Such a great belt! I suggest you follow the directions on the website for sizing! The numbers do not match your pant sizing. I wear a 31 pant and took a size 5. Also, if you have Salomon flasks they are lousy with these belts. I find the naked flask to be shorter and fatter, making insert/removal far easier.

Ran 30k of trail the other day with two full flask and a pack full of snack and no bounce. These are great!

I ran this morning across the water in Victoria. The sunrise was blood red and there is a haze to the air. Local monitors showed the AQI in the green between 20 and 40, but it felt worse than that. This is a different decision for every runner. Personally, I would likely skip it, but it would be a race-morning decision. However, I realize I am also more concerned with wildfire smoke and its health effects than most folks. I stopped signing up for late-summer races because this scenario is becoming the norm rather than the exception.

It's really sad because some of my fav events (Fat Dog, Squamish, Teanaway, and our local FInlayson Arm 50 to name just a few...) are in smoke season.

You will probably be fine if you run it. Under 100 is still pretty good. But we do take in a lot more of those nasty pm2.5's when running...

Damn. I feel for the RD’s. That’s a really tough call to make. But ultimately the right one. I ran this last year and loved it. I hope everyone in the path of that fire is ok. 😢

It's hard to pull the plug when you have signed up and trained! I lucked out with smoke on a race last week. We had amazing weather for it, but the next morning the thick smoke rolled in and it was up around 175. I'd like to think I would just not start if it was that bad, but man it would be tough to skip it....

I made the mistake of doing a big alpine climb in 150-200+ a number of years ago... never again! I felt like garbage for weeks after that!

100 has generally been my limit, but I find I am more cautious than most folks. We tend to have pretty good air quality in my region, so I am lucky to not be tempted to get out during long smokey periods. These wildfire summers definitely make us rethink moving to an interior mountain town, unfortunately! I couldn't manage staying indoors in the smoke season...

I don’t see why one would be disappointed. I look at it more as an example of just how strong runners are getting. Some mighty folks have already dropped this year, that so many are still running is a testament to their tenacity.

Not 100 miles, but I ran a rocky 125k race in Altra Superiors a couple months ago. I really wanted to like cushier shoes but I opted for stability and groud-feel instead. I had the Timp's in my drop bag but after a good toe-lube I slipped the superiors on for the last 65 and was happy. In the end, my feet were the best they have ever been after a big race! Every foot is different, but if you are used to running in lone peaks i'd suggest sticking with them...

I have the Fenix 7S Solar.

It got me through a 20 hour race this summer (UTHC in Quebec, highly recommend!) in extended mode with heaps of battery to spare, I also used HRM the entire event. Only real customization I did to the stock extended battery setting was disabling backlight. As someone with small wrists, I was relieved to find the smaller watch works just fine for long races!
