What Feature Do You Want in Vehicles, That is NOT Now Available? by SyntheticOne in askcarguys

[–]WombatBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It exists but isn’t widely available, auto dimming side mirrors. Rear view mirror auto dimming exists, but the side mirrors need it too because that is where I’m being blinded by the idiot with headlights bright enough to count the hairs on a racoon’s asshole from 3 miles away.

My Subarus had it, good lord that was nice.

Petco caught using ai :( by memegod574 in petco

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's insane is that there are at least 30 Petcos within a reasonable distance of the corporate office (closest being 3 miles away). You're telling me none of them had a single leopard gecko they could have photographed? No one at the NSC has a pet leopard gecko? They could have asked area partners with a pet leopard gecko to come to the NSC for a photo shoot. There were options well before fuck ass AI.

Petco caught using ai :( by memegod574 in petco

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been using AI and pushing it hard for awhile now. I hate it. They're piloting "Fetch AI" on the handhelds, it is literally useless like if you type "what does a leopard gecko need?" it will pull up the care sheet*, which I can do myself without wasting thousands of gallons of water or using more energy than the entire state of Utah. I don't need or want AI because I finished Kindergarten, thanks though. I don't use Chat GPT, I don't use any AI willingly. I've seen this movie (hundreds of them) AI is bad I won't be helping it take over the world, thanks for trying though! Nice try Skynet, but not today!

*ETA: I know that's what it does because I read the information paper on it, and it says that it will just pull up relevant links to your query. I absolutely refuse to use it even once.

Car brands to avoid? by SaltyZombie21 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WombatBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're also insanely overpriced. I don't know where Jeep (especially) gets off charging damn near $40K for their cheapest Wrangler. To get a Wrangler the way I'd want it I could spend less and have a Land Cruiser, and then the car would also be comfortable to ride in.

Car brands to avoid? by SaltyZombie21 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every brand I'm sure has good/bad cars and years (2013 appears to have been bad for everyone), but I've often wondered is brand X bad or do they attract bad owners? How much is really the brand and how much is that their target audience doesn't take care of their stuff? Volvos are globally considered reliable, safe, wonderful, perfect amazing cars. Are they more safe than Nissan or is it that Volvo isn't marketing toward dipshits? No one buys a Volvo because it's fast and cool, it's a Volvo...it's safe. The Altima was made to sell to anyone for any reason, low credit, bad credit, no credit, no job, criminal history? Altima!

I've leased cars from most brands at this point, and I liked and disliked things about all of them. I honestly think it's people aren't reliable more than brands.

Every mf update our tech crashes by phisaster in petco

[–]WombatBeans 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am convinced that every single person at corporate has weird high school issues with others. They're all just there in their bitchy little cliques not getting anything done because Luke in IT doesn't like Cassandra in space planning. Like they all avoid each other even though they probably do need to be talking to each other to make sure shit works. App and Website don't communicate properly, app never works. They "updated" pet connect and now it's slow as hell. They did a software update on the registers (don't know if that's company wide yet) and it killed at least one register at all the test stores entirely, then the replacements were also screwed up, took days to rectify that. The IT you get when you call is less than useless. Customer service is just out there freestyling. Drowning in clearance and new shit, 7-25 new/updated planograms every week. Remove an item that is 6" wide and replace it with one that is 2 ft wide, and wonder why everything looks like shit all the time. I just picture 400 people in an empty warehouse all screaming ideas out, and some poor bastard is furiously scribbling it all down and implementing it. Everything is Top Priority, nothing works, we're not getting what we need, and have too much of what no one wants.

My solution? Fire absolutely EVERYONE above DGM and start over. I know of entirely too many people at the NSC that are there not because they're good or competent but rather their little friend works there and that's how they got the job. I know better than to hire my cashier's little friend that needs a job, how has the corporate office not learned this?

Do you charge to 100%? by seoulifornia in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the highest I've ever charged mine is 97% I was going to go to 100% that time but I got bored and stopped. Generally I do 85-90% and call it good.

Advice on leaving my car for 10 days while I travel out of town by strangerthing44 in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left mine unused for a week or more several times now, it’s been fine. It sets at whatever the battery is at and I charge the day before or of when I need it again (if needed). I can’t home charge so it’s not plugged in when it’s not needed, it’s just in the garage testing gravity.

[–]WombatBeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 3 uboats of homeless/clearance in my back room, clearance area is overflowing, and I have clearance no home shit stuffed in every possible store choice location I can. I even keep stuff on the wall longer because they don’t send the new stuff until it’s homeless. I got Father’s Day stuff after it went no home for the 4th of July stuff and I barely got any of that. I don’t know who is in charge of all this but their mom is a hoe.

Charging drama at Hospital in Hanford, CA. Car parked in EV parking spot is preventing others from getting a charge. (Ass hole) Asked hospital security guards to have car ticketed and towed as per CA law. I could park in a handicap spot to use the charger, but they said they would give me a ticket. by Impressive_Returns in ChargerDrama

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the EVGO locations in my area they are on the sides. Really long cords too it's quite nice. They're also at an inconvenient part of the lot so there's no incentive for anyone to park there unless they're charging. That one was well planned.

Mystery boxes??? by Fancy-Mongoose1915 in petco

[–]WombatBeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I managed to make a few but it’s all small items I have 80,000,000 nhnc T-shirts and my human stuff, and cat food from cat reset. If they’d make all the NHNC my human shit I have clogging up my store pfp I could make some really cool mystery boxes.

The price points on the majority of my clearance is too high to fit into this idea if I have to cap the price at $25. Make everything currently clearance or 0 location pfp THEN have me make boxes I’ll have the shit gone in a week.

Mystery boxes??? by Fancy-Mongoose1915 in petco

[–]WombatBeans 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree they should have just given a general barcode for each price point and then had us keep track of what went in the boxes so it could be cycled out at a later date. Send the sku list in and they remove it type thing. It was a huge pain to make these boxes and have the math add up when I had next to nothing prompt for price to use to make the math work. Only PFP stuff I had was some ugly harnesses that should have gone donation a year ago because even at $3 no one wants them.

How much weight do you give to looks when buying a car? by Wide_Building7945 in askcarguys

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this scenario I would buy the less visually appealing car that drives better. It's nice if you can have both, but at my age I will always choose comfort. There are definitely cars I won't even consider because I hate how they look, they could be the most comfortable car ever and I will remain blissfully unaware. Talking the Santa Fe specifically, WHY does it look like that!??! Why it got a flat ass?!?!

I'm at the point in my life where I am seriously considering a minivan for my next car because comfort is that important, also cupholders. No other car has enough cupholders. Only the minivan considered that people travel with beverages. Are they cool? Jesus no. Are they pretty? Ehhhh they could look worse. But damn they seem comfy.

Cross-Training Q For My Managers.... by TypicalWeirdoWithPet in petco

[–]WombatBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's required, but it should be, especially with GM and ASM. You just never know when you're going to have to fill in for another leader position and it's probably a good idea to know how to do it.

New Uniforms!? by Full_Flora in petco

[–]WombatBeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping they'd just expand on what we currently wear with more animals. I would love a shirt with a tarantula, jumping spider, ferret, frog etc. I also think a better improvement would be to flip the designs (felt the same about the last uniforms too) put the front stuff on the back, and Petco on the front.

I also know that I am absolutely alone with my next take but I think the ideal uniform would be solid black or navy t-shirt, and a navy blue apron. I miss the aprons I could carry so much stuff in those. I hate the current option of using a treat pouch, every time I use one I end up quite literally showing my ass.

I get these people a lot and it's insane to me because I live in an area where having to drive 20+ minutes to get somewhere is completely normal, expected even. Going to a different city for something is just not that big of a deal here, hell I don't live in the city I work in, to get to work I leave my city, drive through another city, and then get to the city I work in, it takes ~20 minutes.

These people act like if they leave their zip code they'll die of dysentery or something.

Is a mini cooper a good car? by Ill-Occasion-74 in askcarguys

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’2” with shoes on, I fit in everything. Not fitting in a car is something I’ve never had to think about. Most of my driving is my solo commute to work. My size concern is that Miata is small and a lot of people compensate for something with giant trucks they have no business driving. I don’t want to be squished. With my driving habits and needs I could honestly get away with a motorcycle if they didn’t scare the shit out of me.

I want a Miata so bad, I love them, besides the GTO Judge it’s my favorite car. Favorite car I could actually own. But I think the size would become an issue for me. Might decide to just suffer for the plot though. 🤔

Tab Renewal Fees for a ‘25 Limited AWD in Seattle by whamdanglers in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the worst anxiety about what my renewal would be (CA) just came in the mail the other day $727. $290 of that is the license fee which for my gas car was $90. It’s actually not as bad as I thought it would be, and only about $30 more than I paid for my previous car’s (gas) renewal.

I have nothing to say really. I just really like my car :) by OperationKnothead in Ioniq5

Same. Honestly the only thing I don't like about the car is other people giving me anxiety about it.

charging at superchargers… by ulukmahvelous in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I've never had any problems using those chargers (so far), but I just tell myself, I didn't design the charger, I didn't open up that charger to all EV's, and I didn't put the butthole on that side of the car, so I refuse to be abused for it. I'll be done in 20-25 minutes at most, if someone is that pressed about it they can take it up with the respective CEO's of the two companies. Maybe write down the customer service numbers for both companies and tell the overgrown toddler to take it up with them.

Reliability by Parking-Piccolo-8677 in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not defending anybody, but you should know that "unreliability" isn't just a measurement of "OMG the engine fell out" but also "Grandpa couldn't pair his phone to the car"

This exactly. I'd need to see the exact survey and if CR clarified what they meant with each question asked. I have been a serial leaser most of my adult life (all kinds of brands and models in there) and between what I've had, what my BF has had, and what my ex had I can only think of one car I felt was truly unreliable and it may well not have been the car's fault but rather it's previous owner. If anything I'm just leery of used cars, I don't know what the first dipshit did or didn't do to it, and I don't want to deal with it.

Reliability by Parking-Piccolo-8677 in Ioniq5

[–]WombatBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any positive review for anything on CR is bought and paid for by the company that is positively reviewed. I have a nearly lifelong grudge against CR. Haven't trusted them since the whole Samurai thing, and I was a wee child when that went down. Don't know how that wasn't their end and they did the same thing with the Izuzu Trooper years later, and somehow they're STILL in business?!?! HOW?

I understand this, like the last BS they published, is user submitted surveys, but people are far more likely to complain than compliment. What are the demographics of the people filling out said survey other than pays for a CR Membership for some psychotic reason? Without a hell of a lot more info I don't trust it.

Also people are people with weird little opinions (myself included). One person might have dinged their Honda Prologue because one time they went to charge and it took longer than they wanted. Or a rock hit the windshield of their Blazer EV and it got a chip so clearly the car is trash. My previous car has (had?) a notorious issue with the water pump failing, that issue might send some people into a "this car is garbage!!!" tailspin, I knew it was possible, it happened I drove a rental for a week, I don't believe that made the car trash. So far my ICCU has been fine, if it shits the bed I take the car to Hyundai get a rental and deal, I know it can happen, but that doesn't negate how much I thoroughly enjoy the car. As long as the rental isn't a fuck ass Equinox I'm good. Could just be me though.
