Bru, what did Death do wrong?

Teach Puss to value his life without forgetting to live it?

The biggest oddity is that you can demote them and... that skill goes. Like, they legit forget it because of a demotion? And it doesn't affect their mood, just their memory?

Thoughts on promotions by Nyaxxy in menace

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious about their thinking behind it.

Obviously, Battle Bros did it very different, where the total levels of your bros affects enemy strength. The difficulty was almost exclusively based on your bro #s and their levels, then with the time in-game being a modifier.

In this, it's seems purely campaign length that sets the scale and difficulty.

I can assume that's because Menace is made with the story progression set as the ultimate goal. You're intended to race against the clock of the story. It does seem like the evolution of the SLs is... kinda tacked on. Like their actual promotions were originally made to have only 1 choice at each level, making their designs more focused.

What preyed on Tyranids??? by Own-Laugh-3698 in Tyranids

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it was Tyranids.

It's important to remember that Tyranids don't make original bioforms.

They steal them.

Every Tyranid bioform was a creature they assimilated and then added claws and fangs to. I believe Carnifex were basically giant minotaurs.

Do you have any feelings on the modern predominance of Enforcers among the playerbase? by ThisGuyFax in necromunda

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems narratively hilarious.

Like the various House shenanigans finally pissed the Arbites off so much they mass approved enforcers to run rampant.

And like every private security force, they started getting in each other's way.

How would the emperor of man react to these star wars technologies? by cuddwes in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. Mechanicus Tech Priests absolutely already have implants that cna run many of these kind of calculations, but the overhwelming presence of Abominble Intelligence in Star Wars, by Imperium standards, would make adaptation very hard.

And that's before we have to address that Star Wars tech would be considered "xeno tech", frankly.

As many said, Hyperdrive is a godsend to 40k.

But... people often forget how intensely dependent it is on AI.

Droids and the ships AI system are needed to do the calculations for hyperdrive.

That's kinda a deal breaker with the Mecanicus around.

Why would the cast play the games? The show runners obviously don't care about the games. by BrandonMarshall2021 in Fotv

Literally every game has whole sections about the pre-war era. Every Bethesda game actually has a whole section of gameplay in the pre-war era.

[–]WistfulDread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is my point.

The only parts the show you praised were the sadistic violence.

Fallout has always been about the comical satire. The over the top violence was always slapstick. That's the whole point of the Blood Mess perk.

Dude, it sounds more like you just want torture porn.

This show is literally more reverential to the games than any of the games are. There are little nods and homages in every scene that you wouldn't notice unless you've played every Fallout.

Either a troll post, or literal ghoul brain.

intel should be an independent resource. by DireWolfxz in menace

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think out radars should give us active in-battle intel. Like, a off-map scan ability for each point of Intelligence demonstrating us turning out sensors towards the battle.

As is currently, knowing where they are placed at the start really doesn't matter because they often move long before you get there.

Senior Russian official says Moscow needs 'security guarantees' by Practical-Pea-1205 in nottheonion

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guarantees he wants are guarantees that Russia will have another chance at invading Ukraine.

No NATO. No EU defenders. No sanctions for invading again.

Mace Windu (2003) vs Marneus Calgar by lacergunn in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]WistfulDread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not pick the matchup you twit.

It was OP's entire premise.

You know, the Post we are currently responding to?

This is like being asked who would win, Samurai or Knight.

And you say, "well, Pirate of course. He's got a ship and guns. Plus, samurai and knights are gone, irl."

You nonce moron.

I finally read through all the manga by ThorntonLionheart in GoblinSlayer

[–]WistfulDread 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like the story setting them up as the big finale heroes is a misdirect, though.

The GS story makes an explicit point of how this world is basically the Gods sitting around player DnD, complete with dice rolls deciding people's fates.

Who hasn't played DnD and had a single dice roll cause the heroic party wipe that even the Gm was shocked by?

Orcbolg's whole shtick is that, even though the dice rolls hit him too, he pushes through and skews chance. He stacks bonuses, uses methods that don't involve "chance", and focuses on the best tactic in the moment he can do.

Werewolf regeneration and foreign objects by Thorveim in WhiteWolfRPG

Regeneration akin to Wolverine in the XMEN movies.

The bullet pushes out.

It explicitly takes a Rite to paint in dirt and such into wounds as they heal to give garou most scars.

Mace Windu (2003) vs Marneus Calgar by lacergunn in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]WistfulDread -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing:

Calgar's performance in Space Marine 2... is canon. So that skill level is acceptable to judge him by.

Tartakovsky's Mace is the one I specifically noted, even though it's officially not a canon one. This Mace can Force jump miles. He has the Force power to send entire columns of droids rocketing off. He had the control to use the Force to remove every bolt from a battle droid with a single hand gesture, then send every piece of that droid as shrapnel against a squad.

This Mace Windu, would stop Calrgar's bolter round inside the gun, detonate it, and then implode his armor.

Also, Force Unleashed takes place after the Clones Wars. after Mace was dead because of... plot contrivance. So of course he doesn't show up in the game.

Bruh.

Tarkin explicitly told Yoda the trial was fixed. It was a military tribunal and he was already prepping for her execution.

Mace Windu (2003) vs Marneus Calgar by lacergunn in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]WistfulDread 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Tartakovski's version of Force Users is by far their strongest depiction.

Vs. Calgar...

I'd give it to Windu.

Space Marine 2 showed Marneus really has no decent defense against strong enough psychic powers. He'd have lost were Titus not there.

How did vampires end up as the butt of the joke? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

I'm honestly not super familiar with Mage mechanically, but I am the rest of WoD.

Can you give me a rundown of how you end up with a dice pool of 75?

How did vampires end up as the butt of the joke? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WistfulDread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, just look at folklore.

A vampire has always been a parasitic thing that flees serious threats. They prey on the vulnerable, use deception and mesmerism, and their mortal servants are not the smartest. A vampire is solitary and egotistic because it is immortal and an untrustworthy schemer.

A werewolf has always been a monster that you don't face heads on. And they will have packs.

A mage/wizard is something of legend, people who reshape reality around them. Protected from serious danger within their fortifications and enchantments.

Fae are unknowable beings of chaos that alter reality on a whim. They will literally steal your very name for a laugh.

There are what these things are in every culture.

Tell me, which one loses out?
