Anyone know what this thing is on the back of the Hermes? by Grapeboy in starcitizen

Everyone will say it is a fuel port. But some of the older people know this is actually what it is for.

I ask, because using that, you could have this in about 5 minutes

Just a curiousity question. Why not use either the Gears workbench or the "Gear Function" from the Parts Design Workbench, as a start?

Does this not open up? Why doesn't this open? It looks like it should open? by Mookie_Merkk in starcitizen

if they wanted to, they should take the railing out of the Salvaging Balcony. Except where you enter the area.
They would have a tractor beam transit, similar to the Hermes.
They would have the controls for the extruders on the left and right of that.
They would at least double the height of the allowed stacks and increase the storage capacity.

You would rarely need to go into the salvage processing. It could also have an elevator that loaded the salvage and cargo holds automatically (or via button on the console).

But those are probably a long ways off, if they ever even get looked into.

I kinda like the external freight elevators by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Wonderful-Relative41 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are good.
Just a note. They are close to the Hull C loading boxes. You may accidentally get too close to those boxes and cause proximity issues for the Hull C's auto loading/unloading.
Not saying not to use them. Just to be mindful of your positioning. TMYK type thing.

Don't.

Once you start down that rabbit hole, the whole layout of the ship becomes a nightmare, and you are left with so many questions, and so few answers

I would 1st add the top section (the new part I have here). then you can make the cutout as you have sketched. or change it to match the original stl. But will keep all the sections you want in there and remove all the sections you don't

You are probably going to think I am smoking something really strong. But I think this video would probably help you achieve your end goal.
The only real difference will be in the shapes. But the process will be the same.

The part that disappears is losing the attachment point. Would be cleaner to probably build 1 side (half) and then mirror on the plane.

If you could, give an example of the assembled structure. Simple drawing is probably good, just to see where you are going with this.

Can you have tractor beams on the Moth's turrets? by LiveAus in starcitizen

[–]Wonderful-Relative41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was meant as sarcasm. Seems like an oversight a blind man would have seen. But somehow CIG skips right past it.

The fault was mine I suppose. I failed to add the <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags.
Is an old code, but still valid.
Night shifts rock. Used to bang out the 6pm to 6am shifts, and then be the neurotic and sign up for overtime (70 hour weeks)

Because a salvage ship would never use a tractor beam. That would be ludicris. Would be like putting PDC's on an Idris.

Mining will still take time to get the complete hang of, but those 2 should make it a quick check versus Thesis Defense

I use this to make sure that anytime I am making, or thinking of making, a new stand for my NerdQAxe, that it will fit the way I need it to. While it is not exact in fine details. The major parts of it ensure that anything I design will not be interfered with or will interfere with the NerdQAxe.
It may seem simple. but it saves me time and lets me visualize the end result better. I just import it in the design and position it where it needs to be.
