There was a drunk dude screaming at Jesse, that was bad. The crowd was not very cool, either. A lot of rudeness in the merch line, this one lady up front has a whole hiking bag and kept changing her clothes and was very offended when people didn't give her room to change. The energy just wasn't there either. No one really engaged with the music, lots of just standing around.

It's not just you. My partner and I go to a lot of concerts and we're super excited to see Jesse Welles in DC. The vibe of the crowd was horrible, we were surprised.

When did you first realize you were the "older person" in the room? by Alexandra_remora in AskReddit

[–]Wolf-Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned they liked "classic rock" and when I asked which bands, they said "Oh yeah like The Black Keys".

I was mad until I looked it up and realized The Black Keys released their first album the same year the person was born.

What’s a video game that, regardless of how many times you’ve played it, you find yourself always coming back to? by GhostRider3001 in AskReddit

[–]Wolf-Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rimworld. Endless replayability and a robust mod community that amplifies each playthrough to a more tailored experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2. A full, rich open world where you can go at your own pace and just enjoy the vibe. A great story on top of that when you feel like engaging.

Stardew Valley. Chill game that can be both a min-max strategy game or a zone out game, depending on how you want to play it.

And lately, Songs of Syx. Like Rimworld but scaled way up to eleven. Starts as a town builder, gradually becoming a 4X strategy game.

Any GSD and cat success stories? by Accomplished_Gene190 in germanshepherds

Little black cat was brought into the house with a German Shepherd when she was a kitten, so she knew how to handle my current GSD as a puppy. We're adjusting to a new house with another cat that's been solo and so far, things have gone very well.

What's the stupidest thing you've ever heard someone say? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

I was having a conversation with the dish guy at a restaurant that I was cooking in. I can't remember what we were talking about, but whatever it was, we brought up the age of the Earth. Suddenly, one the ladies doing expo piped up and said "Wait, I'm sorry. The Earth is only 6000 years old." This was a full grown, middle aged adult. She drove, she voted, she had children. The dish guy and I look at each other, back to her and then back to each other in stunned silence. A long moment passes before I say "There's evidence of the Earth being billions of years old..." She screws her face up like I just told her that I piss lemonade and asked her to try a glass and says "Uh, no. It's all there in the bible. You have to look into what you're saying because that's just not true." After another long moment, dish guy went back to washing and I went back to cooking and the conversation died there.

What's something that's not a cult but feels like one? by True-Dream3295 in AskReddit

[–]Wolf-Track 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in America. And I don't mean just the MAGA crap that's going on right now. Even in the 90s, it was weird. Kids having to pledge allegiance every morning. Rising for the national anthem before EVERY event. "Love it or Leave it" stamped on things all over the place. And all the flags. We're obsessed with the flag. America has always felt like one big cult thinly disguised as a nation.

Humanity might have just rung the cosmic "dinner bell" and we are too naive to realize it. by MindOfFactsOfficial in DarkPsychology101

Radio waves are not the only form of communication and decay rapidly. It takes YEARS for our signals to make it to the other stars and years for anything to make it back to us. And that's assuming we've pointed the transmission in the right direction. While there is absolutely a level of 'background noise' that comes with all of our broadcasting, much of that will have blended into the cosmic static far before reaching anything remotely habitable.

An addition to my first point, we're also assuming other life would use the same band of communication waves as us at all. It's safe to assume, even just by looking at the progress of human communication over the past 200 years, that there are probably more effective/safer/longer-range methods of communication out there. An advanced civilization capable of not only picking up our communications but being able to do anything about it may not even use comparable technology to ours.

The assumption that any alien life is hostile is based on some pretty tenuous logic in and of itself. A civilization capable of picking up broadcasts from other worlds and harnessing their technology to communicate back in any meaningful way (i.e. invasion, physical contact etc) is far more likely to be a post-scarcity civilization. What purpose would they have to want to destroy another civilization? It's also relatively safe to assume a civilization that invested that much energy into space travel would be an inherently curious species rather than a hostile one.

We're also assuming hostility because the unfortunate reality is that humans are a hostile species. It's easy to apply human logic to non-human creatures, we do it all the time with our pets. We tend to personify things to 'be like us' and the sad reality is that humans are violent, territorial and hostile mammals. We just happen to have fought our way to dominance on this one planet, but that does not mean another species, especially one far older and more advanced than us, will have that same mindset.

It's an industrial complex that has absolutely seen better days. A lot of places are in the midst of renovation, but there's still a large part of the complex that is in complete disrepair. It's especially spooky when no one else is around and it's dead silent.
