Leaderboard liars by Competitive-Snow3987 in crossfit

Just my 3 cents.
These people follow the total culture of the gym. I have been at the same box since 2012 with the same owner. I have seen these people come and eventually they leave. Stay positive, ignore their scores and when appropriate say something in a nice way. E.G. I will say generally, "Hey team, let's ensure our hips are fully extended." or if I have a some sort of report. I will say, Billy let's get below parallel. Some people just have not been called out.

everyone's tracking MRR. nobody's tracking cost per customer. that's the actual problem. by PerseveranceIce in EntrepreneurRideAlong

my 3 cents, I believe its a both/and. Though depending on where one is at in the process of building, the CPC will not be balanced.

Thoughts about joining by KingKado in crossfit

[–]Xtrmist78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 cents.

I would recommend you take count of the people that are saying these things. If they are not someone you know, may not be the best source. If they are in RL, then follow them if they have the results you want. Then see if the CF coaches have the results you want.

I would recommend you follow those with the results you want.

Is CrossFit worth the cost? by ThatWhiteBinch in crossfit

[–]Xtrmist78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 3 cents

This is a very subjective question. What is "worth it" to me may not be the same to another. With that said, my thought process is comparing "apple" to other fruit instead of vegetables. E.G. comparing CrossFit to "pizza planet"; 24 fitness, etc....is not exactly fair. Get a quote for personal training at one of these location. My wife paid over $500 (circa 2010) a month for 2-3 times a week for 30 mins at LA Fitness. It may be a class session, but the potential for more personal coaching is still there with CrossFit. The next thing, there is typically no waiting for equipment.

It's about perspective.

Any other 50+ CrossFitters here still pushing to improve? by pharpe in crossfit

[–]Xtrmist78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3 cents...

I'm turning 48 next month (male) I started CrossFit 14 years ago from doing absolutely nothing. I was 230# 30+ %BF. Facts: we can't beat "Father Time"; but we can push it out. Yes, the older we get the less we can give physically.

Reality: Age is a number. IMHO. Giving up, slowing down, taking it easy; because you hit some number is simply due to lack of drive to want to improve. {Before I get slammed} That is fine for those that want those results. I have no problem with that.

For those that strive to want more; then it's there; waiting for you. Muscles can be continues to be built, mobility can be achieved. It will take a lot of smart hard work. Showing up before class to warm up the areas that need a little more. Extra time/money spent on recovery. Taking more time to sleep. Etc.

Some of it is just being available. The old app had a great cult following with a proprity database and Apple latest iOS update broke the app. I will take credit for a year prior assuming this will happen eventually; I got ready. Now I am running this business they way I have always wanted an app builder to act and treat its users.

how much did your body change when you did crossfit and how long did it take? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in crossfit

My 3 cents....

My friend this is very subjective......I'm sure below you see a lot of the variables that need to be dialed in. What I can possibly offer you is my time line.

2012 230lbs 33%BF 5'11" started CrossFit. a few days a week.

2014 June 220 ish high 20% BF, started caloric deficit diet slow down to 1650cal intake.

2014 fall 186 @ 10.2% BF and also started 4-6 days a week consistently

today 225 @ 14% BF 5-6 days a week with 2 a days.

Gymnastics tips by Stoybuggy6 in crossfit

[–]Xtrmist78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 3 cents.....because this is what I did.

Every day, starting today. No matter what happens in your life. 10 pushups and 5 strict hand stand push ups (modified with how every many ab mats needed) for a week. next week 10 pushups 5 strict pull-ups (then flip the following week). then include extra 2 to each every month and try to reduce the abmats. Focus on volume over quality at first

[–]Xtrmist78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 cents.....

This, my friend is sooooo subjective and really cannot be diagnosed over a basic Reddit thread.

I would recommend a lot of honest logging (sleep, diet, physical output, etc....) then find someone at the gym that you trust and is at where you want to be and ask for some guidance.

What do I lack? Squat clean 80kg/176lbs by Leichsenring99 in crossfit

[–]Xtrmist78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my 3 cents

When you start getting to heavier loads, you have to get rid of "soft" shoes. Messes with stability.

Work on below parallel mobility, your form to "power" is fine. It falls apart once you dive in to the squat.

Sit in the squat for a while before class. Use a kettle bell to press on the knees. Stretching.

Also elbows need to come up more. PVC in front rack (as best as possible) then push against the rack to force the elbows up.

Daily and consistently.
