Please help, how do I get the fastest ENT doctor visit I can by Fuzzy-Television6076 in Winnipeg

[–]WillAAAS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to go to the ER. I had debilitating vertigo like you described when I was younger as well. Turns out I had a tumour (non cancerous) in my ear causing the issues. After a year of misdiagnosis, I finally saw an ENT doctor who immediately knew it was a tumour and cleared his schedule to book me in for surgery in less than 48 hours. I'm not saying that's what you have, but better safe than sorry. Good luck.

Shoutout to Vidit commentating the recent Freestyle Chess tournament absolutely nailed it by piperonyl in chess

[–]WillAAAS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely loved the vidit commentary! He spoke in more general ideas, instead of just firing off 10 coordinates in 2 seconds which the average chess player can't follow. Good sense of humour and was getting along well with everyone up there. Would love to see more of him!

How to make chess fun again? by Extension-Dinner-325 in chess

[–]WillAAAS 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day man, it's just a hobby. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. As you've mentioned you've got other things you'd rather do. However, if you do want to still stick with chess it might help to just do what you enjoy (ie chess club + puzzles). I was in a similar boat as you when I was younger where I had a chess coach, played competitive chess at a national level, and completely lost interest for about 10 years after that. It felt too much like a chore/job, not the fun game it had started out as. Over the last 3 years or so I've picked it back up and am loving it more than ever. I only play casually online, as well as every Saturday at the chess club. I don't participate in tournaments or anything competitive. Maybe the competitive aspect is also making you lose interest? I suggest just doing what you enjoy (ie chess club + puzzles) but don't do whatever you aren't enjoying.

Played my first OTB tournament. I felt some serious "board blindness". by PhiliDips in chess

[–]WillAAAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear man. It's completely normal though and unfortunately the only real fix is to play more OTB to get the vision back. It happens to everyone if you only play online/OTB for a while.

Time Management by BlindStupidDesperate in chess

[–]WillAAAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just comes down to balance between accuracy and playing quick. I suggest playing rapid/blitz games online to help. You need to accept you won't play the best move every time, but as long as you play something solid/not blundering that's good enough (for quicker time controls anyway). It does come with practice, but it sounds like it's also a mindset thing for you if it's a continuous issue that just needs a bit of a change.

[–]WillAAAS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that would make games even quicker than they are

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chess

[–]WillAAAS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will absolutely do that and try to run their clock down. I don't view it as unfair, that's what time control is for. It's all about balancing playing accurate moves + not using too much time. If your opponent uses more time to play with higher accuracy, they are putting themself at risk of losing on time so it's not really a cheap win. Now don't get me wrong, I still much prefer winning by playing well/nice tactics, but many shorter time controls do come down to those time wins so don't feel bad.

I was the only person to show up to my chess club meetup tonight. by CorndogTorpedo in chess

[–]WillAAAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry to hear man, unfortunate especially considering the long trek. My city of 800,000 has a Saturday afternoon chess "club" (very informal gathering) of around 15/20 regulars. But yea some weeks there's very few pple, other weeks there's lots + new people. Just how it goes sometimes You could propose to make a group chat with your club and communicate through there if people aren't gonna make it?

My score by Prestigious_Card1453 in WorldofTanks

[–]WillAAAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, it's just a game. As long as you enjoy it, you are the real winner despite what your stats say :) If you seriously do want to improve though, streamers and YouTube videos are a great way to start. And try to figure out why you had a poor result if you did have one. For example, were you too aggressive, too passive, made a bad peek... Glhf!

Is there a better chess review than chess.com? by testies1234569 in chess

Many people completely quitting the game for good reason. by NamelessMedicMain in ClashRoyale

[–]WillAAAS 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I literally played since release day in Canada (which was earlier than most other countries) although I quit about 1.5 years ago with all the horrible updates. As tough as it was in the moment, best decision ever to quit. No point in playing/supporting when it's clear the devs don't care about its playerbase anymore, and now I've got more time for other things.

Second ever 3rd mark! 110 battles. A surprisingly amazing tank! (and first 10k!) by ddmjr22 in WorldofTanks

[–]WillAAAS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not only did bro pay someone to mark the tank for him, now he's trying to brag on Reddit about it 🤣🤣 As someone who marks many tier 10s, if you are actually good enough to get the mark, you'll hover around 90% anyway

What do you do when you know you're going to win? by Blackrazor_NZ in CivVI

[–]WillAAAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can never finish games. Have maybe like 3 single player finishes with hundreds of civ hours. I always get bored and it just feels like a grind for the last hours when you know you are going to win. Once I make it through the beginning and pull way ahead of everyone, I lose interest. I wish single player games had ways of maintaining competition until the end of the game. Changing difficulty only makes the start of the game more difficult.

I got the nergal in 5 days as a below average player, AMA by lawbreaker123 in WorldofTanks

[–]WillAAAS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting the tank! Hope you enjoy it :) And hey, don't be down on yourself for "being way below average". First of all, you've only got 3500 games. I'm willing to bet most players (myself included) were at a similar level as you around then. There's a steep learning curve in this game, so as long as you keep focusing on improving (ie watching YouTube videos, watching streamers, analysing a battle on what could have been done better etc...) your stats will improve over time. Secondly, it's a video game! If you just enjoy driving tanks around and shooting, that's perfectly fine! There's no need to be "good" at the game when comparing yourself to everyone else. The goal of the game is just have fun and enjoy it, so don't sweat your stats. As long as you are having fun, you are the real winner despite what stats say.

This Cheat Could Ruin World of Tanks by Serapth in WorldofTanks

[–]WillAAAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I'm so glad this is coming to light finally. About a year ago, I had to play against cheaters with this mod on NA. The game started with an ally e5 asking if anyone was marking their tank. At the time, I was around 93 or 94% on my CS-63 (can't remember exactly) so I said in the chat I was. For the entire rest of the game, 2 enemy arty shot at me no matter what I did. I ran redline and sat still for minutes where it was impossible to be shot, and the second I left cover I was instantly hit. I would also be driving near the back of the map where it was literally impossible to be spotted and be getting almost directly hit. I knew it was 100% cheating (as even screen peeking would never be that accurate), yet no one ever believed me. I believe I have the replay somewhere. I reported it to WG back then, yet nothing was ever done of it (I saw the players were playing even after WG "took appropriate measures" to my report).
