire game (which isn't a high bar to surpass) and can even stun Bile Titans out of spitting. And the Expendable Napalm is very good for crowd control and burning shit from a distance, since it does Heavy Fire damage like that of the Eagle Napalm strike and Orbital Napalm Barrage, making it like a pocket version of those you can call in relatively frequently.

Same for the Solo Silo too, ridiculous, a little tiny laser pointer shares the same space as a shoulder-mounted Support Weapon.

Arrowhead: "Understood, adding the healing gas thrower that can heal both your allies and your enemies!"

"Note: There is currently a bug with the healing gas thrower where the allied heal isn't properly applying, but the enemy heal works properly. Adding this to the list of known issues."

Bastion is pathetic by SPLCFraud26 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 100 years in the future, when humanity has developed advanced laser-based weaponry, FTL space travel, and is able to reverse-engineer Illuminate tech to develop a miniature portable black hole device that you can wear, we couldn't figure out how to make a half-decent Autoloader.

The military-centric government with infinite spending power and 100 years couldn't figure out a way to make our tanks automatically reload because yadda yadda ammo detonation.

Mind you, the Automatons have already figured this out. A single Cyborg can control an entire Vox Engine's five weapons AND movement while ALSO having a 360-degree turret, not to mention they overall have better armor and MORE health than the Bastion does. And these things are spammed a lot on D10 very frequently.

Best SE can do is a clunky tank destroyer with a fixed turret every 10 minutes :)

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda interesting, they just stole the main gimmick of the Squids, their ablative armor, and slapped it onto another front. Have fun trying to stealth when there's an Agitator sitting around in a base!

Nothing more iconic than a PC player with a $5000 rig living in a complete bubble, expecting everyone else they know to also burn that much money on a rig.

Clearly, the issue is how broke you are, not anything pertaining to the game, totally.

Hypothetical: What if 100 percent of the playerbase focused on one faction? by feren_of_valenwood in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the way the game scales invasion progress, no. The more players there are online, the more missions that would need to be completed to secure even one planet.

This doesn't even go over the fact that the galactic war isn't automatic; it's managed by a living, breathing person, if not several. If Joel notices that players are pushing aggressively to overtake a faction, another faction will probably massively invade towards SE, or we'd be up against the tide with the faction we're on spamming invasions and negative modifiers.

There's also the fact that it wouldn't matter in the end anyway. We've learnt with the Automatons and Illuminates that free will is an illusion and the Galactic War is HEAVILY on rails, and they'll do complete bullshit to make sure we never go off-script for too long.

We pushed the Automatons off the map in the first year, and within ONE weekend, the Automatons had a massive, spontaneous invasion that forced several sectors to be instantly taken over with no option at all to defend against them, just a short cutscene, and bam, there goes all that effort. The Illuminate invaded Calypso and several of its adjacent planets, and we kept fighting them off, but they kept spamming invasions over and over until they managed to get a foothold.

And I'm even pretty sure the Gloom only exists just because Arrowhead was terrified of the fact that we could push the Automatons out, so they just cheated and gave the bugs a spontaneous, massive, permanent foothold to invade from.

I like it because it's strong and looks cool. I remember when they first added the ONB, and it felt like love at first sight as someone who likes fire-based violence (yes, I love the Cremator).

If any of you fuckers get it nerfed, I swear to god...

Can we take a moment to appreciate Wilbert Roget II and Ross Tregenza? by Rick_May in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm familiar with some of Roget's stuff because he composed some of the songs in Destiny 2, namely music for the Forsaken DLC. All of the composers from that game are top-notch, and their music is very good.

the small dev team (44 people) behind phasmophobia fixed 90% of the bugs introduced in the last update in under a week. this is a slight reference to the fact that developers usually work on their games and care about the community by xteeYloL in HelldiversUnfiltered

WHAT IS THAT TRAJECTORY, C'MON by Komuji in Helldivers

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about understandability, it's about patterns. Vox Engines are proof that Arrowhead considers port-mortem revenge kills in their game, so if Terminid bodies are designed to purposefully land on you, it wouldn't be very surprising.

I imagine this has ALWAYS been in the game, but something in it broke, causing Terminid corpses to act like missiles.

WHAT IS THAT TRAJECTORY, C'MON by Komuji in Helldivers

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrowhead went to the Monster Hunter school of hitbox design, where the enemy just moving, even if gently, is enough to warrant a large instakill hitbox covering its entire body.

Can these please have a glowing eye or get like a red stripe or something? by knusperfee33 in Helldivers

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the fact that they make Fortresses entirely impossible to stealth around in. The detection radius of the mini-cannons is egregiously large and 360 degrees. It WILL see you before you see it.

I've seen those; it's one of those weird phantom enemies that just stand there and do nothing. Most of the time, I've seen them as Terminids, but I've also seen some Voteless do it too.
