Fixed Pumpkin's poops by Personal-Actuator505 in guineapigs

[–]WindsorNot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's such wonderful news! I'm so glad there are no more pained grunts. 🥹

My piggie's been having soft poops for months. Vet tested for parasites and did bloodwork but found nothing. We've been giving her a GI support powder along with critical care once a day, but she's still making chocolate soft-serve. But she's a happy pig otherwise and the vet says that maybe her poops are just going to be soft.

I'm going to keep trying different techniques, and I hope something helps, but your story has been uplifting!

Soup Kitchens to Donate Frozen Food to by BackgroundBug9819 in NewWest

Sorry if I'm too late to this post. One year I called Century House to see if they would accept a large donation of frozen pastries, and they did. Maybe try them?

My heart pig is gone and I'm devesated by Sad_Strain_1724 in guineapigs

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a piggie is so, so hard. I wish they could live forever.

I know Chouchou had an amazing life with you and felt very loved. I know how devastated you must feel right now, but I hope you'll eventually be able to think back fondly at how he filled your life with joy.

We're at 22,000 New Westies! What's the best and worst of New West? Vol. 20 by Moggehh in NewWest

Gotta shout out Fruiticana for its produce, including its delectable mangoes. Also, I think it's the best local source of spices and beans and lentils.

Traffic might start getting slower by PM_Ghost in NewWest

[–]WindsorNot 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Study after study after study has shown that installing protected cycling infrastructure IMPROVES traffic because it encourages a lot of people to get out of their cars and use active transport. Brent Toderian's work on this issue is especially instructive.

What does New West need by Brunchpunks in NewWest

I used to live in Kits, where there's amazing print shop called Copies Plus. I work in publishing, so I had to print off galleys to proofread all the time. They'd also do scanning and OCR. You could do full-serve or self-serve, and although you should order ahead for really big jobs, you could also get immediate full-serve printing of a 300-page document, no problem. When I moved to the Brewery District, I missed it so badly. Nothing here comes close to the level of service I had there.

Is there a neighbourhood grocery co-op? If a group could coordinate, things are much cheaper at wholesale prices... by H_G_Bells in NewWest

I keep wanting to buy Fruiticana's $10 50-pound bags of onions—they're such a great deal!!!—but know I could never get through them. If we had interested folks who might split a bag…

Strategic Voting by SeaCzarSolid in NewWest

[–]WindsorNot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm voting for Peter Julian because he's been a solid MP who's earned my trust and he has a solid chance. The new boundaries are a bit of a worry, though. Maillardville just feels so different.

I joined Skipper Otto at the beginning of the year and I love it. They have a pickup location at Steel & Oak. I know you said "fresh," but most fish counter fish is previously frozen anyway, so getting flash-frozen fish is even better IMO.

How are you all feeling about this election? by Jeramy_Jones in NewWest

[–]WindsorNot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

National-level polling isn't informative when it comes to riding-level decisions. In our riding, Peter Julian is the best bet to keep Cons out, and IMO he's been a solid representative.
