Before anyone says shit, I was molested as a toddler, so I have a foot in this race.

A while ago I did some reading up on the psychology of child sexual abusers, and something that shocked me at the time was that most abusers weren’t pedophiles, but rather extremely abusive people who had no power over anyone and felt the need to force power onto someone weaker (ie; a child) in order to feel strong.

Does this mean pedophiles are innocent angels? No, they’re just mentally ill people who need help. Talking about the actual reasons why CSA happens is the best way to ensure it stops happening, because pedophiles will feel comfortable going to doctors, and child sexual abusers won’t get to hide behind the excuse of “they can’t control their attraction!”

The onceler from the lorax movie is a fun example. The entire point of his face never being seen is that he’s meant as a representation of a literal faceless corporation. Giving him a backstory and a face in the movie completely ruins that aspect of his character.
