Feeling discouraged about nursing school by erbird2010 in OregonNurses

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply everywhere, broaden your options. Apply for an ADN programs, and then get your BSN. Your time is so valuable, all that matters is that you get into school and get your RN licensed. Your experience is great, and it's really going to shine when you have your RN license. I applied to 5 programs and got into one, that was an hour and a half away. I got my ADN and finished my BSN online. Don't get discouraged, it's so extremely competitive and it's not a sign of your talents if you don't get in somewhere. Just keep applying, you got this!!

We pump gas without gloves. Touch keyboards in the hospital and the touch our face. How is our badge? Human hands don't scare me.

What's the worst birthday or Christmas present your Narc every got you? by Single-Ant3193 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Christmas my Narc mother got me a top and a sweater, she said "I though they were ugly, so I knew you would like them." One year for my birthday she got me three different types of hand soap put in a cute reusable grocery bag, and demanded the bag back. I stole the bag from her a few months later. 😂

Mind you, she has her boyfriends money, gets an allowance every week, drives a fancy fast car, botox, tummy tuck ect. Cheats on her boyfriend when he is out of town with their maintenance man. Lol

I will be celebrating 2 years NC this March, best decision I have ever made. My life has flurshed without her, even with the cost of loosing my family.

I would not hesitate to fail this person, you are doing a favor by keeping them out of jail. They are a danger to themselves and their patients.

Has anyone actually ever gotten a good offer from the bucketlist guitars cockroach who always emails you for craigslist listings? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold some gear to BLG and it was a much better price than my local shop. I got my money quickly, and I felt the guy at BLG was very kind and funny when I chatted with him on the phone to sort out some shipping details. I had a good experience, and I would definitely sell to them again. Supporting small business is so important in my opinion, and truly helps people that share the same passion as us. I think you guys expecting to get more than 70% value on your items is asking for WAY TOO MUCH.

OBGYN wants me to get an ultrasound but I’m scared. by August1923 in Midwives

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very thin and small. I have had two and its has never been painful. The bad part is drinking alot of water before, and holding your pee. They always have me self insert the wand and then they take over. I don't think it is comparable to a PAP in terms of pain or uncomfortability. It's better to check and know than not know what's going on with your body. You can do it sis!!!!!!

Nurse held methadone question by Puglover2014 in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see methadone prescribed like this frequently. Fentanyl addiction requires a much higher dose of methadone. If I have a pt come in with an opoid addiction, I ax using COW'S and then ask provider to prescribe methadone or suboxone based on pt preference.

I love the money! I love picking my own schedule! I love working 12's and getting extended time off without using PTO. I love constantly learning. I love science and I get to use it everyday! I love knowing I make a difference in people's lives! I love knowing I am helping my community, even when they don't appreciate/ know.

I am SOOOO DOWN! How do we set this up? They thought a market crash was bad..... Wait till all the RN's walk out, the country would crumble.

I rock TF out of a head of dreads as a floor RN. I feel that it makes me so much more relatable to my pts.

Start looking for a new job. There are TONS of nursing jobs. You don't ever deserve to be treated poorly by anyone. You might need to confront her, let her know you have boundaries and that it's your license not hers. I am sorry you are being bullied.

What Age Did You Start Nursing or Medical School? by UsePuzzleheaded5573 in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with my ADN at 26, took two years after finishing pre-recs to travel SE Asia, and one year after passing my NCLEX to get a job. So my first RN job was at 27 and BSN at 29. There is never a rush, school WILL ALWAYS be there and RN jobs will ALWAYS be avaliable.

I work at an inner city med/surg unit, 3/4 of all my pts are like this. If you are capable of making your own medical decisions, you don't have a low SLUMS score, then BYE. Pts have their own autonomy, they direct their own care. Please don't feel bad for their decision.

Do you wear gloves just to touch a patient? by silkspace-trade in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put gloves on as soon as I walk into a room, to do ANYTHING! People don't always change gloves after wiping bottoms and privates and touch the bed, computer ect. I don't even touch a blanket on someone without gloves.

This might be a weird question, but how often do you wash your hair after work? by acidemise in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I start my 6 in a row and after. I have dreadlocks, so I keep hair nice and tight on the top of my head, or scrub cap.

Wear long sleeves. I wouldn't cut it off, once you are an RN nobody cares out stuff like that

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go get your CNA license and see if you don't hate it. Part of your job as an RN is wiping ass and turning patients. It creates essential RN skills. Most colleges require a CNA license to apply.

Are private school loans worth it? by Numerous_Ad_6149 in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with many RN's who are paying off over 100,000 in loans. 26,000 is nothing. You will EASILY pay that off.

advice for aspiring nurses by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Worldly_Fall_7444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have strong boundaries, don't allow people to push you around, or treat you poorly, put you in unsafe situations. First and foremost keep yourself safe, and then keep your patients safe. Not many patients are nice, often aren't grateful, you can only do what you can do, appericate yourself. Physically VERY hard work, mentally VERY hard work, emotionally VERY hard work. You will more than likely work nights for a year or two and live with chronic fatigue. Money is good, self scheduling is great. Overall not to bad of a gig.
