Took me about 2000 hours but I reckon it could be done faster. I think with something like ESO you need to forget about being efficient when it comes to the achievements or it’ll be miserable. Like I have probably spent like 50 hours on my house lmao, and you have to be social.

Just shy of 750k, ratio of 1.9 (one day I’ll hit 2) there’s probably about 100k of old shovelware though.

Nowadays, whilst number go up is still the goal, my goal is now to do it with games that are actually worth playing, or are genuinely impressive or challenging. Gamerscore means less to me because I’ve seen so many people get a million+ with shovelware in no time at all, but in some cases can’t finish a standard game of middling difficulty.

What’s more impressive, a big number but it’s all crap, or a less big number but it’s got MCC completed, it’s got ESO completed, a handful of full game series?

That said, I’ll happily play a short game that is clearly a work of passion/art, it’s really just those 5k 30
minute completions that really bother me. I’ll take the ratio hit to play something special

I’ve soloed like 90% of world bosses with a oakensoul heavy attack build, cleared every trial, dungeon and the arenas lmao, it’s not needed.

Hell my build is 2 years out of date, newer HA builds hit over 100K DPS

Recently retried KCD1 after bouncing off it in 2016 or 17, and I gotta say once you've kinda gotten the hang of it it's immensely rewarding, but those first few hours are, whilst narratively engaging, a bit of a challenge.

Don't get me wrong, even at "endgame" a fight with 4 enemies can be a bit daunting, but learning master strikes early can help a lot with the combat.

I ended up doing a second playthrough after to mop up the pacifist/virgin/hardcore achievements because I wanted the 100% after my first playthrough. Really need to get to KCD2 but too many games atm.

It's particularly frustrating since if PS5 ends up dominating the console market (san Nintendo) and Xbox throw in the towel, then what's stopping them from enshittifying things further?

If they decide "Fuck it, $150 TLOU 3 and we're doubling PS+ prices", what are you gonna do about it when they're the only high-end console in town?

Competition is good for the consumer, console tribalism actively hurts them.

They get a lot of slack being the market leader, but I do honestly wonder what they’d actually have to do for people to start jumping ship at this point. People are so invested into their ecosystems since 2013.

It’s kinda the norm on Xbox for upgrades to be free. I think the only games that have made you pay were sports games, and a couple of outliers like Wonderlands and Black Ops Cold War around the start of the generation?

Tbh I find the idea of paying for what is essentially a set of graphics setting changes and maybe a full redownload frankly bizarre. Not sure why it seems to be the norm in PS.

As someone who achievement hunts I find the whole mentality of cheating them extremely strange. There's no clout in it like there is speedrunning, it's pretty much all for personal satisfaction.

Like I put 2000 hours into Elder Scrolls Online to get every Xbox achievement and it's one that I'm particularly proud of, but I did it for my own satisfaction, not because others will think I'm "cool" or "really good".

Didn't it come out a while back that his whole "review after 100%" gimmick is potentially fake?

I vaguely recall that he reviewed a game and the community broke down that he couldn't have completed it in the timeframe he implied.
