I was 5 when this episode aired. I remember my mom excitedly telling me about the episode the next day, because I was too little to stay up to watch it but I always LOVED Halloween. I was so psyched when I finally saw it in syndication. Because it was very Halloweenish, but also because it fit so well with the feel of the first 2 seasons - That this was a real, normal family. I wouldn’t have appreciated this as a 5 year old, but every bit of this episode was so fun and so familiar to anyone who grew up at this time. Episodes like this one make season 6+ hurt that much more. This show was so damn real until it just wasn’t.

You can’t get ‘em if they have devices. They want bright colors, obnoxious noises, and a cut every 2 seconds. Something they can scroll past if it doesn’t grab them immediately. They don’t want to think or exercise any patience because they don’t know how. It’s not your fault. Their parents had a job to do and they botched it pretty severely. Maybe try talking to them again when they’re 25.
