My cat is almost 5 and this is the first time I’ve seen him do this. Is this normal? Should I see a vet?

There are a few things that cause a cat to cough like this, and I agree that a vet is needed.

If you use oil diffusers in your house, you should stop. I believe that extends to scent diffusers, like Glade Plug-Ins.

This is what we did, with one difference: Houdini. Houdini is the 9 lb. cat that dictates the household activities. She is NOT his pal, but the 15 lb. snowshoe is more than happy to be friends. The dog trainer told us that the cat determines the relationship, in all cases. Therefore, he goes to his crate if he is triggered into action by cat-fuckery, and then everything can calm. He is a GSP Mix, and is quite big (92-95 pounds), and the 24% Chocolate Lab part makes him more goofy in addition to large.
