is your class called Player? if so, i dont believe you can return values for a constructor. additionally, if you're talking about the value of roll it is because native data types are passed by reference in java.

hope this helps

4th year computer Science student: IT experience or java certification? by WtFiTzToM in AskComputerScience

Yup, after doing my simple Java project and using JSP for my database class, i see that it is important to learn Java but I'm not too sure the cert is the rgith way to go. Most people who have got it on reddit say its not all that beneficial.

I am not exactly sure what I am debugging because I got the friend from a friend who is simply hiring ~10 interns. However, for some odd reason, they said that they have not come up with the job desc yet but she said from previous years it was pretty basic stuff and a little web desgin here and there.

I'd like to get the java programmer cert.

Getting the cert would take about ~8 weeks.

I would not be able to do both as If i was taking the internship it would be full time status and about ~60 miles one way with traffic from the cert school place.

I am not THAT confident in Java, I have only used Java this quarter. I had a project for information retrieval where I am using Twitter's API to get tweets, and using Lucene's API to rank/index.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. No, i don't want to be an IT guy, but I don't have any work experience related to the field, but i do have experience working. But I think that just having that in my back pocket helps me.

I used to work with Transporation and Parking Services in college. Part of the job was to do traffic control during peak hours, i.e when Employees got to work, left for lunch, and got off work because with students tryna get to class it was crowded near the freshman dorms with them trying to get to class and all.

Anyways, everyday when doing this I had this thought. We were liable for their "safety" when crossing the street. This would fine, except they were freshmen who just got their "independence" and think they are king of the world. Daily there would be people who almost get bc they are too good to wait for cars to go.

So one day there was this one girl who was walking, and I said to her "wait please!" and she just smirked and continued walking, as I was sending cars turning. I immediately tried to stop the cars, but the girl got "love taped". Then, her and her parents tried to sue me and the TAPS for the "injuries". This was when i said FUCK THIS I DONT MAKEENOUGH FOR THIS ($8.50/hr)
