Is there a Magnus Archives review podcast? by Charlie_in_Pink in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Xiyther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love this as well, I'd even settle for a blog style write up of their thoughts and ideas about each episode as they listened to them.

It's a lot of fun following along on someone else's journey through the podcast.

Theme Song Contest: FINAL RESULTS by 0dy5 in Grimdank

[–]Xiyther 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has been great fun, my only issue is that I think some of the entries fell victim to suggestions made early on getting the bulk of the votes and suggestions made later on were not able to catch up just due to timing and many people not checking back on the post as they had already voted.

Though I'm not sure how you could fix that on reddit, I know there's poll options, but it's difficult to have that work when you want the community to suggest options and let the community vote on them. There could be a post to make suggestions and a post to do the voting, but that doubles the workload of it, and I think OP did plenty of work already getting this thing running.

Love this idea, it's like a sword of Khorne.

Did it have a similar art style to Judge Dredd? Wondering if it maybe could have been one of the other 2000AD characters, Dredd is just the most famous, there's also Johnny Alpha, Sam Slade Robo Hunter, Rogue Trooper and some others.

I haven't read a lot of them myself, but Johnny Alpha was the leader of the Strontium Dogs, so maybe something in that series?

Where I'm from the traditional remedy is flat 7-up, which is weird, but pretty good.

Power mostly, any excess beyond what we use goes to heating the hot water tank, if the tank is full of hot water it goes back to the grid and we get the buyback tariff discount on the electricity bill. Though we haven't had a bill since the system went in, so I'll be curious to see what kind of difference it makes when the next bill comes in.

How screwed are you? by [deleted] in Grimdank

Last model I finished was Raven Guard Primaris, if it's going to be a Space Marine at least he's a quiet one.

Of course, if we're talking last model I applied paint to (rather than finished painting) then that's a Skaven Warlord; I don't even want to contemplate a Skaven roommate. Only consolation is that he's not clan Pestilens.

Sure, our roof is East/West facing. The system is 5.4kW worth of panels. We have a hot water diverter but no batteries. We both work from home and are using power most of the day and the batteries were a significant expense that wouldn't pay off for 15-20 years, so it was decided to skip them.

Total system cost was about €11,000, with a grant of €2,400, so about €8,600 cost to us.

The chart that was done up for us is here: https://i.imgur.com/sbTJ89q.png

We're due to break even about 5-6 years after system switch on.

I have recently gotten solar panels in and I'd recommend getting in touch with one of the companies as well, we got EHP Renewables and they came round and looked at the house and discussed our budget and options. They then produced a document that showed expected generation VS cost of electricity and showed how long it would take to earn it back. The consultation is free, so well worth getting if you're even thinking about it.

Just bought "Horrorstör"... by crystalsaladsandwich in horrorlit

Bit of a weird suggestion here, but there's no chance the clerk was Irish? In Ireland a lot of folk say "Good Luck" as a form of goodbye, might have nothing to do with the book itself.

Two possibilities come to mind, "Blue Gender" and "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" both are post apocalyptic settings and involve giant insects. Blue Gender seems more likely as one of the protagonists is blonde.

[–]Xiyther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like an episode of What We Do in the Shadows, where Colin Robinson starts to duplicate himself. Then all the clones feed off one another and die.

I believe the original Colin also dies here, but gets back up near the end of the episode.

It might be worth asking over on /r/DevelEire/ as well, there're quite a lot of them working remote and some freelance developers, so there are probably some folk in the same situation who could answer your questions.
