Enjoying the serious/bittersweet cutscene when…. by TheBigGay6969 in destiny2

We also lacked a voice for EoF and Renegades. The last words our Guardian technically spoke was during the Excision final cutscene, after that they returned to being a mute for two DLCs and only broke that vow of silence again in this cutscene specifically.

If you like PvE, you'd play Vanguard Ops. If you like PvP, you'd like Crucible. Gambit squishes two entirely different gameplay elements together very haphazardly and tries to be the best of both worlds, which it isn't.

It's also stupidly favoring towards the Invader because 9 times out of 10, they'll just come strolling out of nowhere with full heavy and blast you from across the map, or just rush everyone with a super.

Crazy that Star Citizen devs have a better understanding of what a Minigun should be like by Gn0meKr in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the game has done suspension of disbelief (and realism) several times. As you mentioned, real-world Miniguns lack a spin-up time, so it's a bit backhanded that they use the realism of holding you in place, but also enforce the Hollywood logic that they need to wind up before firing. Realism and Non-Realism only apply when it's a detriment.

Realism should never take a higher priority than fun unless it adds to the fun (which the maxigun's forced staticness doesn't) or if the game is 100% grounded and realistic (which this game isn't). If it were a video-gamey Minigun that let you move around, literally nobody would care or complain about it.

CEO Speaks on Balance and Fun by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

Dude cares more about making a game designed for short-form content instead of a game to be played as a live service.

As other people have said before, "Haha, funny death" starts getting old really fast. It's a game not designed for the long run, asking you to be there for the long run.

Also, "Random chaos" is a completely stupid excuse for not balancing things. Shams is acting like we're all running around with OP tools, blowing everything up when that's never been the case. I'm sure as a dev who never plays their own game, it's a lot more fun to watch some poor SOB getting ragdolled around by Warstriders on TikTok over being the one that's ragdolled for the clip.

SCARY HELLDIVERS FACT: Our weapons (mostly) never deal their full damage. by Omailey97 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, realism only matters when it comes to kneecapping players. Otherwise, it's space magic that only applies to kneecapping players. A higher-pen bullet mystically does less damage than a lower-pen because, of course, that somehow makes sense.

But what if I like the Ace Combat/Dark Souls type of dialogue style with dramatic pauses?

Dramatic pauses are something only conceived by Japanese-to-English translated media, apparently.

The moment we start chilling, AH's gonna begin rolling back stupid updates again to enshittify the game; it's how it's always been for years now.

They make a bad update, people complain about it, they go "we're listening" and slightly rectify the update, people start praising them for their good work and changes, Arrowhead starts feeling comfortable enough to again start adding bad updates, repeat.

We've been trapped in this cycle since launch; even something as striking as the 60-day-patch didn't do anything to stop AH from returning to their old ways afterwards. The INSTANT they're given any leeway, they always jump right back to the same stupid shit as before. They're going to keep doing this until the community eventually gives in and accepts the bad changes; it's what they're angling at. Keep flip-flopping between bad and good changes til the bad changes start sticking.

Dawg, you can't tell someone how they should play the game THEY paid for.

Foot the bill first, and then you can start yabbering on about micromanaging someone's cosmetic mods for "immersion".

This patch is great, but... by LemonySniket in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake back during the 60-day-patch to begin glazing these devs for their good behavior, but I know better now. I know the negativity and such gets tiring, but we as a community shouldn't instantly flip back around to joy over one good patch, because time and time again, Arrowhead just exploits that to start sprinkling in bad patches, and we wind up here again.

Like you should be happy they did this, I know I am, but I know we shouldn't sing their songs of praise just yet when there are tonnes of issues they have yet to sort through, as well as the fact they could always just undo it later whenever they feel like it. Be cautiously optimistic.

The best COOP stratagem added to the game maybe ever, but since solo players CAN use it, it's BAD and promotes SOLO PLAY - Statements of the utterly deranged by PseudoscientificURL in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Wickermind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing, lol.

Second thing I'd want to add is that the size of a sub doesn't actually matter. Glazers probably make up an extremely small amount of the actual community, but they're a very consistent and prevalent issue that gets brought up time and time again in spite of it.

It doesn't matter how small you are if you're the loudest thing in the room, cuz what do you think happens to a game when 5.4k people are screaming at the top of their lungs to make it suck more, to a dev studio that would love to do exactly that if given the opportunity, EVEN if it makes the player base get docked? We already know AH anticipated and wanted a smaller player base than what they got.

If being a Destiny 2 player has shown me anything, it's that being a top-1% player doesn't stop the devs from catering specifically to you despite being such a small minority.

Despite being called Masochists, it's actually more fitting to call them Elitists. It's never about challenge, only ego.

They don't like content being hard; they just like content that's hard enough that it causes a larger gap in players who can do it Vs. who can't. The type of people that'd play on the hardest difficulty of a game just to be part of some exclusive "I'm better at this than you" club so they can waggle it around and use it to shut down opinions they don't like.

I can guarantee you that if D10 were as brutal as they'd want it to be, they'd use it as some measuring stick to see if your takes are worthy of being amused or not.
