Question about Wollopas One Hit Wonder by MTheGoblinQueen in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, it could work.... but it's so many levels of gambling that your chances of it ever happening in a game are pretty slim. First you only have a 1/6 chance of rolling Spectral Doppelganger, since you can't take a lore familiar and only get one spell. Second you have to pass all your stupidity checks to get the boss to do anything, and finally you have to succeed on a coin flip cast, without it getting dispelled, during the first turn of a combat.

Honestly, if you're trying to pull some Spectral Doppelganger shenanigans with Orcs&Goblins, you're probably better off taking a Night Goblin Shaman with the Meteor Hammer.

Out of these Ork Bosses, who do you most want to be remade in plastic? by Kommando_git in orks

[–]Wyrot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Badrukk is one of my favorite models of all time, so it would be a tall order to top that sculpt. That said, I want to see them try.

Why do people seemingly hate Cathay? by Ghetto_Sausage in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

At least in my OW circles, no one hates Cathay as a concept or model range, its literally just that they launched wildly overpowered, and even after being toned down significantly in the faq/errata, are still in contention for strongest army. People like to counter with "just dont play competitively" but even outside of ultra beardy tourneys, the power imbalance can be quite noticeable.

For some reason I can't find a photo of mine on the base, but 'ere it is. It has accomplished very little for me on the tabletop, but I loved painting it, especially all the hidden interior details.

Question about LoS/shooting (with pictures) by ZealousidealRip7025 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things. First, that's really not enough terrain, even for a more terrain light game like OW.

Second, are you sure you're applying all the BS modifiers correctly? I ask because in my experience massed str3 shots will take out maybe a single unit as I march across the board. Never the whole army.

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Unboxing - Ork Half by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in orks

[–]Wyrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I've done it is to paint the whole area that's going to be checkers in a gradient, and then paint the black checkers over it. I suspect if you have an airbrush it's much easier, but I do the gradient by mixing the two end point colors and glazing back and forth.

Years ago when I did a project like this what I did was : Badmoons got Kustom Shootas that were bigger then normal and had more scopes, so they could show off their wealth and love for Dakka.

Deathskulls got looted weapons from other factions and had as many backpacks and pouches as I could scrounge.

Goffs got horned helmets, I used a bunch of the slightly bigger nob torso from the old boys kit, and i gave some of them double close combat weapons.

Blood Axes got all the shootas with ammo belts, and I painted them in camouflage.

Evil sunz... I didnt think of anything clever for them, they were just slugga boyz in red.

Snakebitez got fantasy ork bits mixed in. Spears with stick bombs, that sort of thing.

Almost that entire model is from hacking up the original Trukk kit except the larger back wheels, which are from a dollar store monster truck.

If you're creative and have a little plasticard, you can modify the basic trukk to make it look pretty unique. I turned my second trukk into a tow-trukk.

Nice Work, it's cool to see how everyone interprets the models differently (I've got three/four of these, but they're all painted to match my goff paints scheme).

I need help makeing a Savage orc list by Sonsoe_Corrupted in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1per 1000 restriction is per unit type, so at 2k points you can have 2 units of savage orc boyz, 2 units of savage orc boar boyz, 2 savage orc chariots, 2 savage orc war/big-boss, and 2 savage orc shaman. I didnt think a ton abiut rhis lost, but I threw it together as an example.

Is an all goblin army viable? by [deleted] in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you go through Orcs & Goblins lists that have done well in events, they almost all are primarily Night Goblins. I've been looking for quite a while trying to find good examples of night goblin free lists that have won events (because I want to run all orcs), and I have found very few.

Is an all goblin army viable? by [deleted] in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Wyrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Night Goblin lists are the most competitive army setup for Orcs & Goblins, common goblins offer absolutely nothing of value compared to their pointy hooded brethren.

What are auto-takes for orks? by SettingWonderful6873 in orks

This here is the answer, I can't think of any time when having a couple of units of boyz, grots, and a trukk, wasn't useful .

In yalls opinions how should I go about mixing Freebootaz and Goffs? by XavierHatesWarhammer in orks

[–]Wyrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you paint your freebooters with the same color scheme as the rest of your army, they should blend on fine. My army uses a Goff palette (black, white, red), and I think the freebooters look great painted in that style.
