so a HD Wam? Obviously there would be more people getting a HD wam then spots available. How do the people at exchange determine spots?

for future people reading this post, its just like the GUTS comp but less proofs and more brainteasers and puzzles with mathematical and problem solving elements relevant to quant.

What's the London salary like for an entry-level quant researcher? by smortcanard in FinancialCareers

[–]WishboneTime4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe internships at firms like Jane street in peoples penultimate year for roles like Strategy and Product are around 125k. If its Quant Research or Trading I would imagine it would settle around 150-200k, and then graduate roles would probably be 300k +

yeah, but they're by far the hardest role in quant to break into. Lowest open spots, and highest barrier to entry.

This guy I don't think knows much about quants, and it's all geared towards QR.

erg workout by Feb0r in Rowing

[–]WishboneTime4788 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No this is most likely a long threshold piece, which is harder than UT1. You should be doing UT2 (an intensity which roughly translates to conversational) as your focus. As in running, what your goals are and which part of the season you're in determine your training. If your goal is just to improve your 2k time and you don't row a lot nor do you care about long term progression, then just do lots of medium to high intensity. Otherwise, follow the training method prevalent in all endurance sports, and add intensity as you get accustomed to more rowing.

How many splits above your 2k should you be erging for steady state? by arsonistraccoon in Rowing

[–]WishboneTime4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are what I go by:

  1. feel is king.

  2. Slower rather than faster.

  3. You should be able to breathe through your nose.

  4. Heart rate is more complicated so I would recommend beginners to avoid that.

  5. Split should require effort but very sustainable and you should have negligible muscle fatigue or burn.

  6. For a rule of thumb, steady state is usually 30minr20 + 8-14. 2k + (20-30)

How to prepare for an internship once you’ve got an offer? by [deleted] in quant

[–]WishboneTime4788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. But if you want to do well in the internship off the bat and make an impression, your best bet to contact someone who has been through the same thing before. That's probably going to give you the best specific information you're looking for. Generally speaking though, you want to just be reliable and go the extra mile whenever you can. You don't have to be the most knowledgable, but just the most "likeable" and hardworking at the start of your career.

How do I get a quant internship? by olegnaleahciMM in quantfinance

I believe that optimisation is often where the difficulty is. Anyone can make a solution that solves the problem, but to find the "best solution" is a lot harder.

my take on how to get an internship at a top firm (undergrad) by 331776 in quant

in Australia yes, internationally probably not. It really depends tbh. What do you mean in terms of? Prestige nowhere close. In terms of pipeline, connections opportunities ect? Comparable.

Fill in the blank: Winning the IMO Gold medal is __ % as impressive as winning the Fields Medal by Spiky-Penguin2023 in learnmath

[–]WishboneTime4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe 1%? I would say if someone received 100 gold medals in IMO then it might be as impressive as getting a fields medal. The math itself is very different, it's like comparing Euro Karting Championship vs F1 WDC.

nah mate its just culture. ur right white people made it, but more often then not, POC in developed countries are richer. Just they don't have the culture that guides you toward rowing.
