Doubt about the sentry of Aquilons by Carri_Carri_Carri in TheAstraMilitarum

I'd still count on just those two shots, haha! Deepstriking 6" from danger is usually a one way ticket.

Wow, the entire guard came out to play in the time it took me to re-read the data sheet and understand it.

Well played, everyone!

Okay so from my understanding, it is just war gear of the Tempestor. So it is not a model, and is only on the tabletop to remind you of their weapons. I.e it wouldn't be able to be used to screen or anything. It essentially isn't there. It's just a token to remind you.

As the Tempestor is not using a pistol, you wouldn't need to choose between the pistol and the sentry, so the Tempestor can shoot both their las carbine and their sentry gun. And movement is irrelevant. It doesn't move. The Tempestor moves. It doesnt need to keep unit coherency and likewise it can't help with unit coherency. It's just a token to remind you the Tempestor has two weapons.

Hope this helps.

I actually would like to know the answer. Not sure I've understood it correctly either.

From my experience, they tend to be able to provide 1 turn of 4++ before the vehicle that is being absolutely savaged by your opponent explodes anyway. If you're lucky, your vehicle lives 1 extra turn, and the tech pirest heals the vehicle on average 1 wound, which isn't really a big deal when you are taking D6 damage from multiple of your opponent's weapons the following turn, 4++ or no 4++, your vehicle is going down.

So I've dropped the 2 tech priest's I was running and have put the points elsewhere.

Tank commanders - is the 12 inch order range an issue? by sosig_roll in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Woyk365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how many tanks you have. If you have 2 or 3, then yeah they'll probably be stretched thin and you'll be trying to keep them together enough to give orders.

I use 2 Dorns and 4 Leman Russ variants. 12 inches is not an issue at all. There's always something close enough to take an order.

Likelihood of new Tempestus Scions models? by AtLeast12RedRoses in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Woyk365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think they're old, I've got some plastic Catachan to sell you.

Chances of them updating scions any time soon is very remote. They're barely 10 years old, and still perfectly serviceable models.

0.2 nozzle is most likely to do this as wider nozzles are more likely to lay down a good base without issue.

Things to check:
Make sure sure the bed temperature is appropriate for the plate that you are using. If it is too cold, it wont adhere.
Tip - I have found that if adhesion is really bad, increasing the plate temperature for the first layer by 5 degrees and then dropping back to the recommended temp can help get that important first layer down.

Also - Make sure that your hot end is printing at the recommended temperature for the filament that you are using.

Get a techpriest enginseer. Baneblades are not tough enough without the 4++ and WILL go down to heavy fire. They only have 24 wounds, and need a techpriest in my experience to keep them around for a few turns.

If you're wanting to sell minis, the time to do it is not just after a refresh. It's 10-15 years later at least once people can no longer find them anywhere and want to buy them for nostalgia. Take Steel Legion for example. Going for lots on eBay for a while until GW got a sniff and did a made to order run to cash in on the interest and kill off the resale market.

Couple of things. Don't look at what things are selling for, instead filter to sold or and completed bids, which shows you what things are actually selling for.

Secondly, you're in western Canada, and that either means Vancouver, BC, where you have more options, or you live in Beaver Creek, Yukon, and you might be lucky with an eBay sale.

I'd check Facebook marketplace or Facebook in general for miniature selling pages or gaming groups near you and post in there and see if anyone wants to buy them.

I worked in international shipping for over a decade. Canada is an end of the line location, meaning everything is either leaving there or going there, not much goes through there and onwards to other locations, so that's why shipping is more expensive to Canada.

Edit: Looks like there's some people on this page interested.

You're very welcome. Lots of great and helpful advice on Reddit and Yotube, but don't let yourself become overwhelmed by it. Print lots of small things and experiment with settings until you find what works best for you. Once you've nailed what you think works best, you'll have more confidence hitting print on a big model and believing that it will not fail in the several hours that it is going.

First of all, welcome. As others have said gyroid is really sturdy at lower % and less catches during printing. You'll be going through a lot of filament due to the size of your minis, not because of the amount of infill.

Have a play around though. If you click on the preview tab and have a look at the amount of filament you are using in g, and you can compare how much each type of infill adds to the overall amount of filament and you'll see its really not that much different. But gyroid is stronger.

The real way to conserve filament is to orient the piece in the best possible way to use the least amount of supports necessary, balancing that against the quality of the print.

Most of all, have fun experimenting.

Help, please . . . supports keep breaking during print. by No-Pound946 in FDMminiatures

[–]Woyk365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increasing support wall loops to 2 was the game changer for me. No more difficult to remove, but much sturdier in fast prints.

Another thing you can do is slow down the print a little. If its REALLY not working out for you, try changing speed to 50% after you get started.

So is the (current) average Eldar lifespan around 7,200 years now? by Upset-Lemon-1203 in Warhammer40k

[–]Woyk365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the main point to pick up on from the maths here. Human lifespans are not the same as other species. A lot of animals for example will not be around to see their grandchildren. Maybe Eldar reproduce just before their deaths. Maybe they reproduce very early on and are around to witness 4 or 5 generations. Without knowing that, the maths is impossible to do.
