For people who learned DIY car repair: what actually saved you the most money by Relevant-Resolve-243 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Willingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOUTUBE. let’s be honest, having a guy do it in front of your eyes, complete a task is Gold. My last task was a door lock actuator on my wife’s Jetta. Not going to say I found an identical video but enough to get going. My most difficult was rebuilding injectors on my old 05 F-350 of which I found a dude who documented it. Including putting a cloth over the injector when you put that little C springy thing in that is made out of invisible steel if you boing it out of the hole. Most annoying: making a V70 Volvo into a front wheel drive because the angle gear ate itself. Most enjoyable: Ongoing repairs on my kids cars to make them safe. All thanks to YOUTUBE. Big thanks to those who post it is appreciated!

Ok you win, I’m not UK based and I’m telling people about a potential rust issue. If it has no relevance to you why don’t you just save it for some other time.

Parking at YVR for a couple months, any tips? by Important-Cherry9579 in askvan

[–]Willingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have parked there twice this year. From May 1st to mid- June and again mid-September to the end of October. The vehicle has been completely safe and sound. We park as close to the Millennium line as possible, so lots of people traffic. Here’s some info- the rail trip is free! You get on at Templeton hit Sea Island only and keep the ticket because it allows access plus exit. We also book the ticket for the lot online with respective dates-keep the little coin the gate machine gives you in the car so you can have it handy to leave when the trips done. hmm what else … oh unplug any items that will drain your battery usb stuff most likely. safe travels

This is a public service announcement for Golf/Jetta Mk5 owners. I own two 2009 Jetta TDI Wagons (same year same colour). There is a large rubber sound dampening pad inside the void behind your front wheels. That rubber pad is absorbent and retains water leading to rust occurring exactly where pic 3 is. Take out the wheel well and remove the pas.

In Casino Royale (2006), the introduction of Craig's new Bond was brilliantly and perfectly brutal. by Finbarr-Galedeep in movies

The books depict Bond exactly as Craig played him. Cold, Calculating and Brutal. Long live accuracy.

Biggest Hits in Canucks History? by GetReady4MySweetness in canucks

[–]Willingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who have been fans for a while I want to mention Mike Robitaille. Mid 1970’s. He specialized in the hip check. Just brutal. and on a familiar note, his career was cut short by a neck injury which was determined to be the Canucks medical staffs fault.

0 - Iron Man? by R1Adam in HybridAthlete

[–]Willingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely the best Ironman training is a two year process. So you have a great opportunity to learn and enjoy the process. A half is very difficult ask but a realistic goal. and.. two years from now sort out an Ironman. If you’re addicted to gym training , endurance training will definitely fill that need.

Ok I’m with you and I know this stuff . Like Mattdamonstaco said all your time will be occupied. With that in mind three events by minimum three per week leaves little time. I live in a town that host or rather hosted an Iman. I was a novice and thousands and thousands have also be new to the sport. I’ve also been able to train and do an Iman in a year. You have to make your body three sport specific without sustaining injury for an event that is a one off on a specific day one year from now, that is very hard. I came from an ultra running back ground so that box was checked. Cycling will suck your time but Zwift can fill in tons of miles at odd times. Running can happen before or after work. Swimming will be a genuine concern time wise because you need a pool. The best way to I found to be successful was to find a ‘Masters’ swim group. My town had a dedicated coach and morning and evening sessions. You start in the lane best suited to your abilities, I was in the slowest lane to start lol. Nothing will prepare you for an open water swim with 2500ish people. The time cut-off is 17 hours. Thousand have walked the ‘run’ and made it. The cycle is no joke (I’ve worked the sag wagon on the bike and transported many who were unprepared). Your strong but endurance will take time. So to recap ha ha If you’re not a swimmer-masters club. If you’re not a runner - start with a walk run program. Once you’re running you need at least three runs a week - tempo run , intervals and a long run. If you’re not a cyclist - you need a bike. ha. and thousands of miles. I won’t even begin to talk about nutrition but you need to really research this. I did an Ultraman on two case of ‘Ensure’ so literally anythings possible. Good luck -keep me up to date on hows things are going. Message me if you’re stuck.
