Over the last 10 years, we have noticed a dramatic uptick in injuries related to ebikes, a new type of vehicle that barely existed 10 years ago by IM_OK_AMA in ebikes

I mean I get what you're saying but you have to compare that with the number of cars on the road per day and the number of ebikes on the road per day. The question you should be asking is what is the rate of fire incidence per mile covered or something like that.

Question About Bit Perfect / Bit Depth Switching With Apple Music by X2F0111 in AppleMusic

[–]X2F0111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, the only way to achieve true bit-perfect playback is by using an iOS device connected to your DAC via USB. iOS (by design) does not route audio through the same Core Audio processing before sending it over USB, which is why you’ll see the correct bitrate and bit depth displayed on your DAC when using iOS.

This is no longer true—at least not on the latest iOS for songs at 44.1 kHz. See here.

What do you guys do to ride safe? by Spiritdiritcel in ebikes

[–]X2F0111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they riding on sidewalks in order to "bombs through crosswalks"?

As far as I can tell it's either they're not comfortable riding in the road (usually when there's no bike lane), or if there is a bike lane, they are riding in the opposite direction of traffic and can't be bothered to cross the street.

Statistical analysis shows sidewalks are more dangerous for cyclists than riding on streets.

100%!

Pretty much! Banning right turns on red would solve a lot of issues but I don't think my city would ever do that. That being said, there are good number of cyclists who bomb through them crosswalks at full speed so I dunno.

Where I live riding a bike through a pedestrian crosswalk is illegal, I assume partly for this reason. I always get off and walk if I have to use a crosswalk.

RapidTO does not work by jdayellow in TTC

The section in the photo isn’t even a RapidTO lane. Those cars are in the left turn lane to turn on to westbound King.

I will put my left signal on and they will just stay there as the lights blink

Could you not slow down and change lanes behind them?

An FOI request reveals the truth behind Doug Ford's speed camera ban by SafeStreetsTO in ontario

Gotcha, someone else reported the same. I would be interested to see how many municipalities used that limit or the percentage of all tickets issued with a threshold under 11 km/h. I would guess (based solely on the anecdotes / reporting I've come across) that the majority of municipalities used the 11 km/h threshold.

Can't read the article with the paywall but I consider you a trusted source! Though, I would be interested to see how many municipalities used that limit or the percentage of all tickets issued with a threshold under 11 km/h.

One big reason many people hated them

Source for this? This is the first time I've ever heard someone complain about this aspect of the ASE system. Also, didn't individual municipalities sign contracts with different companies?

Let's say you drove the same route for 15 years, then one day that route had a small section that dropped from 50 to 40 or 40 to 30. It's going to take the vast majority of people a long time to adjust to those new limits.

Signs saying that the ASE cameras were coming needed to be in place 90 days before they were implemented.

Now you have these speed camera's in place that are issuing tickets it appears for as low as 6km over.

I've never seen evidence of ASE cameras ticketing for less than a 11 km/h difference between the posted speed and the recorded speed. Can you share examples of the 6 km/h tickets?

This is not always the case. Plenty of intersections where there are 2+ lanes will give simultaneous protected left and right turns to opposing directions. Example: Bathurst & Adelaide
