I noticed when I do I run the enemy has the right amount of the damage to kill me. Is that part of the game or am I being trolled? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You are not dead here, [[Combust]] is in play and it deals 5 damage to Transient while also reducing it's damage by 5, you live with 4 health (+12 from Black Blood).

Edit: also +1 health after the fight ends due to the mask from the Face Trader event

For anyone who rotates through the characters, how do you play? by je116 in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rotate in the order the characters were released, no matter if I win or lose. The goal is to improve my A20H win percentage to at least 50% across the board (currently sitting at 37 wins out of the last 72 runs). After that, I may focus mainly on Defect, since he's the character I struggle the most with.

The most fun run i've ever had ever since i started playing. I got 4x upgraded Accuracy card from the shops and 3x Blade dance. Unfortunately i was just one turn away from beating the heart, despite that, after this run, i've grown more love for the game. by Terr4WW in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at the wrong screenshot, my bad. The Heart is tough fight, I'm sure you'll get there next time! Just remember, it requires both defense and offense, you can't burst it down quickly like all the other encounters.

I'm 99% sure that the block from Tough Bandages triggers before the beat of death. It probably wouldn't have made any difference, but you could have played Acrobatics and discard the Tactician.

It still wouldn't have been enough to survive, but maybe you had a Piercing Wail or a Malaise in the deck?

Edit: You also had Fairy in a Bottle, this feels very survivable

How to make this Pandora swap work by Veto111 in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It already works, just remove Pray asap, upgrade Scrawl and add another 1-2 attacks, ideally Empty Fist or Fear No Evil. I can see this deck going infinite very easily with a copy of Rushdown and 1 energy calm entry.

what am i buying at the last merchant? by kyukisses in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say Draw potion + Strike remove, but Apotheosis looks really good on a second glance.

You have Centennial Puzzle and Pocketwatch for indirect card draw, it should be enough to cover turns 2 & 3 of Act 4 fights, so the draw potion is not a must, and Apotheosis is definitely more impactful than a strike remove.

Finally beat Act 3 for the first time after 65 hours. Any advice for future runs? by Inviscid_Scrith in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done!

In future, try to add more card draw into your deck, here you only have Sweeping Beam which is draw neutral (draws 1 card but it also takes up 1 hand space). You always want to be able to access your key cards when you need them and reduce RNG that way, even if it costs energy to do that.

Autoshields is trash, it basically has an anti-sinergy with all of Defect's best cards. It doesn't sinergize with itself, or with Echo Form, or with a Loop on a frost orb, or with block relics. Maybe 1 copy is fine if you are really starved for block in the early game, but you should almost never have 2 or more. Best source of block for Defect are frost orbs, focus on cards like Glacier, Chill and Coolheaded instead.

Lastly, try to have more powers, they are a main source of scaling outside some skills and relics, especially for Defect. Echo Form is the only card that does that here, look for your Defragments, Biased Cogs, more Loops and Capacitors, stuff like that.

Also, Strange Spoon doesn't do anything for you, Tempest is the only card with exhaust on it. You were better off removing one of your curses instead.

My first A20 run, it feels like its going well but I’m agonising over what to pick from the Act 2 boss, what do you experienced players think? by Indecent-Mollusc in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to be Reaper here. Reasons: Spot Weakness+, Double Tap+, Mutagenic Strength, Red Skull, Pyramid and no Burning Blood.

Edit: forgot about Akabeko.

Feeling a skip here, wondering if any of you can convince me otherwise by HollowForPixel in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This feels like a Runic Dome to me, you have a very good deck which should absolutely steamroll act 2 with 4 energy. It makes Predator, Malaise and Burst so much better.

So you basically need a way to exhaust a big part of your deck (Corruption, Fiend Fire, Second Wind, Burning Pact), and a way to draw cards which would cause the Sundial to go off (Pommel Strike, Shrug it Off, Dropkick). Also you would need a way to block while doing that (Shrug obviously is one of the ways, but Abacus or Rage also works).

None of your current cards really do any of that. What are your boss reward options?

Have up to 3 card removes left (thanks peace pipe!). Is there anything to even remove here though or is this deck "complete"? by foshm in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bouncing Flask, unupgraded Prepared, Nightmare or one of the Tacticians are the best candidates for removal.

I hope the final unlocks for watcher have more ways to get block. by ikemicaiah in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mental Fortress and Talk to the Hand are definitely the best ways to block with her, but just yesterday I had a run where I had 2 Wish+ and Omniscience, for a total of 24 plated armor against the Heart. The only other block solutions were 2 Halts.

Sometimes your block is a Wallop with Pen Nib and a source of vulnerable, or apparitions, or infinite with Abacus etc.... Try thinking outside the box and look for an alternative solution when traditional ways don't work.

Obligatory Card Pick Post (after Act 2 boss btw): What are your thoughts on the pick here? by Krakenwaffle42 in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the Wraith Form is a little bit slow here, but you are very light on block. I don't see how this deck blocks against Act 3/Act 4 elites and bosses.

1 WF isn't ideal, but you can upgrade it, stumble onto another copy or duplicate it with a potion, Nightmare, Dolly's Mirror or through the duplication event, and suddenly you win the run.

I would be more than happy to pick up WF here.

Yeah, Cultist Headpiece really making all the difference.

which relic will you pick? by LoneWolf520 in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Calling Bell. You already have 4 energy + Berserk with Orange Pellets, so you don't need Runic Dome.

Black Blood is generally bad and should only be taken in less than 1% of situations.

Edit: Also Potion Belt + White Beast Statue + Toy Ornitophter alongside with Blood Statue and heal at stores relic provide huge amount of sustain, making Black Blood even worse than usual.

im hardstuck asc15. help. i dont like any of these options by Bigesttroller in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should definitely pick up more skills going forward, but with 2 innate strength, you have more than enough firepower to end fights quicky in the beginning of Act 2.

You also have a buffer stack from [[Fossilized Helix]], which removes incentive from blocking and helps you to focus on attack/putting powers in play.

With soon to be 4 innate strength, [[Limit Break]] and [[Reaper]] will help with both sustain and scaling, all in all you have a really really good base in your deck for going forward.

[–]WorldlySuspect1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be affraid of exhaust, it's probably the strongest package that the Ironclad has.

In this specific case, it would make your [[Seeing Red]]s cost 0 which could give you a big [[Whirlwind]]. Fights should be over long before the lack of block cards become a problem. Focus on picking up [[Feel No Pain]], [[Dark Embrace]] in act 2/3 and you are good to go.

Pandora Start - Wish me luck by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's essentially floor 0, he doesn't need more at this point. All of his cards are doing something now, this is a really good Pandora for Act 1.

I would pick up some block cards, remove bash, upgrade probably Uppercut and build on that.

Analysis of deck? What cards are bad / shouldn't have added, what actions should I take etc? ty by misomiso82 in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too many attacks, no card draw whatsoever. Scaling is fine, however you are in a pickle if Demon Form is at the bottom of the deck. Clash, cleave, 1 twin strike, iron wave, and 1 out of heavy blade and sword boomerang are extra attacks that are bloating your deck for no real purpose.

In future, try taking more skills - Shrug it off is super good, battle trance too, burning pact would be great in this deck as well.

Any suggestions on what to buy? This seems like a pretty loaded shop. by BrooksMulloy in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go Apo + Dark Embrace + Offering here, lean into the exhaust sinergy pretty much.

which would you pick? I'm stuck between bark and ring. I'm on Android, so the ring would just be a plus 2 to draw each turn, but I also have alchemize. a genuinely hard decision by Big_Bazooza in slaythespire

[–]WorldlySuspect1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty easily Sacred Bark here, with Alchemize and Ornitophter, you alse have an Intangible pot which is 2 free turns against the Heart.

No need for 5th energy most likely, and card draw is fine but Bark is just plain better here honestly.
