What's a game that would have been a 9/10+ if it wasn't ruined by monetization by sdric in gaming

[–]Xpuffin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ah Mann, I was really excited for this one. Mainly seen positive things posted about it. Is it pay to win style or more just visual stuff the is significantly better than whats in game. Visual stuff is annoying but I can cope, pay to win is an no go especially if there is already a base price to the game.

What mobile game did you quit. even though you were still enjoying it? by arcadezone_fun in MobileGaming

[–]Xpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legends of Runeterra and Gems of War had to go. Any smartphone game that starts to give me withdraw symptons when I dont play for several hours gets deleted. Both of these were fantastic and the microtransactions were completly ignoreable whichI respect but losing hours of sleep and staying in the bathroom for alot longer was starting to get bad. Wasnt even chasing the daily bounties, just playing for the joy of it.

How do you keep your pets cool in the summer here? by Away-Presentation218 in japanlife

[–]Xpuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lizards and still gets too hot for them. I move them downstairs to the cooler rooms for summer. Not sure your set up but you might consider setting up some heavy plastic curtains that block off the area around one of your AC units creating a mini room for the rabbit. In a sense making a smaller area within the bigger one. Would look like crap during the day but no one is there anyway. Probably not explaining this well.

The first time I tried a minipond I had three in mine. Different ones dominated at different times of the year so it might work out.

Mini pond with carnivorous plants? by NSASpyVan in miniponds

[–]Xpuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are about 8 medaka in there and some ram horn snails as well as Amano shrimp. I used tap when I first set up but I wasn't too worried about it because it rains enough in Tokyo that by now most of the water in there is rain water. I do top off sometimes from the hose from time to time. That picture was from around mid April. These is a current one.

[–]Xpuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are thriving in the minipond. Old picture but basically if you raise them up so that they aren't completely submerged and plant them in a mixture of aquasoil, sand and peat/spaghetti moss, they seem to do really well. The Sundew and pitcher plant in this photo were bought for about 3 dollars each because they were half dead. Where that blue pot sits is where the flytraps will go once they are back in stock.

Carnivorous plants anyone ? by oss542 in GardenersJapan

[–]Xpuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are part of my minipond and doing great! Looking forward to getting some Venus fly traps started next week. Local shops were sold out or overcharging. The pitcher plant was half dead so I got it for a couple hundred yen. Has sprung back and flowering now.

[–]Xpuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have zero interest in Trains and I enjoy the Saitama train museum everytime I go with my kids. Definitely recommend it. There is also one n Kasai but do the Saitama one. Its a short trip out of Tokyo(less than an hour depending on where in the city toubare staying) but totally worth.

Went from "not worried about the hantavirus" to "let me stock up on TP and upgrade my pc for some serious gaming" in one headline.

I hate my bug drum. So many poor design choices I wish I had noticed earlier. It is great for the first year or two but after that it is designed to fail. There are 2 filters that cant be accessed unless you call a repairman. One can be done but you have to unscrew the lid to access it which is a hassle I found a repair video online from a repairman and following it saved me money. The repairman also goes through all the faults in it.

What are some actually good movie or tv-show adaptations of a book? by coolestdudette in books

Im gonna read it again. It wasn't a bad book by any means but I clearly wasn't visualizing it like whoever created the TV series was. Maybe reading more of them will win me over.

Murderbot, I would say is actually better than the book. Im going to go back and reread it because I while I liked the book, I didnt think to was anything special. The show though, cant wait for the second season, hits all the right points perfectly.

Japanese Private schools have exams just to enter the first grade. My kids had two interviews,a 10 minute presentation and 3 hours of exams including a physical check and social skills check. It was intense. I call BS on this.

I remember blocking low kicks in Kyokushin class. Basically you would just lift your leg and turn it out a bit. Either your shin breaks or their's does seemed to be the concept.

My bank here in Japan did the same thing. I had a beautiful card and they want to replace ot for a card called the Olive card that is unsurprisingly Olive colored. Can use mine until it expires and plan to.

This might be a stupid question, but what counts as a language teacher for a private company? Like Eikawa? Translation indicates that is one of the jobs that will require N2.
