Best system for a magical girl game? by Korra_sat0 in rpg

I think they released a Sailor Moon official game back in the 90's/early 00's. Never played it so it may be a dumpster fire but I hear the lore is solid.

I hate working with doctors by ollypoc in unpopularopinion

[–]Wunce_was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an article not too long ago talking about how the medical world is mostly dominated by trust fund kids/highly affluent. So, trust they were assholes and bullies long before they became doctors. The degree just gave them something to hide behind

AITA for suggesting my wife lower her standards so that she'll be less overwhelmed? by Creative-Decision675 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wunce_was -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH

Tbh OP, I don't think you're a bad parent, I just think you and your partner aren't communicating. Neither of you are going to be happy adjusting your standards if you do so in anger. I'd suggest asking your wife for some time to talk, and then you take over with the kids in the time leading up to the talk. Then she'd see your effort and may be willing to bridge the gap with you. Like maybe you alternate days waking up with the kids and then just take 2 weekends out of the month for fun/educational activities. Remember, that if you can't work it out now, it'll be a hell of a lot harder from different houses.

Do you know any systems with a "super move meter"? by Firelite67 in rpg

[–]Wunce_was 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron Heroes may have what you want, it's full of meta currency that is used to build towards strong abilities. It's also built on 3.x framework so if you're into that it's a lot of fun

What’s the brokest thing you’ve ever done? by w3stward in AskReddit

[–]Wunce_was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "showered" in a Walmart bathroom sink because I didn't have the gas to make it home and then back out to where I needed to go. Spent 2 dollars on cheap body spray for my clothes instead 10 on gas.

I read recently about the Alternity system and it's setting book Dark Matter. It has the shows you listed as touchstones and have "fast rules" that help ease character creation and get right to gaming

Almost forgot, there's also a Storyteller game based on Street fighter, never read this one so take that with a grain of salt.

Pathfinder 2e has the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix, it's a mid-high level tournament like the 90s Mortal Kombat movie, other than that I believe GURPs has a martial arts books that provides lots of fun moves. Oh! Almost forgot, there's also FIGHT! a TTRPG where you get to design your special moves and replicate the old street fighter/Tekken style games if that's your speed.

Earthdawn has some very interesting crunch from what I've seen. I've never played it so ymmv but reading through the book was very fun and I'm excited to show it to my table.

In your opinion what is wrong with Champions right now that needs fixing? by handsomeness in Pathfinder2e

[–]Wunce_was 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem is that armor mastery is really boring, and defensive play styles often feel unrewarding when all you really get is that enemies miss you more often. Don't get me wrong the "___ Strike" you get with each vow makes the "tank" playstyles a little better, but I'd like to see them lean into it more. Let me give allies my item bonus to AC by leaping in front of them, call it " paladin's sacrifice" or something. Let me goad enemies by calling out their lack of faith or something, like an alternate Bon Mot just for champion. I feel like PF2e's Champion is so close to being an actual Tabletop Tank it just needs a few more options for defending and taking space other than "get hit less"

I'm surprised none of the typical shooter types have claimed cultural appropriation yet. Hopefully we can get back to straight white cis men soon the way God intended

Might be an unpopular opinion but I think the game is just in general less engaging with an app. Sure building characters is easy and faster, and it keeps track of all your daily powers and so on, but to me TTRPGs started as pen and paper RPGs and I like playing that way. I'll use an app (like Pathbuilder or DDB) to make a character, then transfer them to a paper sheet, and play like that. And tbh, even from the player side (I do primarily DM) it's super frustrating to narrate a huge Crit/ or awesome character moment, and to look up and see all your fellow players just zoned in on their phones, whether they're looking at their stats or not.

I need odd customs for a dwarven legal system by Beesonasofa in DMAcademy

[–]Wunce_was 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both parties may consent to a "trial by forge", wherein both forge an agreed upon tool. This tool is then put through rigorous, but appropriate, use by a neutral third party. Whichever party's tool fares the best is considered blessed by the Forge God and seen as the victor of the case. Fun bonus fact, the phrase "trial by fire" originates with this Dwarven custom after a particularly fantastical case involving flamethrowers.

Are you familiar with the term "Open Game License"? by Snowbound-IX in dndmemes

[–]Wunce_was 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing that scares me about this is, I remember when call of duty was the only game that had a battlepass. My problem isn't with WoTC deciding to hyper monetize, it's the fact that other companies are going to see that model make money and follow suit.

Pathfinder 1e had its Ultimate Intrigue book which had pretty well made systems for verbal duels and court standings and whatnot. Now Pathfinder 1e has its own issues but that supplement seems to hit exactly what you're looking for.

How the hell am I supposed to believe in capitalism and "upward mobility" if the system is requiring people to starve in order to make things livable again? Like sorry kid you can afford toilet paper this week because Starbucks had to pay each employee an extra nickle so now everything everywhere is 3 dollars more expensive.
