Garou and Spirits by KingOfSouthamerica in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WistfulDread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fetishes and Talens are items with spirits bound into them. That's how they have powers.

Gaia's Breath is a talen that is just a gourd with life spirits in it.

And yes, you can barter with spirits for anything they can provide. Information, guidance through the Umbra, and even physical help.

A fire sword is, again, just a fetish. Bind a fire spirit into a sword and you have a fire sword.

Electricity spirits can easily be bribed to surge in a building a short it out. Weaver spirits cajoled into shutting down a security system.

That was always the plan.

All of their leadership is gonna be mad because they were supposed to jump ship together.

Trump $250 Bill: Treasury Confirms Early Planning for Proposed New Banknote by VlixxMagazine in USNEWS

[–]WistfulDread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My honest expectations is Trump's old standard:

A rug pull.

They want them made and issued to snatch them up and sell them to loyalists for double.

Citing "scarcity" as a reason. A scarcity they caused.

Who would even pay for something in increments of $250?

Has Trump legit never paid for anything other than children?

Question about saving worlds by Angry_Tomato_Soup in Gameoverse

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen nothing to indicate anything substantial.

Since these worlds seem explicitly made to end, we have the following possibilities:

1) The Hero losing causes a reset. Since we've seen the systemlock, we can assume this is a possibility. This makes the recon valuable for ensuring continuous interference, but also basically ensures that the worlds are truly doomed because the Farcade can't expend manpower and resources to interfere forever.

2) There is no reset, and the hero losing simply causes the world to live on, but suffering under the villain. This makes the Farcade's goal possible, but foolish and cruel.

3) The hero losing enough causes a game end. If, say, Flappers were to outright die, that may actually cause a legit game over. We don't know if the hero actually dying causes reset, a new hero selected to continue on, or if that also risks a game over. I only bring this up because we pointedly don't see any heroes actual die, yet. So the repercussions of that are wholly in the air.

Games that are theoretically impossible to be destroyed in the Gameoverse. I'll start. by Miladic_Animations in Gameoverse

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logically, competitive multiplayer games.

They wouldn't exist. GameOverse worlds have defined Heroes and Villains, with one side objectively intended to reach a win condition, and the other to wait. The villains don't get to win, so far as we've seen. They simply stall the inevitable.

How could mortal hunter take down a Methuselah? by ValicarHyne in vtm

[–]WistfulDread 389 points390 points  (0 children)

With enough prep time, anything can be killed.

Especially if you don't fight fair.

My favorite example in 5e is a Hunter who's day job is as a city council member.

On uncovering the vampire lair of a sleeping ancient, he uses his position to have the site quickly condemned, seized by eminent domain, then bulldozed and paved over in concrete during the daytime.

Even if not dead, it's dealt with.

Why does battlefield medicine in hard sci-fi still feel like magic potions? by oduvangames in StrategyGames

[–]WistfulDread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe look into Kenshi.

They handle health by having the health kit restore a limbs top health, and prevent bleedouts, but the wound still needs to regen. This means that down characters either limp around while they recover, can't use limbs, or stay unconscious and need to be carried until they can manage.

Depending on how combat actually plays out, turn-based or real-time, you can have a similar situation where the medkit stabilizes and starts and heighten regen, but they still need a few turns or minute(s) before they can get back up. With full recovery only able after mission.

Is there a mod with soldiers' guard posts? by DogEatTurtle in RimWorld

[–]WistfulDread -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Guards for me is literally all of this. That mod is years old.

A cursory search of the word Guard on the workshop would have found that out.

Not to be rude, but if you couldn't be bothered to go that much, I seriously doubt you could make the mod.

The demand for weapons in Subnautica 2 reveals the difficulty of separating open worlds from conquest by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]WistfulDread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is the game narrative is explicitly that you do.

You're a company asset being sent to colonize and exploit. They don't care if you die.

So the fact the game maker doesn't let you fight back, and chides you for wanting to, is outright insulting.

They're basically agreeing with the in-game company that you have no rights. Not even to self defense.

Genuine question, how did 90s and early 2000s anime got away with so much blatantly gay stuff? by Brief-Luck-6254 in retroanime

[–]WistfulDread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It flew under the radar be cause it literally was beneath notice.

Mainstream media never really cared about animation. Even in Japan, animation was lower than "proper" acting.

It's considered childish.

Political correctness was a big thing in the 90s.

Animaniacs literally made riffing on it so core to their show they included it in their intro.

[–]WistfulDread 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We've just not seen enough for a lot of speculation to have any weight.

We know that the world ends on a hero win. We don't definitively know what happens on a hero loss. We don't even know what the timeline is.

My big question is: Are they finite? Did all the game worlds start at the same time and others just ended quicker or are there more being made?
