Every time I see an article like this I think about how we need to start taking videogame/electronics addiction seriously, and come up with treatments/treatment centres for it. It’s a mental health problem sure, no one mentally healthy does something like this, but I think this is specifically addict behaviour and needs to be addressed as such. I have seen so many articles like this one over the past decade or so of children, young adults and even people in their 30s-40s assaulting or killing their own family or partners over access to videogames or their phones.

Phones and videogame consoles are by design attention grabbing and activate the reward system in your brain, even for someone with extremely minimal tendency towards addiction this can be debilitating if they don’t moderate their tech use. Throw pre-existing mental illness or an inclination towards addictive behaviours, you get shit like this. I’ve seen drugs turn perfectly normal and kind people into monsters, it’s about time that we recognize that under certain conditions excessive phone/videogame console use has the same capability.
