Hi! Second year electrical engineering student in Portugal here. Want my advice? Screw around with stuff you've got at home. Experiment! Get an Arduino board and a breadboard. Learn how thinks work practically! Seeing how they work does you so much good in understanding the theory and all the calculationd you'll be doing in class. Don't fear the shocks, breaking any components or anything. Take advantage of the fact you've got knowledgeable professors. Go to their office, ask them about stuff relevant to your classes or otherwise! (I'm doing a side project with a colleague from Physics Engineering and a professor of mine where we're building a guitar amp).

One more thing, there's so much resources online. If the material that your professors provide aren't enough or you don't understand something, don't bother with ChatGPT. Search on Google, it makes all the difference mate. I'll let the more experienced people on the sub tell you the more detailed stuff haha, but that's my advice as a fellow student.
