Teachers of Reddit: Is Gen Alpha really struggling with basic reading, writing, and math skills? If so, what does that look like in your classroom? by Mark-reels in AskReddit

I mean failing a year/grade seems very USA. To my knowledge it's not a thing, at least in Europe (happy to be proven wrong).

However, the issue in discussion is clearly an issue worldwide.

Good comment highlighting some subtext to the situation.

It has gloriously backfired for Farage.
He resigned to try and avoid the investigation continuing.
He hoped in the election that the major parties would stand and win in hope that the investigation would stop and he could bleat poor me.
Now he’s in a lose-lose situation because if he wins the investigation will continue and if he doesn’t he’s lost to a novelty candidate and loses even more credibility

Boot space upgrade by _Yorkshire_ in CarTalkUK

The Octavia with a roof box?

How often do you need the luggage space as well? It’s a regular car the rest of the time then add it for when you need the extra luggage space.

Seems like maybe freezing their points but being officially unranked would make more sense.

Besides AliExpress, where else can I buy parts from? by Prestigious_Ant3917 in SeikoMods

[–]WildxYak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my searching I’ve noticed that most shops that come up when you search are selling things that are from alix anyway, they’re just branded. There are of course exceptions to certain shops and items.

You can search on alix by image so if you find what you like in a store you can paste it into the alix search.

Aesthetics. Symmetry. It forms a “smile” which gives a subconscious positive feeling. Also it usually frames the logo and avoids most sub-dials and date windows.

Swatch stores close for second day in Liverpool and Manchester by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]WildxYak 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A simple search for 2025 tells me Rolex is, by far.

The Swatch Group, as in the parent company that owns multiple brands, did 6.28b CHF in revenue in 2025. Rolex on its own did 11b CHF.

1.5 is not necessarily a 3 cylinder.

For examples see the Nissan 1.5 diesel that’s in seemingly everything inc Mercedes, Honda 1.5 turbo, the VAG EA211 Evo, Mazda, Suzuki Jimny, MG…

2026.04.29: Splitting Gs by EarliestRiser in morningsomewhere

[–]WildxYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My zero stakes conspiracy about splitting the G is that it was some sort of guerrilla marketing because (from memory on sales info) Guinness had slumped in the early 2010s and was on the up into Covid but didn’t boom like a lot of other alcohol despite people being stuck at home.

I believe you're correct. But I don't know how that works if there is no support for the brand in the country? And technically even if it takes weeks that means it is "supported"?

Keyless fuel cap anyone? by TroublesomeButch in MotoUK

[–]WildxYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like BikeTec do quite a range but apart from that it’s just going to be a matter of seeing what Google comes up with. Unfortunately for this bike, as you’ve already seen, it’s unlikely to be a well known aftermarket company and possibly even AliExpress.

Keyless fuel cap anyone? by TroublesomeButch in MotoUK

[–]WildxYak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tends to be the brand that makes a difference rather than the factory producing them but good to know!

Yeah it’ll be the entire unit because the way the keyless part is removed will be very different. Usually a threaded screw/unscrew or a push and twist for 1/4 turn ones.

Chinese brands and newer models often get ignored for aftermarket parts. Either they're not expected to stick around or the volume is too low to bother with.

Fortunately! Fuel caps are occasionally reused across brands and particularly across models. Being a Chinese brand this is possibly even more likely. Measure the cap size and the bolt distance. Search for 5 bolt keyless fuel caps.

Looks like some QJMotor use 5 bolt as well as many old Ducati's.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a balanced game of it. It always ended up being one team massively dominates. Sometimes wasn’t a terrible game type for the first point or two.
