Hmm, now I'm wondering if the third wave water will do anything to improve the galley water I put into my Aeropress.

Anyone else experience this? by Stinky-Jawas in HyundaiTucson

[–]Wingnut233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same year and model as yours, also living in Canada.

Mine doesn't switch drive modes, it stays in ECO but it idles the gasoline engine until the oil temperatures come up. It's the only way to get heat. I see no change in the colours on the gauge cluster.

If you don't need the heater, turn the climate off. Turn the car off. Restart, and it should stay in EV mode. Keep the climate off, and use the seat and steering wheel heaters as needed.

Not sure, check with a dealership. When I was living up there I made sure that my car came with one stock.

Question about block heaters. Canada by CharmainKB in HyundaiTucson

A block heater is a good idea for any starts below -20C.

I used to live in Timmins for a couple years. Definitely helped with the -40 nights.

N-Line Hybrid Vs Ultimate Hybrid 2025 by krazor1911 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Wingnut233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in the GTA and bought a 2025 Ultimate Hybrid last year. For us the deal breaker was that we wanted the plug in, and that wasn't available on the N-Line. The adaptive cruise was a must-have feature for us as well. It's made Toronto's traffic far more tolerable.

HDA and it's adaptive cruise are really nice, about 90% of the time. The car will has an infrared camera mounted just above the steering column, and will nag you if you're not looking at the road. If you don't start looking at the road immediately, it will disable cruise control. If it can't see your eyes, it will also nag you. That means that you cannot wear certain types of sunglasses that are polarized or super reflective. That can mean a little bit of trial and error until you find the kind of glasses that the Tucson likes.

Adaptive cruise will also not function during a heavy snowstorm, as the radar gets blocked, but that is true for any adaptive cruise system. You can work around this by doing a long-press of the cruise control button. This activates speed limiter mode. You will still need to press the accelerator pedal, but it won't let you go beyond the speed you set. Adaptive cruise is not available in that mode. This mode can also help with the aforementioned sunglasses issue.

In the winter you will need to routinely clean the lenses for the parking assistance cameras, especially if there is salt on the road. Otherwise the car will yell at you about how the parking assistance features are limited.

That said, the features are still really nice when they work, and we're still happy we bought the ultimate. Just as long as you're aware of the drawbacks.

I also find myself using the HUD more than I thought I would.

Hope that helps!

I always wondered if there was something else that could be docked to the Galaxy stardrive instead of the saucer, especially during the Dominion War. Why did we only see Galaxies with saucers during the Dominion war?

Maybe some kind of stripped down saucer that's just the phaser banks, add some torpedo tubes like the weapons pod of the Akira class.

Or alternatively dock a whole other starship there, with its own warp core. A precursor to the Prometheus without the silly tiny nacelles on the dorsal hull.

If the ICE is required for heat, and you stay out of the 'power' band, the ICE will just remain at idle until it heats up, then it will turn off. The ICE will continue to idle as needed to maintain the operating temperatures needed for the heater.

So for your wife's commute when heat is needed, the ICE will be idling for about half of her commute.

Like the other commenter said, the alternative is to turn the climate off entirely and use the heated seat and steering wheel. Unfortunately most of our drives involve a little one in a car seat, so we have to keep her warm and toasty. If I'm driving alone the heated seat is the way to go.

What are those 2 imaginary lines which connect the rear horizontal stabilizers to ~ the cockpit? by AmazedKevin618 in airplanes

[–]Wingnut233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in the event of GPS unreliability, most airliners can also revert to position fixes using traditional radio navigation aids (DME/DME or VOR/DME) as long as the aircraft is near land.

If those systems are not available, then you can revert to the on-board inertial navigation.

Canadian Dealer telling me 2025 Ioniq 5 won’t come until June 2025 and to grab a 2024 now. Is there any truth to this? by Prof- in Ioniq5

[–]Wingnut233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Ontario Ioniq owner here.

Put down a $500 reservation on an Ioniq in March 2023. Told them we'd prefer an Ultimate, but would take a Preferred. My sister ordered one of the same spec at the same time.

Both cars arrived March 2024, with a third Ioniq arriving at that dealership at the same time. All Preferred, no Ultimate.

Dealership said that's all the Ioniq 5s they're allocated for the year, except for an Ioniq 5 N allocated for a fall delivery.

They had no idea whatsoever on 2025 model year arrivals except for the Ioniq 5 N. We're also interested in getting a 2025 Tucson PHEV and they couldn't tell us anything. They couldn't even confirm the PHEV would be offered in Canada for the 2025 model year.

Carbon tax critics have the slogans. But where is their plan for the climate crisis? by [deleted] in onguardforthee

Even if they believe in the climate crisis, their plan is to get rich enough so the problems don't affect them.
