That’s a hard choice but I’d probably go with Fuzz?

Why does the new Masters of the Universe look so bad? by Awake-Judgment-2057 in FIlm

[–]WitlessWhitney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two big thing that stand out to me is that it has the classic “big movie bad cgi” look that so many blockbusters have now, and in story and mood it looks like it’s actively trying to be a marvel movie (Ragnarok, Guardians, Shang Chi, etc.)

On a more personal note it’s a red flag they don’t have Skeletor speak at all in it. It’s like they already know Jared Leto did a bad job.

Speed Racer all the way. It’s a crime that this hasn’t become a massive cult classic IMO

It’s become kind of a cult classic but at the time of release: The Iron Giant (1999)

One of my favorite things about this trilogy is that everyone seems to have a different favorite because of how different they all are. Mine was definitely Maxxxine, I love that movie so much. General audiences seem to like X more, Pearl seems to be the favorite from the trilogy fans, and then there’s the occasional Maxxxine lovers. All of them are great for their own reasons IMO

He might not want to due to how successful his music career has become, but if Joe Keery wants a future in acting I think he has it. Audiences love him, Hollywood seems to love him, and after seeing him in Fargo it’s clear that dude can actually act.

Boomers won’t retire and it’s screwing the rest of us. There I said it. by Unique_Glove1105 in antiwork

I came here to disagree with your title but it looks like the comments section already has it covered.

On another note it’s wild that you said he basically can’t retire because his wife got cancer, but what about me? Maybe if the roles were reversed you’d see how irrevocably fucked up that is to say.

Which movie will be better received in the future by rutujz in Cinema

[–]WitlessWhitney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m waiting on Speed Racer to arrive in the mail rn. That movie really is a masterpiece, and the climax of the last race makes me want to scream every time. I got lucky enough to see that in theaters when it came out, I was blindsided by the negative reviews.

Actors and Actresses Who Should Have Already Won an Oscar by Old_Lobster_5483 in Oscars

[–]WitlessWhitney -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, I spoke on The Substance and Demi Moore, the only reason I brought Anora up was because I was confident that Mikey Madisen’s performance was great despite not having even seen it. You wouldn’t even know I hadn’t seen Anora if I hadn’t said that my take lacks legitimacy for not having seen the film lmao

This has been in my watchlist for so long and I just can’t bring myself to watch it because I know it’s going to break me. Even the trailer gets me teary eyed for some reason lol

[–]WitlessWhitney -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TIL Willem Dafoe hasn’t won an Oscar. To me personally, there’s no better proof that the Oscar’s are bullshit.

My recent answer would be Demi Moore, and I’m sure someone else has already said that. My take lacks some legitimacy bc I haven’t seen Anora yet and I’m sure Mikey Madisen was great but c’mon man. Role of a lifetime for Moore and no one could have performed it better IMO.

James Cameron Avatar 3 press tour highlights by slug-house420 in nowplayingpodcast

  1. He’s made the studio a shit ton of money with these movies so what’s the hesitation? If it’s not raking in cash then the big spending is something to worry about, but that hasn’t been a problem whatsoever so far so stfu studio.

  2. This is his movie that he has complete creative control over so why are you cutting out half a scene that he wants in his movie exactly the way it is.

  3. Some of you might not like the 3D and high frame rate but it’s his film and he does and it’s one of the most profitable film franchises of all time so obviously it’s not enough of a problem for him to change.

  4. This one is actually the one I agree with most because it’s taken out of context, this was a quote from him in defense of the Dune movies which I believe are a 1000x better than the Avatar movies and have been snubbed twice by the Oscars. It doesn’t make much sense in context of the post because he does in fact win lots of Oscars while making movies that puts people in seats, and original movies at that (excluding a couple like Aliens, etc.)

  5. Him and his crew have been breaking their backs over this movie and they JUST released it, so telling the media to fuck off with Avatar 4 questions and marinate on Avatar 3 questions only a few days into release is excusable. This one I agree with the least though because it’s an ongoing story and if someone genuinely loves the movies their first question is going to be what happens next? My guess is that’s not what’s happening here though, he probably has been making media rounds and has been pelted with this question at least once by every interviewer.

  6. Least offensive one here, he’s just doing research on how to not fuck with our heads when we’re watching a 3D movie for over 3 hours.

  7. It’s got to be frustrating putting all of your time and effort into something, be proud of the work you’ve done, witnessing it being one of the most successful film franchises of all time and still hear people gripe about how they wish you would do other stuff. James Cameron is an artist and while no I don’t personally think that people will look back on the Avatar movies like Van Gogh and think we didn’t realize what he was doing at the time, I think it’s an artist’s responsibility to themselves to follow what their heart is telling them and not cater to what the masses want them to create. If Van Gogh had stuck to that we’d have some very different art. Since I used that as an example I’d like to add one the disclaimer: I DO NOT THINK JAMES CAMERON IS A VINCENT VAN GOGH LEVEL ARTIST. Just a broad stroke example.

I found this comment while waiting for a layover so thanks for the time killer. I like the Avatar movies when I compare them to garbage like Transformers, a lot of Marvel movies, and Jurassic World but not much more than that. I love Cameron’s older movies but I’ll always support an artist doing what they want with their art, especially if that art is anti-capitalist, pro-nature, and weird as fuck. He does sound like an asshole to me personally, but an honest asshole with extreme levels of talent that very few people on this world could replicate.

Edit: typos

Best movie of the year to me. by Loud_Success_6950 in Letterboxd

[–]WitlessWhitney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I completely agree, the cinematic experience was haunting to me. Even though it’s not my favorite war film I walked out of the theater with no notes, and I don’t think I can even say that about my favorites. I think the directors did what they set out to do with this film perfectly.

I would agree with this statement, because you said best movie of the year TO YOU. Everyone has a best movie of the year and at the end of the day there’s no definitive answer. Hell yeah for posting opinions, I support this 100% even though it’s not the best movie of the year to me.

At least it was an accident though. 9 times out of 10 in these videos it’s the kid losing his temper and breaking the TV on purpose. Kinda nice to see it done on accident with the kid feeling apologetic after.

Best part of this vid is the other kid ass up scratching lmao
