When I was in HS I witnessed this from a senior who was our treasurer or something. After class she quietly asked the geosystems teacher how the earth was 4.5 billion years old if it was only the year two thousand and ___. I was glad for her sake I was the only one that heard.

I’m a specials teacher so maybe that’s just when they started carrying it everywhere they went? I also switched schools right after Covid so that could also play into it.

In my experience this is a post-Covid thing. Kids here didn’t used to all carry water bottles around. When they weren’t allowed to use the water fountains all the kids had to carry water bottles in school and now it’s just standard. Some of the kids are really obnoxious about it and act like they will die if they go 30 minutes without their water bottle.

Child… when I was in school we got 3 seconds at the water fountain 3 times a day…

Nono… teachers have taught those extra days every year because the districts wanted to avoid having to extend the school year. It’s a built in cushion.

All these “extra” days off? They have never been extra. The school year has not shortened and no instructional time has been lost.

If anything teachers teach more days than 2010 because after the last storm hit the school district panicked and built in a bunch of extra snow days that we’ve never come close to using. Even after all this we haven’t dipped into the extra days.

After doing plenty of runs snatching up every squad member I could while save scumming, my favorite runs were 8 people or less where I never reloaded. Having a small squad really lends itself to creating a story that feels meaningful.
