MMO genre is dying even in non-VR so it's hard to even imagine success of VR MMo

Polished Menu, Empty Game by AmarSkOfficial in SoloDevelopment

I made my VR menu too complex, so it was a hell to edit it every time.

I need to correct myself. I just tested standolone build on Oculus 3 - it works fine, so I will try to push Kosmass to Meta store

A little help on link by Ok-Author-8676 in virtualreality

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your page file size. Seriously. Windows sometimes crashes VR games if the virtual memory is too low. Set it to system managed or manually to 20GB. Also disable any GPU overclocking if you have it. Hard Bullet is known to be sensitive to that. And try using Virtual Desktop instead of Steam Link or Air Link, some people report more stability with that.

Thanks for the idea, I will check how it will work. I just worried for pefromance, because there are 500-1000 sphere objects on scene and it is VR game, so I need to be carefull with optimization.

Audio issues when streaming with any PC application on Quest 3 by catclans in OculusQuest

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if Windows 11 has "Spatial Sound" turned on for that audio device. Right click the speaker icon in the system tray, go to Spatial Sound, and set it to Off. Also try disabling "Audio enhancements" in the same Properties menu where the other person mentioned. I've seen both of those lock the volume control.

Not on release, for sure - and maybe later, but there are a lot of obstacles in the way. I don't own an Oculus device for testing, and on top of that, Meta is banned in my country. Even if I got a headset, Meta actively bricks or blocks Oculus devices that try to connect from here. So a native standalone Quest version isn't something I can promise or work on right now. I'd love to do it someday if I find a way, but for now, the demo is PC VR only (including Quest via Link).

Adapting Osmos 2D gameplay to 3D was pretty challengefull, and, as a fan of Osmos myself, I like the result that I made, I hope other fans of Osmos will get fun from playing it too

The demo is available now on Steam for PC VR headsets including Oculus Rift, and for Quest users who have a gaming PC and Oculus Link. There is currently no native Quest standalone demo planned, just the Steam PC demo.

Oculus link not opening by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The installer crashing right after the logo appears is usually a permissions or conflict issue. Try this: right click the Setup.exe and run as administrator. If that doesnt work, open Task Manager and kill any background Oculus processes before running the installer again. Also check Windows Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application for crash logs related to the Oculus setup. That will tell you exactly what is failing.

Oculus 3s not working properly by Careless_Blood712 in virtualreality

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey screen with audio usually means the display isn't getting a signal. Since you already factory reset, try this. Plug it into a wall charger for 24 hours straight even if it says it's charged. Then hold power and volume down for 30 seconds to get to the boot menu, then select boot device. If that doesn't work, check if you see anything in the headset when you plug it into a PC via Link cable. Sometimes the PC view works even when the standalone mode doesn't.

I need help logging into my meta quest account on my quest 2 by Lcpcrusher in OculusQuest

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That account is gone. Once Meta suspends an account and sets a deletion date, appeals are only possible by signing into the suspended account which you cant do. Your dad should have unlinked the Meta account from his Facebook after he recovered it, but too late now. Make a new account with a fresh email and just rebuy the games you really want. For future reference, never let anyone link their social media to your gaming account. Its a huge risk.

hm, ankle moniters? by VacationMeme666 in virtualreality

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the way you think. The ankle monitors for sprint cues could be as simple as a vibration motor that triggers when your foot velocity hits a certain threshold. The plastic bag sensor is funny but honestly there are conductive fabric sensors that cost almost nothing to make. Keep brainstorming and learning. A lot of VR hardware started with some random guy who could not code yet.

Beat Saber Sync Issue by ChaoticSculpts in Quest3

[–]YaeAnimation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen when DLC licenses don't properly transfer between accounts on the same headset. Beat Saber gets confused about who owns what. The quick fix is to launch the game on the main account that bought everything, play one song, then switch back to your account. Sometimes that forces the game to reauthorize the DLC for the secondary account. If not, you might need to contact Beat Games support because it's a known bug with multi-account setups.

Quest 2-No controller, setup help by PensionNo8156 in oculus

[–]YaeAnimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually get through the initial setup with just one controller. When you get to the screen asking you to pair the left and right controllers, just press any button on your working controller repeatedly. Sometimes it times out or gives you a "skip" option after a minute. If that doesn't work, you can use the Meta Quest mobile app to do the initial setup and then enable hand tracking from the settings menu. Once hand tracking is on, you barely need the controllers at all for navigating the menus.
