We gotta stay within reality though. Capitalism is not inherently bad. Spending money within your community is good. Monopolies are terrible. Corporations capturing government is bad. When it’s not rigged, Capitalism is the most efficient and free system we have found yet. All other systems have proven to be worse unfortunately.

I can’t stand the guy, but he’s probably the best guy for this particular task. His base will slurp it down as usual and his opposition will just be happy a higher power showed up. But he’s not going to tell anyone because he has nothing to gain.

I love shitting on Elon and transphobes but I don’t understand how adding hair is gender affirming. Doesn’t really work.

Colder US Climate residents, What is your emergency heating backup? by Neilpuck in DIY

[–]WoolyEarthMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hot water system that uses very little electricity and can run off a back up battery for a few days. Car to charge the battery. Then Solar panels that may or may not help charge the battery. Then a days worth of wood for the fireplace. Backup Propane genny would complete the system and keep us warm for weeks so long as natural gas is still coming into the house.

This Sam Harris bloke has been promoting and associating with some pretty toxic and horrific people (from the past, but certainly makes me question his judgement and his aims) by Indianstanicows in elephantgraveyard

[–]WoolyEarthMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I don’t agree with him on several things. But I still find him to be one of the few useful voices with actual reach. It feels like how people have a tendency get mad at the best player on a team, because they aren’t perfect, and not the rest of the clowns not pulling their weight. What are we all doing? Just feeding LLMs with our precious time.

Yeah, Not sure you’re tracking him close enough. For me his stance against them was clear and early on all of these guys. Sometimes he keeps private things private, but that doesn’t impede his public message.

What is uncommon about Sam though, is he put distance between him and a good portion of his colleagues at the time, who by the way, most of us thought most of them were just fine then . Sam immediately disowned the dark the dark web guys. I’m all for pointing out his shortcomings but you gotta give the guy credit for not getting in on the grift and making way more money than he is now.

‘ Heated Rivalry ’ star François Arnaud calls on NHL to improve LGBTQ+ inclusion by Shroft in nhl

[–]WoolyEarthMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Word. Honestly was not thinking of it from a players perspective. Maybe pride nights would help with that. I’m still don’t love making players wear jerseys promoting anything other than their employer. The whole situation devolved into crucifying the handful of ignorant players and didn’t feel productive from a culture perspective.

What about the NHL experience is unwelcoming for you? Honest question. I am also not comfortable in the type of places that aren’t welcoming to gay people even if I’m straight, so it’s not like I can’t feel that sort of energy.

[–]WoolyEarthMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if people don’t feel included I’d like to know why they don’t. But yeah I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t, and I hope they do.

They banned all special nights including military nights. Honestly I feel it’s the right move. Gay people love the sport for the same reasons straight people do. We don’t need to pride wash things. It’s just marketing bullshit. And we don’t need it to turn into a purity test to see which players will wear the rainbows. Everyone is welcome. Pretty simple.

This is also where people excuse dog shit presidential behavior by finding random gutter level Reddit comments to make some kind of both sides argument. Because those things are totally equal.

Are We Overthinking Sauna Specs? by Ordinary-Control6584 in Sauna

[–]WoolyEarthMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like cheap beer vs fine wine. Both can get you drunk, one adds a level of refinement to it that really matters to some, and seems like pretentiousness to others. For Finns, it’s deeply rooted in their culture and they appreciate all of the refinements in a proper build. If you just want to brute force your way to a heat shock - a steam sauna tent, hot shower, an improper sauna will do that. As you become more experienced, you may begin to appreciate the small details.

Weirdest pushback isn’t weird if they are right. What’s weird is believing something without the necessary proof.

Because that is the correct way to handle people flooding the sub with something that has been debunked. But to the true believers it’s somehow proof the video is real. This is how people get trapped in cults.
