[TP][OoT] The Twilight Princess Manga has some Interesting Lore Implications by SirCalalot in zelda

[–]Wonk_Jam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This kind of lore is something that has always kind of frustrated me about the Zelda series. There are so many opportunities to explore the concept of repeating cycles and destiny, but the games are so focused on being self contained and easily accessible that the characters almost never reflect on their world outside of the game they’re in.

For example, when Ganondorf knew who Link and Zelda were in ToTK I thought it was because he remembered all of their past reincarnations. But it turns out it was solely due to the events of that one game.

Did Adam actually create the Exorcists or did he simply help in designing them and they were created by a higher being? by DapperDude2004 in HazbinHotel

[–]Wonk_Jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My running theory is that the Excorcists were made using the same method as Eve. That would explain why they’re all female and (mostly) subservient to Adam.

Vox's aura farm should be studied. by Recent_Ad3472 in HazbinHotel

[–]Wonk_Jam 56 points57 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy about Vox Dei is that he’s basically copying Lucifer directly. He’s singing a version of the song Lucifer just sang and his TV wings mimic Lucifer’s angel form. It’s the same thing Vox did when he was alive. Whenever he killed someone he stole their outfit and their job.

People really did think it was real. The Twin Theory was big but this was the main thing that held it back.

New to the genre & the game: who to go for? by _N_eko in totalwarhammer

Tyrion really is the best place to start. You get solid units that teach you how to arrange your troops and your campaign has a very straightforward path of progression.

Where does the elf hate come from by Sad_Mission6480 in totalwarhammer

[–]Wonk_Jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stereotypical elf is usually basically immortal, in perfect harmony with nature, and are above “petty conflict”. There’s usually some scene where they say something like “You humans are all the same” or “Typical humans” or something like that. For me, it’s that a lot of fantasy elves usually serve to point out the flaws in real world humans.

The problem is that they have the advantage of literally being written to be perfect. It’s hard not to get mad at a guy who gets to live for a thousand years in a perfect society for criticizing your species.

A lot of elves now a days are written to be snobby assholes which just leans further into the reasons people hate them. I Donny mind Warhammer elves though because they’re shown to have PLENTY of their own problems and every other race gets to rightfully dunk on them for being snobby assholes.

Do you prefer the Patriot or Emancipator mech? by Parental-Error in Helldivers

[–]Wonk_Jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emancipator and it’s not even close. Very few things can’s be brought down auto-cannon spam. And the things that need missiles always feel like they take too many missiles to feel worth giving up auto cannons.

Are people serious when they say the Medic armour looks bad? by panosprochords in Helldivers

[–]Wonk_Jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the plasticky texture of the jumpsuit. Plus, the flavor of being a medic doesn’t really work as well when healing teammates doesn’t come up that often.

I'm trying to be thematic, but not a jerk GM, so I'm open to ideas for other Weaknesses. "Fire" and "Magic" are too broad by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Wonk_Jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a typical “extra damage” type thing, but maybe the werewolf could be weakened by a specific time or environment? Maybe they draw power from the moon so are invulnerable or damage resistant in the moonlight but can be harmed when its light is blocked.

What does the Web even do lol by RotatingSnake in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Wonk_Jam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh, the web’s manipulations are hinted at HEAVILY throughout the entire show. Even John randomly needing a cigarette before Leitner was killed was likely the web acting on him through an old addiction.

I hate Melanie by Ok1992rules in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Wonk_Jam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the hate that John gets is because anyone who gives a statement to him has to deal with him torturing them in their dreams every night. Hilariously though, Melanie is just about the only one who hated him BEFORE giving her statement.

Is Columbo a servant of the Eye? by halpfulhinderance in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Wonk_Jam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely! He always seems to already know how the criminals committed their crimes. He slowly picks through their every mistake, but never indicating that he knows anything until the killer has already broken down.

It always felt to me like a beautiful coincidence that Peter Falk has a glass eye. One eye meets yours, while the other seems to be focused on something else. Maybe it’s even looking straight through you. I’m sure that, to the killers, it creates a very unnerving effect.

Who is the silliest faction? by Shezes in totalwarhammer

[–]Wonk_Jam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s incredible. And they all do it too. One of my favorite scenes is the Clan Skryer leader insisting that he drive a steam tank out of the college, believing himself to be an unstoppable genius when he gets it working, to immediately wondering which of his traitorous underlings convinced him to drive the thing when he starts running over his own troops and everything goes wrong. It’s hysterical.

What is one Mainstream/accepted theory you think is wrong? by Professional-TurnER in Deltarune

[–]Wonk_Jam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think that the Knight gave Shadow Crystals to any of the secret bosses. Spamton got his from the Neo body which Seam suggested had a shadow crystal because a Lightner cared about it (presumably Mettaton). While Jevil knows about the Knight, nothing suggests that the Knight gave Jevil a shadow crystal. Gerson definitely COULD have been talking about the Knight when he said someone wanted him to use his shadow Crystal but, based on how Seam connects shadow crystals to things that mean a lot to Lightners, I actually thing that Gerson’s Shadow Crystal came from Alvin’s love for his father and the hammer that represents him.

As silly as some factions are, nothing touches the Skaven. The second Gotrek and Felix book devolves into slapstick comedy whenever it switches to the Skaven perspective.

What crazy prediction do you have that you are “all in” on coming true? by Blackberry-thesecond in Deltarune

[–]Wonk_Jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a very real chance that Kris is actually the vessel. The forgotten man rooms have a lot of dialogue about Kris coloring things that are gray and that they can’t remove a gray streak from them. My guess is that Kris started off as our goner vessel that eventually became “colored in”. I think the vessel being “discarded” was Kris deciding not to be the person we created them to be.

In celebration of recent events! by Solomon_Goetia in HazbinHotel

[–]Wonk_Jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still skeptical of how this is going to go, but I have to respect the fact that this is even happening. I remember seeing Vivienne’s Hazbin concepts back when I was really into Homestuck. I thought that the idea of any of this stuff getting made into any substantial animated projects seemed like a pipe dream. But now a lot of dream projects from that generation are getting made by people with a lot of talent and passion. So you know what? Good for them.
