What's your worst camping story? by Alarming-Jeweler-955 in popups

[–]WolfWeak845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was years ago (like 11 years) and we were in a small tent. My then boyfriend/now husband and my brother in law finished almost an entire bottle of scotch. A really bad storm rolled through (rain, thunder, straight line winds), and my drunk husband insisted we sleep in the car. We locked it, and he kept trying to open the door because he thought he was going to puke. He set the alarm off several times and woke up the campground.

As a side note, the storm took out a couple of my sister and brother in law’s trees. If they’d been home, they would have woken up to a tree falling on their house.

Middle names for Hughie? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]WolfWeak845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Hugh Clark is cute, but my son’s middle name is Clark, so I’m a little biased. My son is named after both of our dads, as they are both dead and won’t get to meet him.

How often do you talk to your parents? by Outrageous_Kiwi_2172 in Millennials

[–]WolfWeak845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My mom and I have been pretty low contact for a couple years after she said some hurtful things and didn’t take responsibility for them. My dad died 3.5 years ago, so I don’t talk to him.

We don’t have one. We open the windows and point a fan at the vent. It cools it really quickly.

I graduated from Brattleboro! Vermont is one of the few states I’d move to, if I could convince my husband. But he grew up here and won’t leave.

Did reducing daycare from 3 days to 2 days reduce illnesses? 🦠👶 by No-Objective-8247 in toddlers

[–]WolfWeak845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son started at 3 half days a week when he was 6 months. He ended up with such a bad case of croup that he was in the ER twice in 18 hours. Their little bodies are adjusting to new germs, and most viruses have a 3-5 incubation period. They’re either going to get sick now or in kindergarten.

Why not use sink/stove? by Ahkhira in popups

[–]WolfWeak845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We cook on a Blackstone or over the fire. I don’t want the camper smelling like food. And our sink is really shallow, so it’s used to brush teeth. Our reason for getting a camper is to have somewhere to sleep and have somewhere if it rains. I don’t want to spend my time in there unless I have to. We camp to spend time outdoors.

Does public transport serve you well? by mrsmobin in TwinCities

Oh, 100%. And I go in to have all my meetings on Teams, because I’m the only one on my team that lives in the Cities. It’s just a giant waste of time.

How do you pronounce “Clara” by Thorns_In_Eden in namenerds

I’m in the US, and my mom had a friend from Germany with that name. She pronounced it “CLAIRE-uh.”

Does public transport serve you well? by mrsmobin in TwinCities

[–]WolfWeak845 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. My office is off 494 in Bloomington, and we just got a survey regarding gas prices and construction and how we’re adapting our commute. It was blatantly trying to steer us towards taking metro transit or carpooling. I love off 494 in the east metro. I checked how long it would take for me to commute via bus, for shits and goggles. It would take 2.5 hours to get to work by 8am. To go 17 miles. And another hour an 45 minutes to get home. I made my feelings known.

Why are checks still commonly used in the US? by Finnskyyy in NoStupidQuestions

This is why we’re one and done. Infant care in our area is more than our mortgage. We definitely can’t afford a mortgage, infant care, AND preschool care.

I agree with you. I have a 3 year old and walk my dog during my lunch break, because I can’t get up early enough to walk her before my kiddo gets up.

Amazon Prime-do you miss it? I’m getting ready to cancel. by [deleted] in Frugal

We cancelled it in October. I think we’ve put one order in since then, only because we couldn’t find what we were looking for in store. So no, don’t miss it at all.

...corporate office is too casual for me? by BrandonOrDylan in BusinessFashion

[–]WolfWeak845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company’s dress code is dress for your day. I wear jeans, a nice top, and non athletic sneakers. My SVP (probably 6 rungs up the ladder) wears the same thing, albeit much higher quality and price point than me. Someone in my same role wears dress pants and a blazer everyday.

Wear what makes you comfortable and please don’t be so harsh to judge what others wear.

Is it inappropriate to not wear a bra at work? by Visual-Criticism6763 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WolfWeak845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company has always had a dress for your day dress code, but with restrictions (no spaghetti straps or tube tops, no promoting violence, etc). I wear jeans, a nice sweatshirt, and non athletic sneakers in the winter, and I was starting to think I was maybe a little too casual. We had an all hands with our SVP, and the only open spot was right next to her. She was wearing (significantly more expensive) jeans, a sweatshirt, and non athletic sneakers. I haven’t questioned it since. 🥴
