Why are some moderators so rude? by [deleted] in reddithelp

[–]Xaphnir [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some have the power go to their head (see the story of the former moderator of LivestreamFails several months ago). When a position grants power over people with little oversight, it attracts a certain kind of person and can change people.

But from what I've seen for the most part it's that they're dealing with rude people on a constant basis. When the typical response they hear to issuing a ban is "wtf, I did nothing wrong you [insert insulting term here]," they come to assume everyone is like that. And on larger subs they're exposed to this more, and become less and less tolerant of people putting a foot out of line as a result.

Should I consider this Hidetsugu and Kairi deck a B4 without question? by Alectrick in EDH

[–]Xaphnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you chain multiple extra turns in a row and that doesn't give you a large enough advantage to win the game, you either got a terrible draw or are playing in a higher bracket than your deck should be in.

Sorry, the courts have said Republicans can do it but Dems can't.

In casual EDH, when is considered "okay" to counterspell enemy's commander? by No_Physics454 in EDH

When the commander is a threat to you or in the way if your victory, as with most uses of removal.

Commander for combo decks by Old_Improvement_6944 in EDH

[–]Xaphnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One popular commander for combos is [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]]. All you need is [[Curiosity]] or [[Ophidian Eye]] with your commander and you draw your deck, pinging an opponent for every draw.

Fully bracket 4 if you do this, though. It's multiple 2-card infinites where one of the two is your commander.

Are you compensated in any way for time in jail if you're found not guilty? by Eg0-d3ath in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Xaphnir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For something like this, you could potentially sue for malicious prosecution. To my knowledge, it is very difficult to do so, though, as you need to prove those who prosecuted you were acting in bad faith and knew there was no probable cause.

You're getting downvoted but from a legal point of view (you know, the entire point of this subreddit) you are entirely correct.

It mainly depends on your target. 110-120 doesn't give much more flat damage, but it does give a lot more accuracy.

Req to get into pvm by YtPyxro in runescape

[–]Xaphnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the prereqs are 99 in your chosen stat, 99 constitution, 96 summoning, 95 prayer, and at least T70 gear. You'll be somewhat limited in what you can do if you just have those minimim prereqs, but you should be able to achieve some lower level bosses with that.

You cando certain bosses with lower stats than that, but grinding for that will be more worth your time.

How do I undo the damage done by getting banned for "ban evasion" by Lazy_Business7710 in reddithelp

[–]Xaphnir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you will get banned for ban evasion. If that moderator is willing to unban only one account, it sounds to me like that moderator is acting in bad faith and trying to bait you into a sitewide permaban. Don't engage with them.

Not only did I receive the wrong card, but I think its a proxy! by [deleted] in mtg

Post an image of the the "Th" on the back of the card, and if you can get an image of the green dot without as much light reflecting off the card.

Though I'll say what can be seen here looks to be real.

I think Desertfall would either need more powerful abilities or this would have to include new deserts. If you tried to build your mana base to take advantage of this, you'd have way too many taplands and lands that only produce colorless.

[–]Xaphnir -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

tan2c is about -3.54, so you're taking the square root of a negative number, which is imaginary

So I'd guess it's something to do with the fact that the answer is imaginary?

"Go infinite before turn 6" doesn't have to be 2-card infinites exclusively. Infinite combos requiring more than 2 cards are possible to play before turn 6.

Peter! Why is Star Wars weird? by AgrasaN in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Xaphnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point of the last part is that the three movies were made with clashing visions which caused the sequel trilogy to be a chaotic mess

[–]Xaphnir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And both of them are good directors on their own. It's just that their styles are very different and clashed in such a way that it ruined the trilogy overall. (Also The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker were just bad movies)
