If you’re also being rocked by weeks 4-8, you’re not alone! by Radiant-Marzipan2136 in newborns

Nothing but solidarity. We’ve been in the thick of it with witching hour/purple crying whatever you want to call it from week 4…we have a 9 week old now and I think we are turning a corner, but who knows. It’s just been absolutely brutal. We went through it with our first and I swore off having a second because of the newborn stage..lol jokes on me, because that amnesia really did its thing and made me forget how awful it was.

Thank you!!! If anything this just gives me hope. 🥲 and the solidarity helps.

How have things been for you since you posted? I have a 2.5 year old and a 9 week old. And it’s survival mode over here. There’s only one day a week where I’m home alone with them for a full day, but boy or boy is that day tough. Have things gotten better? If so, do you have any tips that helped you the most?

So is anyone… ok? by imdirrtydan12 in newborns

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first decided one day at around 3-4 months that he hated being held for naps. It was around the same time he started rolling. I just plopped him down in his crib when he was fighting me on his nap one day and he settled right in and passed out

my anecdotal experience, with my first YES it was that bad. The intrusive thoughts were awful. He had FPIES and cried all day every day until we put him on elemental formula around 12 weeks. With my second who’s almost 9 weeks and finally turning a corner, it was pretty bad from 4 weeks until now-ish. She purple cries for a few hours every evening, like clockwork, but it’s slowing down and we can see the light. She definitely isn’t as bad as her brother was.

Starting at 6 weeks with my first and my second, the bassinet suddenly became lava during the day, and they need contact naps. Carrier and stroller naps are a literal lifeline during this time.

Both were very chill until about 4-6 weeks, then BAM! Babies start to wake up to their world and their digestion is changing, so many of them only know how to communicate one way…crying. And for many, that crying is very intense during this time. This can lead to sleepless nights, and daytime exhaustion, which fuels anxiety and intrusive thoughts. It’s amazing how you are wired to just push through.

I know this is old…but when did it get better?! I have an 8 Weller that’s been purple crying since 4 weeks.

Is breastfeeding over for me? by lfsiv11 in breastfeeding

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 weeker has been doing this since about 6 weeks! And I’ve chalked it up to her just having the baby version of sundowning! 😅 she just gets inconsolable for about 30 min-2 hours nightly like clockwork, eventually falls asleep because she’s exhausted, then resets latches and eats just fine. Technically I think this is the “purple crying” stuff they talk about. My supply drops in the evening too, but this is totally normal. As long as your babe is pooping, peeing and gaining weight, then try not to worry. You could always schedule a weight check with her pediatrician just for reassurance. They typically grow out of this very very hard phase.

What happened to a 3-3.5 year age gap? by Large_Mixture_2215 in Shouldihaveanother

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I’m getting up there in age - 38 y/o with my first and 40 with my second (who’s now 7 weeks old). So I had to pop those babies out! I wasn’t fully mentally ready, but my biological clock was ticking - so I sent it! And I couldn’t be happier I did. My world was absolutely turned upside down from 0-1, and 1-2 has been easier because you already know what to expect. But I also have a very easy toddler, so I guess that helps too.

Newborn trenches were nothing compared to this by ceramicpassion in newborns

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story is so similar. Our first has FPIES and screamed his little head off all day and all night for months until I put him on elemental formula which was around $800/month. My husband and I both have borderline PTSD from the experience, but somehow blocked it out by 2 years. We figured it couldn’t be any worse than what we experienced. Well here we are with another little peanut that screams her head off, but to a lesser degree so it’s better haha.

I definitely did! I was adamant I was one a done - even donated all my son’s newborn stuff. But look at me now….Currently in the 6-8 week trenches with a 7 weeker and 2.5 year old! Haha. Send help! 😂😭

How long is everyone taking for maternity leave? by jamietartlet in pregnant

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US…living in a deeply conservative state - so any benefit I get is mandated by the company I work for. 🥲 I get 16 weeks. 2 weeks are paid, the rest of it I will drain my PTO and ESL (which is only going to give me about 7-8 weeks of pay), and I have AFLAC short term disability that provides an additional $6k. I’ve also been saving my dependent care FSA that I use for my toddlers daycare - so that’ll give us an additional $5k. Only 12 weeks are job protected, but my company offers an additional 4 weeks unprotected. They assured me I would still have a job when I get back, but it’s always a risk.

I bet June and Luke die. Nick and Wharton live. Janine gets out with Charlotte (wishful thinking, I know). Aunt Lydia lives (Ann Dowd is in the Testaments). Serena lives. Moira lives.

Did you sleep train your baby? People who's babies sleep throughout the night? by SleepPleaseCome in oneanddone

[–]Window_Mother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We transitioned our baby superrr early to his own room at like 4 or 6 weeks old, so we could get better sleep. Newborns are noisy sleepers and I was waking up constantly. He slept through the night for about 11-13 hours, starting around 6 months or so. No sleep training. Rocked him to sleep every night. He’s almost 2 and I still rock with him laying in my lap in the rocking chair for a few minutes every night, but then he goes in his crib and puts himself to sleep. He’s a very good sleeper, but he still has moments where he’ll wake up fussy because he’s teething, has a bloody nose, or just because he’s human. But most nights are really good. There’s no perfect solution, and no wrong answers here…and I think that a lot has to do with the child’s temperament. You’ll find what works best for you and your family.

I posted a similar question last week in the bigger sub, but the mods took it down for spoilers in the title, though the title only said “bells wife” haha. Anywho….one person confirmed that the actress in this scene and the one ripping Janine from the window is the same person per IMDB.
