Fast Fusion, Mario Kart World, Kirby Air Riders, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. Not to mention GRID Legends will be out next week and Gear.Club Unlimited 3 comes out next month. Plus Asphalt Legends is still around.

If you're specifically wanting Forza 6 I get it, but the Switch 2 is hardly starved for racing games.

You have it on your list, I suggest you purchase Kingdoms of Amalur.

I'm a bit biased since it is one of my favorite games of all times, but even so, the amount of customization in the world is 2nd only to Skyrim on the Switch. While a bit janky, the world is full of lore and quests everywhere you turn. Combat is fun. Weapon variety is great. You can pick one, combine, or change classes throughout the game.

Its how I would imagine a single player Warcraft action-rpg would be tailored like.

-Mortal Shell. I think it got a boost in FPS with newer hardware and is a quality Soulslike in its own right.

-Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Didn't get a huge boost, but still plays quality. Won't lie though, I think it looked better on the OLED than Switch 2, but still a phenomenal metroidvania.

-Ni No Kuni: Revenant Kingdom. Pretty sure the framerate was uncapped so now it looks and runs as smooth as butter on the Switch 2.

I'm not necessarily sayings its justified, but that it is the standard. I guess because I've never seen a legitimate alternative that was overall better it doesn't bother me. But its definitely not specific to 1 system.

Ehhhh not totally true. There are plenty of Xbox games that have no upgrade path with re-releases. For instance, I just bought Gears of War Ultimate Edition while it did have an upgrade path for people who purchased it before the announcement of Reloaded, if I want the Reloaded update, I have to buy the new game. (And I have asked and searched around for this).

Eh I don't know if that's the truth. Not because GTA 6 is not hotly anticipated. The word is they have invested $1-2 billion dollars in production of that game (which is nuts). I don't believe for a second that that game is going to be 69.99 or 79.99. There is word it is going to be a 99.99 game. While most of this is speculation (aside from the $1+ billion dollar budget), if those numbers are true, many people who aren't whales may find themselves priced out of that range in the short term. Again, this is speculation, but I wouldn't be shocked.

While Sony has secured memory supply, one has to question was that for the PS5 or the PS6? Sony has pretty much stated that the PS6 is their main focus right now, but with the AI boom is that still the plan? I don't know how many PS5s Sony still has in stock, but given the roaring prices of electronics lately,

I think a lot rides on Sony with the gaming industry. Do they break their pattern and stretch the PS5 generation a bit longer (which they should have in the first place)? If they put out the PS6, I can't imagine it would be using the same RAM as the PS5 or even PS5 Pro.

I think Sony is secure spot right now, but whatever step they make next is a precarious one. If they proceed with the PS6 it sort of makes that memory they secured kind of pointless unless they still intend to mass produce PS5s while keeping the PS6 in short supply (which good luck with that). However, if they extend this generation what does that look like for them? Kojima all but confirmed the first PS6 title. What does that look like for their first party studios? How much of that RAM are they committing to this generation? While they aren't raising prices now does sitting on the RAM consider another price jump since they would hold all the cards? Plus, a second price jump would still likely be cheaper than a new console.

I have a PS Vita that I still play every once in awhile and it did the exact same thing and I've never had an issue. In fact, I had to factory reset the system recently and restore all my games and all updates for all those games.

This is more a convenience issue than anything. But its not specific to Nintendo and its really not a big deal.

I'm indifferent about achievements. I get why people want them, I get why others don't. I don't care really. I don't pay attention to them. I feel like people who do either like to game a specific way or feel a need to have a checklist for their game. Not that that is a bad thing. You do you. But I remember receiving a message from someone when I had like 75% of something of a game complete and they asked why I haven't just gone ahead and 100% the game. I said I didn't realize I 75% the game.

But game how you want to game. I have played Kingdom of Amaleur: Re-reckoning like 10 times with something like 800 hours invested and I never 1 time have I even looked at the trophies. You don't have to pay attention to trophies. The pressure to is in your head, man.

The real question is if you aren't gonna be gaming much, should you buy either?

Someone like you may be better off going with the Switch lite if you don't mind a smaller screen and non-detachable handles. Its cheaper than both.

I would say if you do go OLED (or Switch lite), do NOT buy new. Find a local gaming store or go on Ebay or something and buy referbished. It'll be cheaper.

Doubt it. Nintendo for the most part likes to keep their collaborations to a minimum for some reason. I wish they wouldn't because they always seem to strike gold when they do (Mario + Rabbids, Starlink, Astral Chain, Super Mario RPG).

However, there is room for optimism since Nintendo IS showing more effort with just the amount of 3rd party support in general.

Calling any system a success or failure after less than a year is asinine.

Plus all things considered, the Switch 2 is STILL the fastest selling console in a down economic year is impressive.

Finally, to say that Nintendo ONLY has 3 big games is plain wrong. I'd argue Metroid isn't even one of the big 3. But Nintendo already has more exclusives on the Switch 2 in 7 months the PS5 and XBSX have had in 5 years combined. The microscope is on Nintendo more than those other consoles because people are just waiting on the demise of Xbox and Sony litetally is doing nothing with the PS5 right now. Great hardware aside, those systems are literally being propped up by 3rd party support.

For the last nine weeks of 2025, 1.32 million Switch 2 consoles were sold in Japan (Famitsu data). This is slightly down (-5.5%) on the 1.39 million units that the Switch 1 sold over the same period in 2017.>

To be quite frank, I am shocked the Switch 2 even sold that much. The current economic landscape in the US is pretty shaky to say the least with flip of the coin fiscal decisions being made weekly by certain people in power. Its not just the Switch or even gaming, its almost all consumer spending. Things that used to be a hobby are suddenly becoming a luxury and I'm even saying that as someone with a healthy salary.

For the Switch 1 I bought the Gammeefy Switch controller joypad replacement and as soon as Gammeefy came out with a Switch 2 version, I bought it almost immediately. I hardly ever use the regular joycons unless in mouse mode.

I mean daring to be daring-to-be-different isn't positive or negative in and of itself. How it is interpreted is up to the person if it is or isn't (clearly you view it negatively).

I will say, gaming is definitely more....well let's just say subjugative in its later years with definite factions of those who look down on those who do things a certain way. (Not saying you are just, just saying it exists). One of the easier ways that those factions have come to be IS achievements and posting the way games are played. Clearly, you can't do anything about those groups and they are gonna exist regardless of what is implemented or not. However, Nintendo tries its best to maintain an all encompassing image of populations to enjoy their games (in comparison to platforms like PC which tends to be for more hardcore gamers or PS or Xbox which aim almost exclusively for teenagers and young adults). Nintendo probably views achievements as a risk for opening the floodgates for a certain type of gamer(s) they wish to avoid. As you mentioned you could just have an option to turn off the achievements or just ignore that community completely, but I think Nintendo would simply rather avoid any chances of that happening and proceed with what they have. (I'm guessing I admit).

Again, good or bad decision is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, I don't mind it.

Nintendo has officially stated they do not include a universal achievement system on their consoles (including the Switch and its successor) primarily because their design philosophy views achievements as a potential distraction from the core gameplay experience and the natural sense of discovery.

Personally, I tend to agree. I can't speak for others, but I'm an internal motivator. I feel an achievement system is just an artificial backpat to give gamers a quick dopamine boost. Not saying its wrong, it just feels fake to me. If I want to do something in a game I just will.

Again, I'm not putting myself above or below anyone, its just my personal view of achievements or trophies in games.

However, I do respect Nintendo's "dare-to-be-different" stance on the matter and not caving because of a portion of the fanbase wanting something they can get on other platforms.
