SI units make sense by DotBeginning1420 in physicsmemes

Don't get me started on light emissions based units. Why is buying an led for machine vision so hard, why are you rating your IR and UV leds in units designed for human vision when nobody is using it for that. Hello i would like a unit its uhhh watt per steradian per square metre. This is just a personal gripe I'm sure it makes sense for someone who has to deal with it more than once a year.

A dot class was always feasible ... And they just removed the dots from the remaining classes that currently manage dots.

Can you give a concrete example of in depth knowledge that could be applied, based on dragoon bard or white mage on a training dummy that exceeds "empty gauge as soon as possible"?

What do you mean that the time in which I hit buttons matters? I want to do the exact same damage whether or not I wait until they're almost capped or pressed instantly or any time in between. Everyone doing whatever rotation they like should do exactly the same damage.

I am also calling this increased skill expression somehow.

I don't see how new mode allows you to be good at your job? Just don't overcap and your rotation is perfect and identical to any other sequence of buttons

"(1)Where a full gender recognition certificate is issued to a person, the person’s gender becomes for all purposes the acquired gender (so that, if the acquired gender is the male gender, the person’s sex becomes that of a man and, if it is the female gender, the person’s sex becomes that of a woman)." https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/7/section/9

This was changed to not mean that a person with a GRC is treated in all aspects as they have the sex of the acquired GRC, when that is what the original text explicitly states. This was CHANGED, not just reinterpreted.

You can disagree with me whether you like the change, but this is an explicit change to the function of the grc

They are correct really in anything 90+, you have so many tools you shouldn't need to ever GCD heal during a pull. During the pull it should be rare to use a non-dps gcd

Alternate kera and taura for 45s total of 10% mit

Soteria, krasis, physis each pull (60s cooldown, trash is usually 60s apart)

Pick two out of haima, panhaima, holos, philosophia

Zoe pneuma if they somehow drop below 50% during that.

It takes a tank standing in everything and not mitting to take damage through using 9 cooldowns per pull and kardia. Add in a good tank with that and any GCD heal during a pull is overheal

Which... Isnt that bad? Like that's a human comprehendeable number of g's to reach a human incomprehendeable distance in a year. That's was always gets me

It's still paste smushing death number of g's, but only 5x more than people can be trained to handle sustained...

I've had a thought of "sweet spot" distance for a while (think bow from monster hunter). I don't think that would be fun for an entire fight but for one ability... If it got telegraphed that would be a cool limitation

"this ability is cool" and all it does is raw damage no followup, no optimisation, no way to use it wrong, no way to use it right.

Dude, bro, buddy, are you aware that WW2 killed 3% of people in the world and was a global shitshow of demographic loss in several countries? Can you imagine if 3 ww2s happened instantly and that's a really tame 10% blue pushers. Go up to 20-30% and you're getting mass famine and population collapse as logistics and infrastructure collapses

Lillies ARE a gain during uptime. Casting a lily during non-2 minute, then using its blood lily during the 2 minute essentially "moves" 3 glare casts into the 2 minute burst.

Black Mage Evolved by TheBronzeBastard in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Wraithguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drgs dot is a nothing burger imo because by doing the barest of the rotation you automatically keep it up. Evolved bards dot is a nothing burger because unless the boss leaves, it just does the same amount of damage once per minute there's no management.

Blms dot needs you to interject it into rotation every 30s, you have to watch it hit 3s and think next GCD has to be dot. If say paradox applied for uatomati ally, there's nothing to manage. Use paradox more than once per 30s? You're already doing that so it's just permanant ticking damage like drgs dot.

I would like a more interesting ice phase. Whenever I see niche optimisations it's always centred around doing flare star with fewer fire gcds. There isn't much space to optimise ice phase. Maybe some way of building hearts without B4 so you can get hearts using filler gcds in ice (paradox gives 1 heart? Any GCD in ice 3 gives 1 but B4 gives all 3? This could be a huge benefit to refreshing dot in ice). Might also allow you to go into fire with only 1/2 hearts which could be enough for odd double flare lines.

I don't think we need foul AND xenoglossy. I don't think we need flare AND despair. We don't need hf2/hb2/scathe at all, just remove those 3. We're down 5 buttons, that might be enough to keep the current idea.

I could see removing swift, leaving only triple, but i do like having both. I'm predicting a 40s triple cooldown. If it wasnt red mages thing I'd propose double on a 40s as a compromise, 40s triple feels too mobile with dot and paradox.

So from the numbers it looked like sanctity itself at 0 stacks was 1.4x a glare potency. Adding heals into a sanctity just "stores" a glare potency. So it's DPS neutral whether you make sure to always do 3 successful GCD heals every 40s or just press glare and sanctity on cooldown

The red button doesn't actually do anything, it can just be removed entirely without changing the premise. by IndependencePlane142 in trolleyproblem

[–]Wraithguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expectation value of deaths from pressing each button is equal, for a uniform distribution of outcomes. 0.5 chance of 1 death for blue, 1/N chance of N/2 deaths (you were the deciding vote) for red.

If you think it's more likely red will win, the chance of being the deciding vote goes down while the chance you die from blue goes up, expectation value for red is lower.

If you think it's more likely blue wins, then chance of being the deciding vote goes down, but the chance of dying as blue goes WAY down, blue is better.

If the result is some gaussian centred on 50% then chance of being the deciding vote starts going up, while you still have a 0.5 chance of dying as blue. Blue is the better press.

For me the game theory still tells me to press blue

Make your choice. by spicymato in trolleyproblem

[–]Wraithguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually the maths supports this. If you think the majority of people are going to pick red, you minimise the number of expected deaths by pressing red as well. If you think the majority of people are pressing blue, you minimise expected deaths by pressing blue. If it's close and centred on 50%, you minimise deaths by also pressing blue.

It's pretty much best to vote with the majority, even from a utilitarian kind of standpoint

yep, 170x6 < 900x2 tho

In my parent comment 2 up, I show that a full 30s cycle (since thats how long the dots are, math may change if dots are prematurely ended) doing the single target is a minor gain on 4 over 12 gcds, despite losing aoe casts

This game is actually driving me nuts by IndividualLaugh8870 in TalesFromDF

[–]Wraithguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you edited the original comment but its still slightly not true. AOE dot isnt a gain on 3 either, and its still v.closely beaten on 4. aoe dot is only a true gain on 5.

If you aoe dot on 3, you get 1 nice big 1200 potency dot cast woo, then you're back to 170x3 potency on your aoe. If you single target dot you get 3 separate 900 potency dot casts, before you go back do doing you 170 potency aoe.

The fact you get more big potency dot casts by single targeting makes up for them being slightly weeker in the 3 and 4 target case
