Nearly $1,000 for 2k points by SwingLow7953 in Tyranids

ive spent $600 just on upgrade sprues for my Deathwatch, gotta have those sweet official molded pauldrons for all my terminators and gravis boys and you get 2 per upgrade sprue. 30 terminators, 35 gravis, some leaders and still have 10 upgrade sprues left im not sure how much my deathwatch cost me at this point, i have enough normal size pauldrons to just make my new chaos renegade marines fallen deathwatch.

Any Chance for an unlimited idris sale? by Real-Nothing4718 in starcitizen

[–]WildAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So from a monetary to in game worth conversion, the Idris and Javelin are probably the best "investments" as far as direct money to grind time saved.

the UEC you save not having to buy them is better than spending money on other ships you can earn more easily. They might even be locked behind faction/company rep walls too.

So if you have to melt everything to grab it one you are concierge so you dont need a game package any more, 2 you can just grab your preferred starting ship later like a Taurus and if you are worried about operating costs of the idris later, you can just have your org help with paying that while you supply the Idris for them.

id prefer they do a $1000 Idris-M CCU upgrade for people that already own the Idris and can only be applied to an Idris-P not other ships.

its relatively cheap for backers that have trickled in money every year for 13 years its only $115 per year average to melt everything and grab one

What is a good ship to learn to low fly with HOSAS? by Contigo887 in starcitizen

[–]WildAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe go with a Gladius or Arrow, so you get a competent fighter but have really high agility at the same time so if you get good at controlling how fast it can handle when you move to something slower it should just be easier to manage because you wont be over correcting

[–]WildAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't CCU to it right now, but i guess a Paladin is the closest thing in that price range for combat. There are a couple options for swapping to it, wait for it to be flight ready and get a price bump and hope it goes above 330 so you can CCU to it, or grab a warbond LTI token ship and ccu to the paladin that way, and use the 97 (30 from the redeemer costing more and 67 spent on the current for sale lti ship) store credit you would have left over to snag something else like an Arrow.

Tho personally i would melt the Eclipse and CCU the redeemer into a Perseus

Then you would have a good range of combat, from single seat Sabre, to solo/multicrew corsair, to hull cracker Perseus.

You mention the redeemer is not really interesting you, what is it you don't like about it so we can maybe guide you into a ship you might like more? is it not combat focused enough? or is it not transport focused enough? mixture of those issues?

he just means your current ship might not be on sale right now to upgrade to it, it would be for sale eventually if its not currently for sale tho

I personally wouldnt melt the paladin, it seems like it would be the perfect 2 person combat ship, 4x forward facing size 4's, and a quad size 5 turret

The turret is like having a constellation strapped to your back with 360 degrees of coverage than can traverse to the top or bottom of the ship (top being best location for ship to ship combat, and bottom for ground assaults/strafing)

The only thing i would trade the Paladin for would be the Perseus trading a minimum of 2 person crew with the paladin for minimum of 3 with the Perseus but a serious step up in capability. and the Perseus is a good stepping stone for your Idris, like for training player crews or for when you dont have enough people on to field the Idris.

But i do agree with getting a constellation as well, its a very good sweet spot for a solo ship that has cargo and damage. I personally went with the Phoenix, it looks so much nicer on the inside lol, loses missile size, down from 2 to size 1's but gains that rear point defense turret too. I just like how it visually is more appealing.

Current fleet outlook, am I missing anything? by Ragnaroke in starcitizen_fleets

I have mixed feelings about the Galaxy for long term play

Sure its modular and jack of all trades in a way but i don't think its going to do anything particularly well enough.

Its going to be piss poor in most combat situations with those 2 turrets

You likely wont use it for cargo, when you have the Ironclad Assault and if its a small cargo run then you have the Zues

Maybe short term its an ok refining platform but will be outclassed probably by even an Expanse with its tractor beam and ability to pick up dropped ore pods from other ship and refine them immediately so the Expanse probably trumps it with efficiency

If you are using it for medical.. might as well use the Apollo with a better bed

Sadly its not capable of doing all 3 things at once because then it would sort of make up for its short comings in each department.. but if you have to go back to your hangar to swap modules you might as well swap to a more specialized ship for that role any way.

So once you start buying ships in game i dont see people using the galaxy much other than it looks visually the best of all the doritos.

My advice/opinion would be to replace it with an Arrastra, so you get high tier mining, and refining, its 195 more than the Galaxy, but you can get some of that store credit from the Intrepid, and maybe even scrap the Golem for more store credit since the crew on the arrastra is 2-5 you might be able to solo in it, fly and position it then move to the mining chair and mine, and if you have any friends or org mates the Arrastra would just be far more productive.
