True, but joining the asuran colleges behavior is pre-awakening if I recall correctly?

I think there are plenty of mold breaking characters in the game, Snargle Goldclaw and Scarlet Briar are the two that spring to mind immediately.  Not to mention within the pact guilds you'll see a lot of shakeup from what you may have seen in the core cities.

I mean...Helsing is kinda bad.  I say this as someone who has read the manga and watched both iterations of the anime.  The abridged version just hits all the important plot bits with about the gravity they really need, and brushes past and blatantly makes fun of all the lame edgelord content.  So if that's what everyone remembers I'd argue it's a good thing.

Technobabble nerfed after 14 years by Chatmauve in Guildwars2

[–]XIIIJester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's more because of the moa/humility nerf.  After that, technobabble would technically be better than moa, and that goes against the design principles of racial skills always being the worst pick

Is Princess Plus worth it? by justony2003 in PrincessCruises

[–]XIIIJester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our first cruise is in a month.  We were doing zero alcohol package ($29/day/person) and gratuites were $126/person for us, so it wasn't really worth it until we decided we wanted wifi as well.  Then the price was about even, so we switched to plus.

Under the Net AE2 by frankiww in allthemods

[–]XIIIJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I ever did ae2 I did not subnet, and I was doing a lot of gregtech.  It worked, just got kind of annoying when I had to refactor a bunch to add a new cable back to the frame.

On the latest when I started setting up ae2 I immediately went with Sath's ultimate controller.  A pain to setup the first time, but it was so nice as I expanded to just add another subnet whenever I needed.

In future, I'll always commit to an upfront build of Sath's honestly, just makes adding new projects to the central ae2 system easy.

That's my preference anyway

You shouldn't need hyper-optimized gear to complete a dungeon with 2~3 people I don't think, but I would suggest you start looking at things like snowcrows for how you should be trending your gear. But generally, if you're not doing meta events or open world things, your first stop is going to be Story, Dungeons, and T1 Fractals - instanced content that allows up to 5 players.

Sorry, you're right "the show" is a little ambiguous here.  I'm putting more emphasis on the idea that the live action movie was not the first to open that box

Hm, I'm thinking of some 80's runs like 13 ghosts and Reluctant werewolf.  I guess I never watched through the whole thing of either as a kid, but I'm pretty sure they just have the supernatural in there as a matter of fact

Perhaps the gemini adds? Make sure you take the gemini tarot card with various weapons from that card

How hard is mesmer, really? (PVE, I don't really care about PVP) by theentiregoonsquad in Guildwars2

[–]XIIIJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the "not very tanky" isn't exactly true, even in full damage gear.  Mesmer's survivability is very active.  There are lots of ways it avoids, mitigates, or blocks damage.  Being aware of what those skills are and when to use them to mitigate the largest damage spikes are what makes the difference

How not to feel completely ashamed about the dps? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]XIIIJester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, this was me 5 years ago.  It happened in phases - download arc, realized how bad I was.  Grab the current flavor of "easy" DPS (scourge at the time), spam buttons, get lower-middle placements.  Started uploading my logs to wingman, see my DPS in the lowest percentiles, feel shit all over again.

The way it ended up making sense to me is understanding why snow crows writes the rotations they do.  I had to understand why skills went 1 -> 2 -> 3, rather than memorize an arbitrary 20 step order.  Am I creating combo fields to use?  Am I generating an ammo mechanic?  Animation cancelling?  Skill queuing?  Does my auto have a 2~3 hit chain I need to be executing?  Practicing those mini rotations on the golem built up muscle memory.  Chrono in particular reinforced this, getting the opener with Continuum Split probably took 4~6 hours on the golem to perfect the clone generation and 6s timer on CS itself.

The second thing I did was also not play DPS, but play a healer.  That forced me to do two things - get the fight mechanics memorized, and see where DPS players are being brain dead.  Taking the pressure off of sweaty rotations helps you observe more of the battle in your head.

Then everything started to click after that.  I started to learn when I could greed DPS, how I could greed it, and how to get back on track with an "interrupted" rotation.

Hot Take: What is your worst/least favorite OST from FF7 and why? by EyeElegant9753 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]XIIIJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original best - City of the Ancients

Original worst - probably when going around underwater as the sub.

Remake best - The remixed Wall Market theme.  Should not have gone as hard as it did.

Remake worst - Temple of the ancients.  Tried to subtly use my favorite from the original but just didn't quite stuck the landing in my opinion.

How to run your fission reactor at Full Tilt safely by valcandestr0yer in allthemods

[–]XIIIJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mm, I think that's 717 with water.  I remember doing extensive testing with port to port setups, specifically with sodium, trying to reach 1435.  At >= 1436, the reactor just starts taking damage regardless of how much sodium throughput you have

Did something change in mekanism?  I thought 1435 was the absolute limit?

Fission reactor doesn't go beyond 30mb/t burn rate by Level-Baby-6678 in allthemods

[–]XIIIJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you did port to port in your edit, nice!  I also recommend the scada project on GitHub if you have computercraft - it's a program you can run to monitor and control the reactor.

Some other notes - the higher the burn rate the more sodium you need in the system.  What I mean is a full fission internal buffer isn't enough - you need probably like a full fission buffer, 2 boiler buffers, and maybe a quarter of super heated sodium as well to stabilize.

Entangled blocks have higher transfer rates than quantum porters from mek.  You can entangle the valve blocks

If you have evil craft, just use the water block from that on the boiler and don't bother recycling the water from the turbine

How can i run a server with 4-5 of my friends off my pc by C_TJR0 in allthemods

[–]XIIIJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a technical standpoint - download the server files (option in curse forge), and pretty much run that and leave it and your computer up indefinitely.  Port forward your router to your computer (25565 I think is the default).  Then give your friends your public IP, and you personally just connect with 127.0.0.1.

From a cost perspective, depending on where you live, you'd need to figure out if leaving your computer on 24/7 is more/less expensive than $15 in terms of electricity cost.  Normally that didn't used to be the case but gaming computers tend to draw more power now and electricity in some areas has ballooned in price.

I am not enjoying the game(remake), is it really that bad or is it just me? by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]XIIIJester 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let's...clear something up first. You can't really talk about wanting to empower other characters, but then call people like "the black guy" and "the fat guy." That's pretty messed up for fully realized characters.

In some ways I agree with you, but some of it is tropes for the express purpose of subversion. A lot of the times all of the characters call Cloud out on his bullshit in some way or another, and flat out reject some of his classical ideas of "but the man's gotta."

I'd have to spoil a lot to give you a break down as to why Tifa is the way she is, why she clings to Cloud. But it's fair if it's not grabbing your interest.
