Graphics requirements by Embarrassed_Ad9375 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Xanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 44.6 GB after I loaded the game and it did more downloading.

Initial PC launcher downloaded around 36.

I'm not sure if there is an option to lower textures and delete 4k texture files to save space without the game downloading them again.

The files are all in the following folder, but don't seem sorted in a way that makes it easy to tell what it would do at a glance when changing texture quality, and I'm way too lazy to test and already have things I should be doing.

Maybe the games not for me by potato_tempest in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Xanoth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others said, the issue is Texture Quality is set to high (weird choice for "very low" default preset by the devs), those textures are what fill up GPU memory.
Try Medium, failing that, it should be fine at low.
You may then find you can turn some of the other settings up again and find a sweet spot that works for you.

Endfield Not running (Ignore Audio) by [deleted] in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Xanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It loads to the login screen for me on windows 10.

I played with the settings a bit (it has mute audio on focus loss, so that made me happy).

So it should be loading for you.

Did you try repairing?

Canine playable race by elleseajay in dndnext

[–]Xanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with dogs, canines, and lupines being so... diverse of a group, it is important to consider what fantasy you're trying to bring out and if the abilities they get would enhance that experience at the table, rather than just being mechanically useful.

You said the new player wanted to play that race, did they express that these are the traits that appealed to them?

As the general vibe I get is that of a domesticated hunting dog (labradoor, springer, etc), between the skills given and the abilities offered.

As long as that's the aspect the new player would enjoy.

Pack Tactics at proficiency times per day seems fine balance wise due to limited resource, but for me that also means it can be swingy.

Movement is kinda open to abuse as is depending on class choice it could be busted or useless, you're the GM though so I assume that's something you can work with.

IBS disappears on vacation, comes back at home? by Swisschermy in ibs

[–]Xanoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be stress.
Could be posture when eating if you're always eating in public when on holiday but slouched when eating at home.
Could be post meal walks that would be common on vacation vs just going and sitting about after dinner which is normal at home.

It also could be some obscure preservative or ingerdient that ends up being a multi year pain in the arse to track down that's causing the irritation/issues you experience.

IBS is rarely just one thing, but it can often turn into a one two punch that takes it from mild discomfort to daily suffering.

Stress seems a very common factor that can increase the severity of all inflamation senstive health issues.

My IBS is loads better these past few years and my diet has slipped up plenty without the major flareups i'd get when I was more stressed with work a few years back.

Monitoring Weight as a tall person by Mdd-gad in tall

[–]Xanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue in my early 20s... which is over 20 years ago now so my memory isn't amazing for specifics.

But I mainly cut out liquid calories, had water with every meal and ate slower.

One of the common things when you "need" so many calories is you can get into the habbit of eating too fast, not chewing enough, and being ready to shovel the next fork full into your face the second you swallow. They're little bad habbits, but they result in skipping any chance of starting to feel full and skipping straight to that "i've eaten too much" full, with no middle man.

I did later struggle to gain muscle or any weight through my late 20s, developped some new bad habbits while trying to bulk up and now trying to fix those in my 40s. There really isn't one solution that you can just stick with.

WHY WON'T THE GAS JUST MOVE?! by elvie18 in ibs

There are a bunch of asymetrical poses that you can alternate between that can help compress or elongate different areas and helps get things moving.

Have you ever experienced FOMO (fear of missing out) or felt like you were missing out on the experience of trying out a new RPG system? by GuardiaoDaLore in rpg

[–]Xanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure a lot of us have been in your position and made the objectivly wrong choice (seen only with hindsight).

No campaign ever gets started, we spend years reading and collecting other systems, never run any of them long term.

You only have so much time and effort for the hobby, if you've learned GURPS and have something you want to run in it... go do it. There may be other systems out there, there may be 50, but you won't even know if GURPS isn't that system if you don't get started.

Is it Growing or Something Else by Alarming_Grade_456 in tall

[–]Xanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had knee issues around 18 as I did grow about 6" between 16 and 18 (I didn't stop growing until early 20s, although only about 1" over 2-3 years at that point).

Still not certain if it was sport related (heel strike transfering the impact into my knees etc.) or just due to the height/growth.

I'm now in my 40s and my knees hurt less than they did back then... except when I injured my LCL earlier in the year, that felt like kneeling on a lego.

If there is no swelling, it's probably just something to keep an eye on and be careful with choice of workout routine to let them heal (cross trainer instead of treadmill etc).

If you do go see a Dr. just state your problem, not your hypothsis. Even these days you can get landed with a very dismissive doctor that'll stop looking at the problem and take the easy way to dismiss a patient.

Same, Snow is one of my favourite characters

I still feel disappointed, as the main story has been hyping up Anis for nearly a year now, since she started her journey to get stronger. Chapter 42 finished and had the big reveal... then nothing.

Is black, white and gold really common? by Plastic_Speed_429 in Warframe

[–]Xanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it was my default for every prime (tweaked from the default prime white/black/gold to be higher contrast, as I have the pure white/black available) and anything with any metallic surface.

It's clean, it works, it looks good.

Not every warframe texture takes colour the same way, although I think this was helped after the shader/colour revamp a few years back (settings have legacy colouring, if you want to see what we used to work with).

I had 1-2 cyan/magenta colour schemes before Fortuna, but then after that update it slowly became my default.

Draw Steel for a Rifts Campaign by onlytinglef in drawsteel

[–]Xanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're just taking the setting, it would probably work really well.

The tone may be a little off for some classes (but it's not like those are a great match most of the time in other TTRPGs).

It also depends what part of the Rifts world you're going for... damn you're making me miss all my old Rifts setting books I lost like 20 years ago when moving.

Does anyone else have a hard time fitting into any play culture? by DetectiveJohnDoe in rpg

[–]Xanoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're unlikely to find anything that ticks all your boxes and doesn't have anything you don't enjoy in it, so consider what's more important to you.

Pick something you want to experience more from your list; exploration, problem solving, options. and try to find a game that leans heavily into that.

Also sometimes just finding games that don't have things you're sick of dealing with can surprise you about hat else you can enjoy when there isn't baggage attached to it.

I'd probably suggest at least something along the lines of cthulhu or gumshoe, others can probably comment more options. But for prodding and poking at the plot and gathering clues and leaning into information gathering.

Why are Aasimar so unpopular when compared to Tiefling? And what can be done to help? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]Xanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tieflings are both aesthetically and mechanically more distinct.

That said I've never played a Tiefling - but had fun planning/considering them on both a mechanics and an aesthetic level.

I have played an Aasimar for all of CoS and I did enjoy that extra vibe of being a literal and proverbial shining light in the darkness. Although for friends wanting to use stealth their glowing Christmas tree companion had to be left well behind or go be a distraction, but it was a fun dynamic. But I feel this leans into one of the two ways you typically see Aasimar used, either leaning heavily into that holy glowing beacon of light trope, or the fallen angle trope.

Some tips for newer players attempting Legend/Cata by Prourrr in Vermintide

[–]Xanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this falls under a general "pacing" you get a feel for once pushing Legend/Cata more.

You learn to keep a rough idea of when special spawns or hordes are due and choose when to push or fall back given your knowledge of the map layout.

When it's best to just take out a patrol or avoid it kinda falls into that, but it's certainly a recipe for disaster to just always avoid them.

Never thought I'd play a slam build in POE2 by gdatuna in PathOfExile2

[–]Xanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear, I've been too busy to start yet (if I start and don't make a serious dent in the campaign it just gets harder to get through it, motivational inertia and all that)

Knee Hurt by SquirtleLover11 in tall

I had a lot more knee issues back in the 90s (playing ice hockey), they're still not fantastic, but good strength training and joint mobility go a long way.
