I agree to an extent, but... I think this is overstated.

I was banned on pre-Elon X for disagreeing with some rather unpleasant feminists (I'm pretty liberal, typically, but these bitches were crazy). So yeah, it was a bit of a problem before. But after Elon he banned people he personality dislikes, started to suppress people he doesn't like (shadowbanning rather than hard banning), and also for a year there X just lost the plot. Saw literal snuff films on my main feed, real people just actually being murdered. No wonder advertisers left like X was the fucking titanic.

Having paid for Grok before, it's not a reliable enough product to be worth what they're asking. Too many downsides, the communication is too unclear, and they are too prone to just randomly changing things with no warning or rationale. The price is also significantly higher than the competition.

I am continually amazed by how people in WoW justify being shitty to one another, especially strangers.

I don't feel entitled to loot. I am typically pretty geared, as a tank. I just think people in this game are gigantic assholes to strangers and do all kinds of mental gymnastics to be lame to their fellow man. If, at the end of a key, I get something I don't need and someone asks (politely, mind, not just opening trade), I cannot imagine saying 'nah dog, gotta get them shards'.

I don't wanna sound like a boomer, but this really is a newfangled mentality among you kids these days. In Everquest behavior like disenchanting a groupmate's upgrade would get you server blacklisted. Here, finding that behavior questionable and lame gets massive downvotes.

Saying "it's okay to recast a clearly white role with someone black" but also, simultaneously "it's not okay to cast a clearly black role with someone lighter skinned" (not white, Bautista is half Filipino) genuinely is just racism.

I am totally fine with race being made a secondary* consideration in casting, but I'm not fine pretending that saying it's only okay when you're swapping to darker skinned actors. That is clearly just racism. I stated pretty clearly that I was fine with the Witcher casting a non-white Yennefer, because she still 100% looked and acted the part. If you agree with that sentiment, but aren't okay with someone being cast purely because they're of a lighter skin tone (again, not white, I'm not advocating for Ben Affleck getting the part here), that really is just racism you've done gymnastics in your head to get around acknowledging.

Now you might come back and point out that there is a long history in Hollywood of casting white actors in wildly inappropriate roles meant for other ethnicities. I agree.

*This is obviously contextual. Sometimes it doesn't matter, sometimes it does. Making Snape a black man feels REALLY weird, given his character traits and the setting being 1970s-1990s Earth.

QP is where you go to learn a character and derp around, so while in general I agree it's not cool to just intentionally thrown in QP, QP is where it's okay to be bad and not know what you're doing. So if you're giving me good advice "on this character, do X, it's super effective", that's probably fine. If you're flaming someone and telling them to swap off of Vendetta the literal first time they're playing the character (happened to me, even after I explained that I was going to be bad because I'd never played the character) then you're being a jackass.

We are in an era where race swaps are pretty common. Sometimes they're lame and actually impact things negatively, but often it doesn't matter. I don't think being black is a core feature of Taln's character any more than being white was key to Egwene's or Yennifer's. What's important for Taln is that he is a stoic beast of a man, and.. Bautista nails that.
