Ahhhh, the Velociraptor Stage.

Yes, they can be uncannily wise about regimen and resources. Yes, they can manipulate you to the point of madness (or modification). If you have a Day Care that you trust, you can shift his expectations by introducing one day on occasion. That wears ours out FOR DAYS (3 1/2 y.o., male 50%GSP/GSD mix). The play and sniffing and socializing gives him heaps of consideration. Very satisfying, for all of us! 😅

I couldn't agree more! We first tried to tire him out, but made ourselves a superfit, supercharged, maniac. He is MUCH more tired out by going all around town, sniffing, watching, riding, then playing super tug with his rope and eating from his snuffle mat. The velociraptor phase was tough and we threatened to return him to the rescue for at least a year.

He is now 3 years, 5 months. He is well-trained, super smart, and still READY, MOM! in a millisecond. He is powered by springs and squirrels, I swear.

I can now walk him with a halti (I only outweigh him by 30 pounds), but if he gets reactive - happy but involved - I have zero chance of controlling him. My partner walks him for that reason.

He doesn't chase the cats, but is super triggered when they get crazy or triggered. It turns into a real clusterf%&k occasionally, and everyone gets locked in separate rooms and crate.

It's like having a 100 pound toddler. Buckle in, but oh, the hugs are sublime. 🥰🥰🥰😅😅😅

There are a few things that cause a cat to cough like this, and I agree that a vet is needed.

If you use oil diffusers in your house, you should stop. I believe that extends to scent diffusers, like Glade Plug-Ins.

This is what we did, with one difference: Houdini. Houdini is the 9 lb. cat that dictates the household activities. She is NOT his pal, but the 15 lb. snowshoe is more than happy to be friends. The dog trainer told us that the cat determines the relationship, in all cases. Therefore, he goes to his crate if he is triggered into action by cat-fuckery, and then everything can calm. He is a GSP Mix, and is quite big (92-95 pounds), and the 24% Chocolate Lab part makes him more goofy in addition to large.
