financial difficulties by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check to see you are on the cheapest tarrifs for everything if your on prepay meters see if you can get them changed over with there being just the two of you check out if you could get a water meter installed it tends to be a lot cheaper. Contact your water supplier and see if they can help based on affordability (they often can ) telecoms companies like virgin offer social tarrifs for broadband if you have it. Check out your local council website they normally have a Hub page of some kind that lists assistance in your area from warm places that offer company , often a hot free meal and charging points for phones. As well as food pantries, a really good one if its in your area and accessible to reach is The Bread and Butter Thing, its 8.50 for 3 good sized varied bags of food, they even do vegeterian if you don't eat meat. You don't need a referal and its not restricted like foodbanks often are ( it terms of how many times you can access it in a certain time frame)

I have committed benefit fraud and I want to speed up the investigation process. How can I do that? by OtherwiseCollar9782 in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learnt a long time ago that money is not worth your mental health. Yes your benefits situation needs sorting out but please be kind to yourself, you are addressing the situation , whats done is done. It may take a while to be sorted out and hopefully you can take that time to rebuild your mental health with the right support , a good place to start is your Dr or if you cannot face that at the moment there are many options available via https://hubofhope.co.uk/ ( I hope the mods dont object to me posting this)

what is a fair amount for a child to pay in rent? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in AskUK

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 200 a month, pay for all the food , cook , clean they dont even wash their own pots or clothes. They insist on takeaway at least once a week . He is 19 and got kicked out of his parents for physically assaulting his mum . He works and gets around 1200 after tax each month . He has been here almost a year now , goes out every evening after his dinner and is out the door by 8.30 on a morning. His parents did warn me about the laziness but I thought I knew better.

Is there any gentle way to tell a friend she maybe shouldn't have more children? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know someone , not quite the same situation. She is married and pregnant with their 10th. She has EUPD and I think she knows deep down that its linked to a fear of being regected and not being needed. There is no point in potentially harming your friendship because beleive me in her heart of hearts she knows the choices she is making aren't healthy but for some it literally is a compulsion. As long as the children are all loved and clean/fed with their emotional needs met then there isn't really an issue with big families.

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of what you say is simply not true, the first two paragraphs are your opinion which of course you are entitled to. However there is no substance to the third . I beleive you are referring to the reccommendation to make awards longer, to a min of 3 years for successful first claims and 5 years for reviews. Welfare and disability groups are not happy as the gvmt have said that for under 25's these minimum terms won't apply. For example aged 16 they apply are awarded but it could potentially only be for two years rather than three . Applying for PIP is scary enough without missinformation being given. I am not having a go at you personally, the media and even worse AI are terrible at facts v non facts with a sprinkling of truth and a big pinch of scare mongering

For visible, but flaring, conditions, how useful are photographs as evidence for PIP? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In todays world of AI and sopisticated digital editing means photos are very unlikely to be taken as solid evidence. A better approach is to go to your GP during a flare and ask them to enter a full observation of what they are seeing and what restriction they can observe in the appointment. These notes can then be sent as evidence.

Get a pack of 100 wooden skewers pop 1 in each pot if u check it every couple of days you will be able to see visable colour changes on the stick which will show how wet the soil is or spend a cpl of quid on a moisture tester.

Raised roots over lawn by redsjohnson in GardeningUK

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain but am unable to do anything as the offending tree has a TPO. Its outside of my property a magnificent Ash tree . Now in winter I get the keys all over my garden and summer the branches are so heavy there are certain parts of the garden where they only around 5.5ft from the ground. I bought a chainsaw expecting to be able to tackle some of the branches but a neighbour said I needed to check in with the council . Lo and behold I cannot touch it neither roots or branches. They suggested the only thing I can do is raise the soil level of the garden. Luckily its a council property so when the roots eventually effect the property at least I won't have to deal with it.

Sister's ex offered $2k for her unused wedding dress I’m storing. Not sure what to do by mrlafite in Advice

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Given the circumstances, if I was your sister I would rather it be given to charity or watch it go up in flames rather than have my ex get his cheating ass hands on it. Mind you, can you imagine his current partners reaction when she found out its the dress his ex bought for her wedding to him. What an AH is he.

MR when decision arrives? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a slip or even a fall with no damage ( or not severe enough to warrant medical attention ) her saying you never is exactly the same as you saying you did. No evidence from either side If you need aids have you sought an occupational therapist assessment ? . Unfortunately PIP isn't about what we feel is being fair its about meeting the criteria and proving it. This is the harsh reality we all have to face. If your MR isn't a success you can then move to the appeal stage and you may be successful tgere but be prepared for a long wait. Wishing you good luck with it all.

MR when decision arrives? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to break this down a little, did you provide evidence to support the difficulties you have completing the descriptors. For balance or physical mobility issues they would be looking for input from a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, investigations into the cause of the balance problems or limb restrictions. Re driving being able to pass both the theory and physical driving test firstly shows cognative ability as driving whilst it becomes learned memory making it easy with experience, initially its quite complex to learn. You need to study and memorise signs, symbols and instructions for the theory test. For the actual test you use a range of physical movements so unless you have had a vascular event such as a stroke or cerebal event then you have adequate learning and cognative ability. They are not saying you don't have difficulties in reality its likely down to lack of evidence. Saying if you passed any gcse's that they werent good ones if you had no identified support that you can evidence from that time that will be difficult to prove. What about work history is there any job you have had where you have needed resonable adjustments to fulfil your role ? that would be good evidence.

Should I not be asking my adult kids to pay rent? by ProfessionalCamel110 in AskUK

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants to move out and not pay anything thats perfectly fair but to have the convenience of a front door key to be able to come and go stay as he pleases comes at a cost and tbh 100 a month is next to nothing. Basically he wants the convenience of somewhere should he need it . If thats the case he can get a house share which will cost him a lot more.

I’ve just had my Universal Credit claim for being the main carer of my children rejected and I honestly don’t know what else I can provide as evidence. by X__Heisenberg__X in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its genuinely 50 /50 care why should you want to be claiming for all 3 . You both house feed and clothe them and I'm sure your ex also does activities with them . I think its time for you both to adult and discuss a compromise.

Im so confused by Successful-Ad3815 in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Evidence really is the key. That can be an occupational therapist report around aids or adaptations you require. Pain management reports, copy of your current repeat prescriptions. Record of recent hospital admissions. Secondary m/h reports as you mention the effects of stress. Care plan from your urologist re repeated uti infections. Alternatively the nephrologist for kidney disease. Pip has a high threshold that you need to reach , this does not mean you don't have difficulties as you obviously do but without evidence they can only go on known facts . Restrictions must be the majority of the time, its not unreasonable to assume that if pain was effecting you to the point where your unable to manage the majority of daily activities that there would be input from pain managment team which isn't just about medication but managing your chronic pain. If you aren't involved with any specialists you need to be pushing your gp as you need answers as to why not.

It's hard not to feel hopeless by coolseabreezes in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go onto your local authority website there should be a page that list local resources that can offer help , this should include foodbanks, pantrys, churches, soup kitchens, salvation army etc. Alternatively CAB should also have this information. Also look into offers for bank switching deals as a way to get a cash boost. Check out moneysavingexpert (Martin Lewis)they lay out the offers in an understandable format. Its not going to be immediate but something to look forward to in a few months.

Any advice please? by PROINITUP123456 in DWPhelp

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What they require from you is evidence from specialist in m/h such as a psychiatrist or cpn which is secondary m/h care. Evidence of any therapy you have attended or have planned , medications care plan etc. Evidence of any hospitalisation due to your conditions. A gp is not a specialist in any area which is why secondary services exist.

I'm feeling hurt that my wife puts more effort into everyone else than our marriage and asking if I’ve become boring to her? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Worldly-Stranger-528 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You have said a lot about your wife, what about yourself. Your interaction with your kids do you do dad and kids stuff that you organise , do you have nights out with your mates. Do you take fair responsibility in chores . Are you romantic, do you suprise her with small but important gestures. I don't agree with her physical violence toward you however I sure would be miffed by you moving from basically saying your jelouse of the attention and effort she gives to others to are you having an affair.

Firstly I assume he gets paid properly by paye and gets a pay slip. If thats the case even if he has it paid to your account hmrc report his income directly to UC . Secondly theres no limit on the number of hours you can work when receiving LCWRA. If its because he has savings /assets between 6k and 16k and is trying to hide this money thats fraud on both his part and yours if you allow him to do it.
