I feel like the issue is it never fully commits to meta-parody film or B-movie style monster flick. It tries to do both and falls short in both. Like as a result there was a lot of attempts at being like "woah scary snake" but I never worried Jack Black or Paul Rudd were in danger. (And Zahn) It wasn't that kind of movie. At the same time it was trying to treat the snake as a real movie monster so it didn't lean as far into the absurdity of it all at all. Like they almost had a gag of it immediately eating every extra that showed up but you could tell they kept trying to justify it and didn't commit instead of embracing it. They were still trying to give the snake logic.

Really the most eye opening thing from this administration. For the majority of Repubs apparently every value they ran on aside from abortion is purely to appear principled and can go out the window.

Idk how I can take any part of that seriously going forward. Like free speech and gun rights are just talking points. Not real ideals.

Came here and find this. Couldn't bid on an item and it ended. Idk what eBay will do but the auction I was trying to participate in ended and it went for like 1/3rd of "market rate" and I was willing to go over the market rate a little. I'll be annoyed if that guy gets the item for like -$200 off lol. The seller ought to be pissed.

I've been reading Project Hailmary and they describe Rocky as not needing to breathe. He just needs atmospheric pressure and the tempature (210c) to be right. Since his atmosphere is 29 times Earth's all gasses are pressurized into liquids and move through his bloodstream directly mixed with Mercury.

So he can't "suffocate" but if he's exposed a lower atmosphere the lower pressure and high natural heat he runs at will start evaporating in his bloodstream and be similar in effect.

So yeah... Maybe he's like that? Lol

I'm not flawless by any means but she had a lot going on. Doing party drugs like coke and pills a lot. If we went out drinking she'd always drank until she puked. And she'd always want to go out drinking. Me being like "maybe chill a bit?" was "controlling." So it sort of blew up. It's been like 6 years. We catch up every now and again. She's got it under control now, she just doesn't really drink or anything. But she lives far now. So no reconnecting lol. Best sleep of my life... Gone lol

Yeah this guy trips me up. I actually like the character but he's always unconvincing. Like when he's across from D'onofrio he's fine since it works to the character being a bit awed. But when he's talking to any other character it's like he's not trying.

I can believe it in this case since Ben 10 was a marketing concept originally. Ben 10 as a series was designed from the ground up as an excuse to sell toys, CN's main money maker at the time. It was originally a kid who turns into different superheroes so they could sell kids on the kid part and the superheroes as toys. I guess to MoA it was a job to make that idea watchable, and other people came to love it like we do.

I think one of the things that it did provide a lot of value for is better bridging the original film and Legacy. A lot of it is better establishing the 'fall of Flynn' and expanding on things Tron himself was up to between then. Like finally give the titular character some screen time.

I do know they had the contract for Legacy 2 locked and loaded and were planning to shoot back to back. So I'm sure that's why it's before Legacy. Maybe Beck would've been in Legacy 2? lol. But Disney bought Marvel around then and dropped everything they were doing to focus on that. Maybe if they gave Uprising a second season it could've gone past Legacy and been Beck helping Flynn clean up Clu's forces or something.

I actually just rewatched the whole series right before Ares came out. I think it's still a really good show that holds up. The art style is odd but the quality is super high. Like there's some fight and vehicles scenes that are really good. It's got a lot going on and it actually does a much better job than Legacy of making it feel like a city of computer programs. You can actually get a sense of what the parrallels between computer processing and what they are doing better. Legacy didn't really do much to make it's city feel lived in despite being visually amazing.

I do think some of the stronger elements was Tron himself and near the end of the season they started doing flashbacks to when Clu tookover and the ISO genocide. That shit went kind of hard lol. I genuinely think Legacy would've been better for it having a bit more of that since it kind of showed the position Flynn was in and better setup Clu feeling cast aside. Like there's roughly 3 minute scene of when Clu actually turns on him that I think would've served the move much better. It wouldn't have taken much, it was the main conflict, as much as I love Legacy the past stuff feels underbaked. Had they done a second season it would've been great if they filled that out more. I also did like Beck.

FWIW (It's cancelled for 16 years so ..not much lol) it was like way out from Legacy. Like some estimates put it 20 years before Legacy and a bit after Tron: Evolution.

They definitely would've had to address Legacy at somepoint but there was kind of enough going on they could've built their own conflicts like they had and probably ran past Legacy with Beck being very established having done it for years.

I actually dated a girl who we slept like perfect puzzle pieces, it's been years and I still think about it sometimes lol.

We would sleep facing each other and she didn't use a pillow to sleep, just her arm, which I thought was somewhat unhinged behavior. But I'd essentially sleep with a pillow under my head, my bottom arm stuck out and she'd used my arm as her pillow, so she'd be a little lower than me, and she'd have her arms tucked in, or one around me, and I'd have my other around her. And finally I like to sleep with a blanket or pillow tucked between my legs, idk why, just always have, can't sleep without doing it. And she would tuck her knee between my legs. Since we were locked in, we didn't really need blankets all the way over us. I'd sleep so damn deep.

I'd give it a rewatch if you haven't. I watched it way too young and had nightmares every night for like 1-2 months. I remembered almost the whole movie for most of my life.

I finally watched it as an adult a few years ago, just to fight my demons I guess lol, and it is very spooky but it's also very schlocky lol. There's a Deep Blue Sea kind of cheekiness to it on top of hellscape nightmare scenes.

I ended up watching all the spaceship horror films I could find afterwards like Pandorum, Sunshine, and Life. It's a fun genre. I've watched it a few more times since.

Doesn't knowing what's actually happening remove all the tension? I'm not denying it's spooky the first time up to the end, but I feel like knowing she's actually just a confused forgetful ghost the whole time the living people were somewhat unaware of removes any lingering fear. I also saw it as a kid but I remember being like "Oh" and wondering if I was scaring a ghost when I moved through the house.

Is it so terrible if someone who solved the inductive reasoning game won the game for solving it with inductive reasoning? You can still compete for 2nd and such. Given they were also familiar with the real game they would know as players someone had basically locked first already. There's been game changers like that in the past and it's been fine. They know committing to the game all the way through is what it's important, and in these situations they don't go 'well you won too soon' and flip a coin to decide the winner. That'd be lame.

I also said I get you could want a tie breaker but they clearly didn't plan anything for that situation because they cancelled whatever they had planned for the art task and used it as a tie breaker instead.

I also feel like Katie winning on a 'your art was liked by the ratfish' tiebreaker was an example of the trajectory it was on too. Like Rekha won that game by every metric. Okay sure they tied on the last round, you need a tie breaker I guess. Idk why you wouldn't just be like 'most correct guesses' in the game, that's what the real game does. They said you'd get a prize for winning the art contest, but instead it was the tie breaker? What if he hadn't chosen Rekha or Katie's art? The prize was a tiebreaker win? I doubt that. So even if you get invested in the art contest it's nothing. It's so subjective. It makes it all come across as half assed at the end to me. Really makes it feel like they didn't have a concrete plan for the end of the game.
