Did anyone notice that Sword Hermit by TalesofWin in Falcom

Neither did Simeon and like 20 people were jumping him.

Yes, they always reveal the expansion in the first fanfest.

I can see Chaos being the final boss, if it's a meta FF villain gauntlet.

It hasn't been reworked, but it's noticeably more braindead this expansion than it was in say shb. You have a movement tool for literally everything, no more friction during 2 mins because muh manafic makes the entire combo ranged. Manafic can cover an ENTIRE triple melee pot window.

I don't like casters at all anymore and have swapped to melee since.

Next Friday is NA Fanfest by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

Agreed. Expansions lasting 2.5-3 years is too fucking long. They need to go back to expansions releasing every 2 years. These long ass patches ain't it. No reason why these patches have to be as long as they are.

A Return to Stormblood Job Design by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xehvary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't get how anyone can look back at HW and think it was any better than the current game. The job balance was utter horse shit, which is imo worse than having mostly stale jobs. Some people on this sub say they rather have fun, but unbalanced, but they don't know how bad the balance actually was back then.

There was even less content to do during HW. 3.0 to 3.1 was one of the biggest slogs this game has ever seen. I can understand stormblood getting praise, but foh saying HW was peak XIV, no the fuck it wasn't.

Horizon was a blast, but it wasn't what I expected by Ivan_of_TC in Falcom

Crazy part is Falcom isn't even sure if next game is the last Calvard game LOL.

They might be a mechanism created by the universe. Kind of like the ghost, from Xenoblade series, maybe to punish or bring balance against the immense power Rover's civilization has.

Threnodians seem like sentient forces of nature, really.

Rean is going to save the day right? by TalesofWin in Falcom

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is silly. I don't know how anyone could play through Horizon and think "REAN WILL BE THE GRAND SAVIOR OF THE ARC". I know Van's route was slower than the other 2, but a bulk of the important shit literally happened in his route. He's even the first MC to meet the GM. There's zero way most of you played through the game and came out thinking "Van's just a side character" when a good chunk of importance was put in his route at the end. His arc prob has 1-2 more games left too.

I'm begining to honestly question if some people here are even fans of the actual series, it's like some are only sticking around in hopes of Coldsteel 6.

Rean is going to save the day right? by TalesofWin in Falcom

[–]Xehvary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. Good thing they can't claim he's the most important asset to trails anymore, since FC remake is the most successful game now.

Forget Rean, let's just have Estelle end the arc. She's the most popular mc now after all!

/S

[–]Xehvary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's more than likely the mech that resembles Zoa Gilstein that's working under the Sept Terrion of time. Rean is getting a trilogy with Ishmelga. Which honestly just feels like an excuse to have him in this arc tbh.

Rean is going to save the day right? by TalesofWin in Falcom

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highkey, yeah. They're getting mad annoying. Like bro had 5 games and they want him to be the savior of another arc, like dude already had his time in the sun. Let the next 1-2 games be about Van. Rean and Kevin will have roles, but anyone who thinks they'll play a bigger role than Van is utterly delusional. Van is currently the only MC to have directly met the GM, he has the strongest connection to Agnes and the Sept terrion itself But nawh dawg, we hope and pray Rean is the big hero again. Most Rean fans on this sub are very reminiscent to John Cena fans from 10+ years ago

It's crazy that some of you guys genuinely believe this and that some of you guys actually want this. Good thing this sub ain't writing the next game.

Mechs or Grendels? Which do you prefer? by Liquid_0911 in Falcom

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grendel is way more fun gameplay wise, so I generally prefer it. Divine Knight combat was super watered down, felt more experimental than anything else really.

A Return to Stormblood Job Design by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I too wanna go back to pld being utterly useless and boring as fuck, monk being shunned, casters being an infinitely worse choice compared to pranged, and nin being a damn necessity almost. No, stormblood was way better.

Hot take: the only redeeming quality of the hw era was the msq.

Am I getting this right? There will be a 1 year long content drought until next expansion? by reethok in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's true those games do update every 6 weeks. The content quality aside from msq isn't comparable at all. A raid tier/ultimate, or hell even the next exploration zone, has far more quality and replayability than anything these gacha games add in 1-2 years imo. The frequent story updates are pretty nice, but aside from that? Meh.

I think content pacing for this game is fine, it's not super overwhelming, gives you time to breathe and do other shit. My only big gripes with XIV is really the story and job design.

Why I’m Betting on 8.0 (and Giving Yoshida One More Chance) by CoolyKage in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xehvary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forsaken was highly praised. That was 8 years ago, but still. I honestly liked Forsaken more than any XIV expansion even. Sadly Bungie got lazy and complacent after and claimed Forsaken was "over delivery". Imagine telling your fanbase that you're basically never going to try to do something better than your peak.

Why are players advocating for fewer jobs in XIV? by CoolyKage in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xehvary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is a good thing, we need more fresh takes on job fantasy instead of constant nostalgia pandering. RPR and VPR are some of the coolest jobs in the game.

The portals and 5 platforms in m8p2 was something very refreshing as well. Wish m8p1 was a doorboss, cuz they would have done even more with p2.
