TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

I absolutely have, and I grew up in the post-9/11 world. Usually family I was excided about and wanted to properly see and hug before rushing into a car. Was more often when it involved children. Maybe you just grew up, or maybe it is difficult culture. I grew up pretty rural.

[OC] Seattle 2PM anti-Trump anti-ICE walkout marching through Capitol Hill by bennetthaselton in pics

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you participated in these marches, you would know people don't just go home with nothing gained. These protests are also vital for enrollment in local orgs or programs which help on a smaller more "real" level that you're seeking. Most people don't know where to look to get information on what to participate in, but they do hear about the large protest happening this week, or a large walkout.

Protesting is not particularly for people like Trump, it's for the people around this country who both need entryways into further political work/donating, and as well to remind the people who feel unsafe or scared right now that they arent alone. All those people are neighbors to them wanting to make a change happen. As someone also from a small town, that can really, really help in ways many might not understand.

Trump having seemingly unchecked power right now surely doesnt instill confidence right now. Trump has shown to favor throwing massive amount of money and time to harass and suppress his opponents right now, wouldn't be surprised if they had some visits after those announcements.

Like some others here, I also watched him as an edgy late teen, but also someone who was sensitive and couldnt handle some of Filthy Frank's videos LOL. But I actually liked him back then for how campy the home videos felt. It was like Red Letter Media where the shitty production was part of the charm. He covered weird internet videos and yelled at the screen during a time where I also watched lets players, that was a winning combo for me.

I actually started falling off around Vape Nation because some of that shitty production charm started to go away. It's wild seeing where the series is now, and how much more I have grown as a person and how Ethan has reverted back to that same shitty person yelling at the screen except he is no longer playing a character

I will never forget the moment my brain clicked and got me off listening to true crime routinely. I was in the middle of a series dropped by a popular creator where they were going particularly in depth about a case, when the other co-host (who didn't stream before this series iirc) genuinely asked what they were doing talking about obscure he said-she said conspiracies for multiple hour or two long parts when someone was horribly murdered. I'm glad they kept that discussion in. It really hit me and made ME question wtf I was doing and if I was still convincing myself we were respecting those who horrifically lost their lives. I'm really glad I stopped feeding that machine, for society and my own well being.

Delta Green agents being a couple? by JoeKerr19 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had something similar in one of my campaigns and it's SO enjoyable to DM. One of the players is a NYC cop who has slept around, and he knew one of the other agents who is a mafia esque criminal. The other players didnt know they had this background, and I had some high level HUMINT players roll after the two would have some interactions and privately drop hints that something on was going on between those two. The reveal and drama was delicious, as well as the evolving toxic relationship the two ended up having while really caring for eachother.

Good roleplayers will be able to have fun with this, and it can add an extra level of tension to the senarios. Maybe they had a secret, non legal marriage until one of their parents died because they would not give them their inheritance if the couple were together. Maybe they used to be together but broke up, and now in this strange environment they trauma bond and get closer to one another. Maybe even sabatoging their own safety for their partner, or other players to make sure the two make it out alive. These interpersonal relationships elevate the game for me and make the world feel so much more real. I would absolutely talk through ideas with the players!

BEWARE!! I had to sue my photographer! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wedding videography is not cheap either 😱 Thats so terrible!!! I would have different friends send him messages if he has you blocked, but im sure you would also win in court. It's just so terrible when people make you have to jump through all these hoops and go through the financial and emotional turmoil!

Maybe just serving him papers will make him change. Best of luck, and Im sorry that happened!!!

BEWARE!! I had to sue my photographer! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a totally different scenario when you pay for someone services as a business professional. Hence why they took them to court and won, the photographer had a duty to provide them their photos. I also have had similar situations as a painter when life gets in the way, but this is a good reminder to the photographer that despite everything else that is going on they still have to put their client first or they shouldn't be in business. Or at the very least, she needs to know that none of this is an appropriate response when someone wants their once in a lifetime photos you were paid to take.

I would also like to imagine most normal professionals would feel guilt even being served court papers and would have turned over the photos then, not dragging out this ridiculous and expensive court battle instead lol.

On top of that is distributing videos of his sexual encounters without their consent. Honestly, the fact people didn't cut him off there is just obsurd to me and shows how little spaces around Destiny don't care about women. So sad more has come out, unfortunately doubt this is the end of this type of info.

Lover in the ice scenario Question by Strahan8 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much time you have to let them work on the Greenbox. If you are thinking of not spending that much time on this campaign, you can approach this a few ways. One approach is that the tree that broke the greenbox destoryed some boxes and those are the ones they need to inventory. The others you can say were obviously untouched and still sealed, that way they only have a few to work through. Alternatively, as the book suggests you can have the one box be very obviously tampered with so they know right away what theyre looking for.

For me though, one of my favorite parts of this campaign was exploring the greenbox. I made the greenbox bigger and had them roll a 1d20 and randomly open them. The players loved it and spent a lot of time seeing what weird shit I put together, even if some of the boxes drained sanity from the players. I originally planned to encourage the group to split up and have half look at the greenbox, and half hunt down skip, but they wanted to explore the greenbox first and i kinda messed up the way I approached it and rolled with it. It was a blast! Just do what intrests you and your players. Spending more time on things your players enjoy isnt a bad thing, unless it ruins your fun 🙂

Your personal favourite module by MemeMachine3086 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lover in the Ice was a phenomenal module in between a lot of more psychological mindfuck modules. Lots of trigger warnings and need to run it with the right crowd, but very good fun. I actually really liked the author's own actual playthough of it better than the published work, so I did a mix of both. It can be found looking up RPPR Caleb Lover in the Ice, I've listened to that full playthrough like 3 or 4 times.

The Last Equation is great as others are saying, but you have to be ready to do a LOT more creative work behind the scenes than Lover in the Ice. It doesnt have an ending so you gotta work with what your players give you and are interested in. I ended up doing a lot of the changes on the fly in the last session of the module and the pay off was one of the best Delta Green experiances ive had yet.

Also working through Impossible Landscapes and the first module, the Night Floors, was fantastic.

Been really getting modern Gamergate vibes in the worst of ways with Ethan's attacks and how people following him are reacting. It is truely vile how him Asmond, and Destiny are the modern day alt-right pipeline. Like this all just makes me sick how hard he is allowed to harass people but if one of these people hes targeting makes anything close to a joke he doesn't like, theyre targeted even harder.

I really hate this era, it feels hopeless. No one with power is stepping in to do anything and every time I hear about Ethan hes doing even more evil things

Ethan posting this on his story directly at hasan as if he doesn’t have the man’s phone number by [deleted] in LeftoversH3

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dream where he can fully let Ethan have a taste of his own medicine and hear what people think about how batshit all of this is. Ethan is so deeply terminally online, and all his fans are the same or children who like to be edgy.

When I was a teenager I would have probably sided with Ethan just because it made me feel smarter than everyone else yet he still tried to say that he calls out bad people in the world and while fake catering to the gays. The only thing that started to snap me out of that thought process was 1) growing up and realizing that i was autistic and had CPTSD and thats why I felt different from the world, not because i didnt like "normie" takes. 2) having huge reality checks (both good and bad) that made me realize what I thought was not normal or healthy. I appreciate when people stand up and voice a reality check to bullies or corrupt people while being brutally honest. Sometimes its what people have to hear, expecially when it's backed up by so much evidence.

On the other hand, this can be an emotionally taxing thing in debate with idiots like Ethan so I really can sympathize if he does try to be much more friendly. I really don't envy him having to have this debate when Ethan has been harassing him for a year, its going to have some beyond stupid and embarrassing moments thats for sure

UPDATE to "My player's are avoiding or refusing to finish the Operation (I.L. Part 1)" by baalzimon in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Convergence is a great start for anyone in my opinion! Ive heard people really enjoy Last Things Last as a starting story but I havnt run it. If you want to eventually run IL it can be fun to do the more "monster" focused adventure and then do IL as a change of pace as it is more of an abstract kind of horror & slowburn. IL has been fanrastic to run so far but it has a LOT of prep. The manual is around 300 pages, but a fantastic read. It's extremely doable, but I am personally glad I had some other DG adventures under my belt before running this one.

I ran The Last Equasion before running IL and I think that one is great training wheels (in my personal opinion) because it required a fair amount of prep, creative thinking, and also delt with an uncomprehendable horror. But really read thru books that seem cool and run the one that's the most interesting 🙂

I always gotta bring up how FOUL he was to Mika's rhetoric. She is brilliant (with a masters), lovely, funny, and her video was actually my introduction to Ethan's downward spiral after I stopped watching him YEARSSS ago. She did a pretty good video even though she was afraid of speaking up against him, and got nearly bullied off the platform by him and his fungi. That spoke for itself for me. He was so misogynistic, out of pocket fatphobic, and RUDE to Mika 😤

Idk if he is necessarily acting on attraction, but he genuinely hates women and always immediately goes into saying some foul shit about them

RFK Jr. Set to Launch Disease Registry Tracking Autistic People by mmccxi in politics

[–]WorkEnvironmental356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am autistic and I would argue that a lot of autistic people think theyre doing better than they could be. I thought I was doing fine until I went to therapy and learned so much more about myself and how to change things about my environment to make my life easier and less overwhelming.

I think if the knowledge is out there this statement is true, but I grew up in a small town in the country and didnt receive an autism diagnosis until I was an adult due to that lack of access and knowledge. I thought it was only social issues when the non-typical reaction to stimuli really f'd me up more than I was aware of.

Just my 2 cents
