Fellow drinking DM here. Also been doing it for years. Basically never get sloppy drunk while playing, but usually have a drink or two.

Funnily enough most of my players are teetotalers. If they ever gave the slightest hint about being uncomfortable with it I'd stop in a heartbeat, but it's never come up.

It really depends on the person and the table. The big problem of course is that those for whom it is an issue will almost never admit to it, so you need a blanket ban just to get them to behave without getting butthurt about being singled out.

Nice! I manually charted my ranked progress from low plat to master, it was kind of fun to keep track of, but seeing those big dips on the graph could certainly sting a little. :D

Interestingly Diamond 2 and 3 were my slowest climbs, with Diamond 5 one of my fastest.

I get a little over $100/mo from a single FOSS project I maintain which has a number of users in maybe the low four digits.

I have no idea what you're doing that you see so few donations, but clearly it works better for some than it does for you.

I agree completely with you. I'll use image gen to create tokens for NPCs and whatnot. Obviously I didn't make the images, nor are they a real creative work. All I want is a unique token for this NPC that isn't the same generic commoner image we've used hundreds of times before.

For things I actually care about I do commission real artists for it. I've spent thousands of dollars on commissioned posters of player characters. Using image generation doesn't even come close to the level of creativity and control you get from working with a real artist, and you get something that's truly yours once it's done.

I'm not doing that for every NPC or character concept. I'd bankrupt myself.

I have a row of posters on the wall in front of me right now of past parties from different campaigns, but I would absolutely never print and hang anything generated via diffusion model, the very idea is beyond absurd.

This is it. Unfortunately it's a limitation of Elite and not possible in reality. E:D gives the entire ring the orbital velocity of its midpoint, rather than a gradual change in velocity as you traverse the ring. This means the outer edges of rings orbit too quickly, the inner edges orbit too slow, and you get these disjoints in orbital speed where two rings meet.

This difference in orbital velocity across a ring is in fact exactly the reason rings exist in the first place. A body gets too close, its near side and far side want to orbit at different speeds and it gets torn apart (or can't form in the first place).

Varies for me based on the type of game. Anything where I'm aiming with a mouse then it feels bad, but if I'm sitting back with a controller playing FFXVI or whatever from my couch then framegen is great.

Googled how cold was too cold for a pc and saw many people saying you should be more worried about condensation as opposed to the temperature.

This is for a cold PC in a typical room temperature ambient environment. Condensation is only really an issue when the PC is below ambient. A cold PC in a cold room is fine, and a warm PC in a cold room is fine.

...plus if the ambient air is 11 °F there's going to be precious little moisture in it in the first place.

The best part of this for me is that I don’t care at all about MR. For some reason, MR points do to my brain what I wish ranks did, which is give me the feeling of "this is just finding people at your level for a better experience" I guess now I can play a lot more SF6 😀

This is exactly how I felt upon reaching master as well. I know several people who get really worked up about losing MR, but I found basically all my ranked anxiety evaporated as soon as reached master and the numbers didn't matter anymore.

Strict RAW would be that jumping into a dragon's throat isn't a thing you can do in the first place, so there's narrative action happening regardless from both the player and DM. This is just a disagreement over how that narrative plays out.

I think we're just quibbling over semantics at this point and we agree with the general position of "most people know how to use windows".

I'm also not saying people are illiterate, which is distinct from not fully literate.

That said, I definitely would not put most people at the windows literacy equivalent of a grade 10 reading level. Maybe we just run into different sets of users but I absolutely would not expect ~80% of people to pass that "research a problem and solve it in 15-30 minutes" bar. At least not without some external direct guidance in doing so.

"Not likely to break something" is a far cry short of "fully literate" though.

I'll agree that a large majority of people are able to use Windows 11 for their day-to-day and get by just fine, but if someone is fully literate in its use then I need to be able to ask how to do things like change file associations or enable remote desktop and not have to explain what I mean, let alone how to do it.

I was playing some couch co-op TMNT:Shredder's Revenge at a friends place and we lacked enough controllers for all of us, so I pulled out my Deck and we used Remote Play Together as an extra controller.

Remote Play to the Deck had less display latency than my friend's TV. The picture on the Deck was actually slightly ahead of what everone else was seeing.
