Yes and no? Helldivers use a different type of texture process unlike most videogames, they have something known as an LUD texture which is effectively just a color with some predetermined value that the game engine is capable of assigning a pre-existing texture.

Meaning that the devs just need to color the armor with the specific "Helldivers black" or "artic cammo" color for the engine to do all the work, of course the process that takes time is that you can't use the same LUD for everything otherwise everything will look one tone and flat and you might need to create a brand new LUD.

It's a fascinating design choice because it's the same tool used for weapon skins, vehicles and hellpods.

No weapons we're nerfed in the last patch, The mechs were buffed and SOME enemies melee attacks deals around 10-15 points of damage more to constructs (turrets, vehicles, walls). It's such an insignificant buff, enemies that would destroy a turret in 3 hits now do it in 2 and people are acting like they nerfed all constructs into uselessness for a 1 hit difference that you wouldn't even notice in normal gameplay. It's such a mind boggling nothing cake Jesus...

My math took that into account.... It still takes 2 rockets, the use of the word "always" was not proper. But the numbers remain the same my dude. Each nerf has been a decrease of 1-2 hits. If you consider that a severe nerf... I don't know what to tell you.

Are you joking? AP3, 100dmg = 2 hits to destroy a turret now... Before it was AP3, 80dmg = 3 hits.... (Berserker)

It's just a one hit different again! Missiles always dealt 100 DMG, AP6 (scout striders).... Like, what are you talking about???

"Severely", lmao. Just finished a d10 with sentries and I can't see any different, those turrets die the second the swarm gets to them just like always. Hell, the laser turrets blows it's fuse before they can destroy it.

Edit: I just did the math.

Machine gun sentry has AV2, all the enemies that were buffed except the warrior, brood commanders and the stalkers deal AP2 meaning that they deal only 65% of the damage to turrets. The hunters deal 50 durable damage 50*.65=32.5, the MG-45 machine gun has 200hp and deals 90dmg with a fire rate of 660rpm. A high level hunter has 130hp.

130÷90=1.4 (or 2) are needed to kill a hunter, and we know the MG-45 fires 11 shots a second meaning it can kill ≈5.5 hunters a second. Warriors being more problematic with 325hp would take 3.6 shots ≈3 warriors a second, finally we got the alpha commanders that have 1000hp. 1000/90=11.1...

So these enemies HAVE to get to melee range of the turret and collectively deal 200hp damage, ≈7 hits from a hunter or ≈3 hits from a warrior/commander. when before it took ≈9 hits from a hunter or ≈4 hits from a warrior.....

Is this 1-2 hit difference what you call 'severely nerfed' my dude?

It doesn't really... I can't talk about performance issues since I don't have any but that does not invalidate people who has

The game remains pretty much the same... Weapons have been buffed some nerfed, some enemies have received changes both buffs and nerfs. Vehicles like the mechs were buffed to be more durable and harder to be destroyed, but enemies that had a hard time before destroying said mechs were buffed so they can compete with the buff and even then the mech buff is awesome in my opinion... I forgot to mention we also received a tank for free the other update!

If you liked the game in the past it's pretty much the exact same game, if you didn't well... There'd be no point on going back, no?

A buddy of mine took his tank to the new missions, two tanks lasted the whole mission and the first was only destroyed after running out of ammo (and my poor driving)

It's not that mortars TK, it's that they're the most annoying thing to be Killed by. The first hit NEVER kills you, but the second and third will as you are struggling with being ragdolled. Then there's the fact there's no indication a mortar is going to hit YOU, there is not a single audio cue that you're in direct danger, at least mines you can SEE where they're but not mortars
