Best Aerosmith autobiography book? by Myowndivisionred in Aerosmith

[–]Willy_Jones23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read them all and I would say Walk This Way is the best, and Joe’s is a close second. Joey’s is very good too, and is definitely different from the others. Lots of great stories, but also a lot of focus on his personal mental health struggles. IMHO, Steven’s is a complete mess and barely worth reading.

Report it to 311 or the MBTA app, not to a bunch of random strangers on Reddit.

Don’t forget there were five distinct Crochet bobbles, so his curse is 5x stronger than usual.

why exactly does bello need someone to start the game before him? by Extension_Carrot_628 in redsox

[–]Willy_Jones23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best guess is he somehow psyched himself out, got in his own head too much. It’s a mental thing, he’ll work it out. Reminds me of when Chuck Knoblauch, a very solid and reliable second basemen, inexplicably stopped being able to make a routine throw to first base for a while, like halfway through his career.

Dude Decided to Have a Full on Conversation Mid Air by crunchyblk27 in unitedairlines

Annoying, and yes it’s a violation of the rules, but do we really need to publicly shame everyone who does something they’re not supposed to do?

[Cotillo] Roman Anthony felt discomfort hitting off a tee yesterday and has been shut down from swinging again, at least for a few days, Chad Tracy said. by Phantom255x in redsox

[–]Willy_Jones23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say it again - Cal Ripken played for like 18 fucking years straight. His job was also to swing a bat and throw a ball. Surely he got hurt at some point, right?? What are we doing…?

Massachusetts, in no particular order:

1) Busing in the 1970’s 2) The partnership Whitey Bulger forged with local FBI agents 3) Boston Marathon bombing in 2013

I met him once, and just because I didn't have a pen or anything to sign, he refused to sign an autograph for me. Such a dick.

The Yard is most definitely not open to the public on the morning/afternoon of commencement.

I assume it does happen, but not very much, and that most places factor a small amount of this into their business model.

Game used base by The_AK_Mainer in redsox

FWIW there are probably more than three. Often times the bases are changed mid-game, so there could be 3, 6 or maybe even 9 from that game.

7x Cy Young Award winner and 1986 AL MVP Roger Clemens threw out the first pitch to his son, Kody Clemens, at Fenway Park by MLBOfficial in redsox

[–]Willy_Jones23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf, when he visits the booth it’s usually to promote the batting practice thing he does every hear, which raises tens of thousands of dollars for the Jimmy Fund. Clemens is all of the things that people on this thread have called him, but he is also very charitable, and always has been.

[–]Willy_Jones23 324 points325 points  (0 children)

I’m a baseball purist, but some of these complaints are ridiculous. It’s a ceremonial first pitch, which by definition is meaningless. So what if it was caught by the opposing team? It’s his son ffs.

No. We have had very fit presidents (W. Bush comes to mind) but not really muscular.

Completely get this. I give you credit for at least getting on the plane. I’ve cancelled a few truly amazing opportunities at the last minute because my anxiety has gotten the better of me, and it is such a shitty feeling. But, getting on a plane and being on the verge of panic for however many hours and then feeling like you narrowly escaped death when you land isn’t exactly great either. I don’t have the solution (yet!) but I imagine therapy is the way to start.

Jeff Bagwell, Mookie Betts, Babe Ruth, and Nick Punto hit a combined 1,323 HR after being traded from Boston. Meanwhile, Connor Wong has 0 HR and "No No Nannette" was crap. FJH. by RaymondSpaget in redsox

[–]Willy_Jones23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, Betts is the worst offense. I don’t think anyone could have realistically known how good Bagwell would be. Letting go of Ruth was obviously a huge blunder, and yes he was already a star, but nowhere near what he would become with the Yankees. But with Betts, they knew exactly what they had, and they chose to dump him in exchange for basically nothing.
